Day 10-7 negative
Have to try
“Seems like another dream. What’s going to happen this time?”
“From the looks of it. It’s… my neighborhood!”
“It means that, the incident will happen nearby. I have to check what the incident’s going to be.”
The moment I said that, I heard what sounded like the horn of a, TRUCK! I turned towards my right with the sound of it. A high school girl, most likely close to Yoru’s age. Her uniform was the same as that of Yoru’s high school. Most likely in her senior years. Her hair black.
As I was analyzing, the truck hit her. I guess she got isekai’d. No, I shouldn’t joke around. Soon, a large crowd gathered. I could do nothing in this dream of mine. Now, the only thing I can do to avoid this is to not go outside. That’ll only delay it, but, it’s better than nothing. Yeah, I should do that.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Not much later I woke up.
“I have to call Yoru. I should inform him about—What did I saw? My dreams are foggy still. Let me remember. Yes, a girl, a truck, accident. But, the location, I can’t remember. Nor the girl’s appearance.”
I chose to call Yoru. It’s now become an emergency.
“Hello, Yoru Yamagi speaking.”
“Hey Yoru! Tell me where you are! RIGHT! NOW!”
“Why are you screaming. And I’m currently helping with the club management committee. They are currently understaffed.”
“Okay, listen. After you are done, come straight to my house. I tell you the rest later.”
Okay, if you say so.” And so, he hangs up.
It took about 4 hours or so, but he came after helping them. I told him everything about my dream. Even the part that I can’t remember anything about her except the part that she’s from the same high school as Yoru and that she’s most likely in the same year as him.
“So, what do we do?”
“First and foremost, I’m going to make sure I don’t step my foot outside my home boundary.”
“So, what do I do?”
“You, will scout the neighborhood and send pictures to me. Maybe that can make me remember the place of the apparent accident.”
“Gotcha. Anything else?”
“Wait a moment. I have something to give you.”
I can my father immediately after saying that.
“Hello, baba. I needed that of yours.”
“Why?”
“I will tell you later. Just tell me where it is. And don’t let maa know about this.”
“It’s in the lower right drawer of my work desk.”
“Okay thanks.”
With such, I hang up. And immediately get the camera.
“Yoru listen. You should record everything in this. It may not have a live feature, but it will surely make it easier for both of us.”
“Got it.”
“And before you go. Thanks.”
“That’s what friends do right.”
“You’re not my friend yet.”
“Yes, yes.”
“And another thing, I suggest you scout the neighborhood after 1:00 PM. The dream I saw was mostly around that time.”
“You done?”
“yes”
“Then, see ya. I got to get changed before scouting. This uniform if hard to run in.”
Yoru left and I remained seated filled with doubts on what to do next.
“I think I should ask Sonia. Yeah. That should work”
“My Ani-ue talking about me?”
“Yeah. I’m talking about you alright. And I’m still not used to you calling me that.”
“Leave it. So, what do you need me for.”
“I think you have heard everything I discussed with Yoru.”
“Yep, everything”
“Good. I would prefer your suggestion on this matter”
“Let me see………. I have none~”
“Geez, thanks for being useless.”
“Hey, I tried my best you know.”
“Alright, alright.”
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\//\/\/\/\/\/\
It’s the second day. Today is Yoru’s day off from helping other clubs. I, on the other hand am being useless. Yesterday, Yoru gave me the recording of the area nearby his and my house. Today I told him to scout around the marketplace. I’m worried sick. My already bad sleep schedule got worse.
Today, my father’s home. I will have to tell him everything. I know he will understand. He’s the most logical person I know after all.
“Baba. I think I should tell you why I called you yesterday.”
“It’s your dreams right. I thought so.”
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“How’d you know.”
“I’m the one you always come to for such matters. So, it’s obvious for me. Who do you think was there when you needed advice. Now tell me what is it this time.”
I choose to tell him everything. Including the part about taking help from Yoru.
“So, what do you say.”
“Nothing. You do what you have to. Just know, you’ll always have my support.”
“Okay.”
And with a light voice. “Thank you”
/\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\/\
It’s the third day. The second day went without any progress. Today, I asked Yoru to scout the remaining areas and the areas where girls from his high school are likely to go.
“I’m too stressed. I think I should get some fresh air from the roof. Maybe, even take a nap. Yeah, that should work.”
The roof was just outside my room. It’s better to say my room is in the roof. And I like it here. It’s the most relaxing spot for me. Just pure bliss.
After getting out into the roof, I chose to sit in the bean bag I left outside quite a few days ago and took a little nap.
“What time is it? Lemme check. It’s 12:48. Seems like I took quite the nap. A solid 4 hours 13 minutes. Nice.”
After waking up, I chose to look at my neighborhood through the window. I could see Vayu from here. And under him, a man was sleeping. This side was no fun. So I chose to look at other sides.
While I was looking at the other sides, I saw a girl walking around the ‘dark path’ (it’s the road no one walk at. So I chose to call it the ‘dark path’).
“Maybe it’s her. I think I should call Yoru. So he can escort her to safety and her fate can be changed. Yeah. I can finally be free.”
I chose to call Yoru but it seems like his phone’s out of battery. Wonderful. Now, what do I do :)
“You could always go help her instead.”
“But, won’t that put her at risk? And when did you out Sonia?”
“My Ani-ue is stressed. So of course I’ll come out.”
“I see”
“So, why do you want me to go out to save her. It’s risky”
“Just trust me. And if you save her, her fate will change either way. And be quick. Only 10 minutes left till 1 PM.”
“Alright I get it.”
I chose to take the mask I made for cosplay with me. I knew if I failed, I won’t be able to show my face to anyone, even myself.
The part where I saw that girl and my house are only 4 minutes if I run. So, I chose to run immediately.
I ran to the point I saw her at, but she wasn’t there.
“I should’ve guessed. Now what do I do? I think she went straight this way. Sonia, you have any idea where she might’ve gone?”
“No, sorry.”
“It’s alright. I’ll just have to wing it.”
I chose to go the way she was facing when I saw her form the room.
After running back and forth for some time, I came into the area I saw in my dreams.
“This area, I remember it. The accident will be here. But I don’t see her. The path that the heavy vehicles usually take is to my left. Don’t tell me. She went this way. Its going to be a huge problem.”
I ran towards there. And in the corner I saw her. So, I chose to run towards her.
While I was running, I saw a minivan moving towards her. Maybe it was what I might’ve mistaken for a truck.
“Hey! you there! Stop!”
I chose to shout so that the girl could hear me. She stopped, but at the wrong place. The driver is most likely asleep. I had to jump. To save her, but the distance was big enough that my jump would’ve meant nothing.
“Just jump!” Sonia screamed
“What?!”
“Just do it!”
“Alright!”
I jumped and when I did, I felt a strong push. But it was enough. I was able to push her to the side. And the minivan crashed a few seconds later into a wall straight ahead.
Me seeing the girl, screaming at her to stop and saving her. It all happened at the span of 3 seconds.
While others gathered in the crash site, I was still there holding onto that girl before finally letting go and facing towards her.
“Are you all right miss?”
“Y-yes.” She replied with her face flustered
“Good. I can finally rest. If you’d have been hurt, I couldn’t forgive myself”
“W-what do you mean? A-and why are you smiling?”
“It’s nothing. And smiling? Oh, seems like my mask fell off.”
I chose to get up and her help her get up as well.
“I should leave now. Be safe”
“E-excuse m-me. But could you tell me where the park is? I wanted to go there.”
“You have your notebook with you?”
“Y-yes”
“Then let me draw the map for you.”
“Th-thank you.”
“No no, it’s alright.”
I chose to draw the map, then walk away while also trying to find the mask.
“See, I knew you could do it”
“Yeah, it’s hard to believe it. But, I’m finally free.”
“Me too.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“You’ll know soon enough.”
“Okay. Anyways, what was that thing you did earlier? It was really helpful”
“I actually don’t know. I did it in the spur of the moment.”
“Well, at least you were useful for once.”
“I’m always useful.”
“Of course you are. Hey, I found my mask.”
“Seems so.”
“I need to increase the contact surface so it doesn’t fall of next time. Making a half-face mask without straps can be such a hassle.”
When I went back home, I chose to call Yoru. I immediately told him not to continue as I had already saved the girl I was talking about. I chose to tell him everything except the part that I was almost going to be killed. While I was talking to him, my voice started breaking. So, I chose to end the call.
Not soon after, tears started falling. Maybe this is what tears of happiness is like. I couldn’t stop myself from crying. My crying was loud enough to let my father know.
My mother wasn’t home today as she had an appointment with a patient. Yes, my is a doctor(physiotherapist).
Anyways, my father came to my room and asked me why I was crying. I told him everything. He was like my beacon of hope. Somebody I could never think about hiding anything from. After hearing me, he didn’t say anything. Just patted my head and stayed besides me smiling.
After I stopped crying, he hugged me and said what every child wants to hear from his parents. “I’m proud of you.”
It was one of the happiest time of my life. I was the luckiest to be born to such good parents.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Later I had dinner and we chose not to tell mother about this recent dream of mine and stayed the rest of the time as usual. Later that night, it was time I went to sleep. But it seemed there’s more left today.
“Brother, I have to say something.” Sonia chose to talk with me in a somewhat sad tone.
“How are you able to talk to me? I’m not stressed anymore.”
“I’ve always been able to do so. I just chose not to.”
“Oh okay. So, what did you want say?”
“You see……. It’s just…….”
“Just what?”
“You see…… You won’t be able to see me anyone.”
“I see. Wait a minute! What did you Just say!?”
“I said that I won’t be besides you anymore.”
“Why!?”
“My work as you guardian spirit is done.”
“What do you mean a guardian spirit!? Better, what was your work!?”
“To see you fight.”
“Fight what!?”
“Your fear of your dreams and to let you know that you’re not responsible for all the casualties till now.”
“I, see.” I chose to finally calm down
“Anyways, I have a request of you.”
“Sure, what is it?”
“I would like a hug before I go.”
“Okay, come here.”
I chose to hug her. Generally, she can’t interact with physical objects, but we were able to hug. This time, I chose not to cry. I believe we should always see off the people we care for with a smile.
After a few minutes of hugging, she let go.
“Goodbye, my Ani-ue.”
“Goodbye sis.”
With said such, she started glowing and suddenly disappeared. All left was a cluster of light particles left as residue which soon faded away on its own.
“Starting tomorrow, my life will be made anew.”
With such, the day finally ended.
Memory lane
Midway through my second year of middle school, I got quite known amongst all the students as someone who should be avoided at all cost. And the bullies stopped bullying others after that incident with me. There were most likely other bullies in our school, but they considered me a threat and thus left me and Yoru alone.
One day, I just had a feeling about playing badminton and chose to join the club mid-session. And Yoru followed me.
At first, they were not sure about letting someone join mid-session, but Yoru managed to negotiate. As you all already might know, I had to go against the strongest player within the club. He was a senior. And to be fair, he was arrogant. His face made me furious. He’s now a better person. But back then he wasn’t.
We chose to play a time-based match of 3 sets of 5 minutes each. I know. The time was short. But that’s how it was. Anyways, the first set was somewhat bad for me with a 5 points difference. The second and third set on the other hand was an easy victory. I managed to win with 13 points in the lead.
Back then, I was just a nobody who only knew the basics. I was never a sportsperson.
So anyways, I won and was allowed to join as Yoru also joined as my assistant. Yoru lost to the senior, so I had to make him my assistant to let him join.
And half-a-year later, we became seniors. I became really good at badminton, and Yoru also improved. But his accuracy didn’t allow him any spotlight.
Our seniors also were graduating after the exams were over. We were somewhat sad because they were actually kinda nice. As compared to other seniors that is. Oh, and the arrogant senior of ours, he was actually a chill dude. He was just prideful of his hard work and disliked those who weren’t serious about badminton. I didn’t tell you his name did I? He’s ‘Kanzaki Raijin’. That’s how the Japanese say their names, right? Yeah, seems so.
Anyways, he and Yoru went to the same high school. He graduated last year. His performance has improved since then and is now the lead player in a popular sports academy (I somehow managed to forget the name). From what I heard from Yoru, he was actually more open in high school, which makes me happy.
