Once upon a time, in a village in the middle of nowhere, actually near the province of Gloucestershire, but for the sake of the story let’s pretend there is nothing near it, there lived less than 800 people, where the only contact with the outside world was the train station and a department store. There was only one school, anyone who wanted a higher education had to go to the nearest town, and almost everyone who went to university came back to support their parents’ business, which is the situation of most of the characters in our story.
