Chapter 21

“I have called this special meeting today to inform you my Cardinals of Chaos, that the traitor Archbishop LaRossa has been killed. He has been sacrificed to the Dark Lord” A wave of mumbling and gasps circulate the room of the unholy followers, a feeling of doom and loss settling into their very souls. The Blood Pope is now wearing a new mask, a hideous contorted figure to match the darkness that grows in his own heart.

“Quiet, you useless fools, why do you carry on for this enemy of our path? Why is it that some of you seem to be remorseful, dare I say not in agreement with this situation, need I remind you all, that you helped manifest this state of affairs and your only way out now is death. Begone now, prepare yourselves, for the fight will soon be upon us, those who are averse to our new way of life will stop at nothing to destroy all we have created, and for those of you who may be having second thoughts, just remember, they will be your last!” He said staring each person in the eye.

The Cardinals all file from the catacombs quickly with fear in their hearts, most now knowing of the error they have made. Their hearts are quivering in their chests and the blood that flows through it has turned ice cold for they know they are, from this point on, damned.

The Blood Pope turns to his most trusted generals, “Men we need to watch these useless cowards, they are not of true belief nor is their character strong enough to move forward.” He said.

“What would you like us to do your Lord?” They asked.

“Watch them, watch them closely, if they start to expose our plans eliminate them as quietly as possible.” He said.

“As you wish my Lord.” With their new orders, they disperse into the crowded square taking up positions to monitor the cardinals and the people they speak with, knowing that they will have to kill most of them before the battle ensues.
