"Mom... Dad..."
A deafening clap of thunder shook the entire place. Solthara stood frozen, her breath shallow, her body trembling. Her wide eyes locked onto the motionless figures of her parents lying on the cold floor.
Beside her, a small, broken voice whispered through sobs.
"Sister… sniff… why aren’t they opening their eyes? …hick… mama …papa…."
Tears streamed down Solthara’s cheeks as stepping forward, her hands shaking. She reached out, fingers brushing against her father’s hand—once warm… now cold. A single black feather rested upon his chest.
Outside, the storm raged. Rain poured. Lightning flashed. Inside, weak candlelight flickered, casting eerie shadows across bloodstained walls. The room reeked of cake and death—the scent of her birthday, forever tainted.
Holding her five-year-old sister close, she clenched her jaw. Grief. Resentment. Fury. They twisted inside her, drowning the last traces of warmth in her eyes.
"Unforgivable... Unforgivable... Unforgivable." Her voice trembled, but her resolve did not.
"Whoever you are... I will find you…. and kill you with my own hands."
The thunder roared, as if sealing her vow.
That night, as the storm howled through the darkness, she lost more than just her parents
She had lost her childhood.
She had lost her smile.
She had also lost the star in her eyes.
