Chapter 3: World START

The first thing Elias became aware of was light.

Not a harsh, burning glare, nor the dim flicker of a dying bulb. It was pure, enveloping light—white, endless, soft. It carried no heat, no weight, only an infinite, soothing presence that pressed against his senses in a strange, unfamiliar embrace.

He stood upon an endless floor, smooth and pristine, as if the very ground itself had been carved from the purest marble and polished to a mirror sheen. But it wasn't marble. It wasn't anything he could name. It was… something more.

Above him, the sky stretched in every direction—but it wasn't a sky. It was the same white light, infinite and patient. There were no walls, no ceilings, no visible edges. It felt less like a room and more like the blank canvas of existence itself, untouched and waiting.

Elias took a hesitant step forward. His boots made no sound. His body felt lighter, freer, as if he had shed the weight of mortality itself.

  "Where am I?" he whispered.

His voice barely disturbed the endless calm, swallowed instantly by the light.

Then, a chime. Clear and melodic, like the soft tap of crystal.

Before him, something shimmered into existence.

A console—floating, transparent, pulsating faintly with threads of light.

It hovered at chest height, shaped like a circular panel with intricate glyphs and icons drifting lazily across its surface.

  Welcome, Elias Rord

  Tower Management System Initializing…

  Loading… 12%... 47%... 100%

A quiet click sounded as the interface fully materialized.

  Elias stared, wide-eyed.

  The "Tower Panel."

The gods had spoken of it, but nothing had prepared him for the sheer scale of it. It wasn't just a management screen—it was a living, breathing extension of the tower itself.

Dozens of categories spread before him, each glowing faintly:

  •   Planet Acquisition

  •

  •   Environmental Setup

  •

  •   Creation Menu

  •

  •   Civilization Growth

  •

  •   Tower Defenses

  •

As Elias reached out instinctively, his fingers brushed against the panel, and another chime sounded.

A small burst of light exploded before him—and from it, a tiny figure emerged.

It was no larger than a loaf of bread, floating effortlessly at eye level. It looked mechanical—a small, spherical body made of polished bronze, with a single glowing blue eye in the center. Tiny mechanical wings buzzed softly as it hovered.

"Greetings, Administrator Elias!" the little machine chirped, its voice cheerful and bright. "I am GAIL—Guidance and Artificial Intelligence Liaison—assigned to assist you with the Tower Management System!"

Elias blinked. "You're… an AI assistant?"

"Affirmative!" GAIL did a little loop in the air, leaving a faint trail of sparkles behind. "My primary functions include: assisting with creation, explaining system mechanics, alerting you to threats, and cheering you on!"

"Alright, GAIL. Where do I start?"

"First," GAIL beamed, "you must acquire a base planet."

The panel shifted, showing an option:

  Basic Planet Template: 100 TP

"Without a planet, there's no foundation for life," GAIL explained. "This template is a barren rock—no atmosphere, no water—but it's a start!"

Elias hesitated for only a moment before confirming.

  -100 TP Planet Acquired!

The space around him shuddered. Before him, a floating hologram of a rough, rocky sphere materialized—craggy, lifeless, rotating slowly.

  Another chime.

+50 TP Reward (Planet Acquisition Bonus)

  Elias smiled. "Nice."

"Now," GAIL said, "to make it habitable, you must purchase essential elements."

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

  New menu options appeared:

  •   Atmosphere Generation (50 TP)

  •

  •   Oxygen Enrichment (30 TP)

  •

  •   Liquid Water Introduction (40 TP)

  •

  •   Temperature Regulation (30 TP)

  •

"These are critical," GAIL warned. "Without them, life cannot be sustained."

Elias spent carefully, purchasing the basics one by one.

-50 TP (Atmosphere Generation) -30 TP (Oxygen Enrichment) -40 TP (Liquid Water Introduction) -30 TP (Temperature Regulation)

Each purchase transformed the holographic planet—clouds forming, oceans filling low basins, a blue-green tint coloring the rocky surface.

  A flurry of notifications appeared:

+10 TP Reward (First Atmospheric Layer Created) +10 TP Reward (First Water Body Formed) +10 TP Reward (Stable Temperature Achieved)

  Current Tower Points: 430

Elias exhaled. The planet—his planet—was ready for the next step.

  He had built the foundation.

GAIL hovered close, its single eye gleaming. "Administrator, the planet is now ready for the next critical phase: biological seeding."

Elias nodded slowly, feeling the weight of this next step settle over him. He wasn't just constructing a landscape anymore; he was about to spark life itself.

"Before we begin," GAIL added, "you must choose the first forms of life carefully. Primitive organisms will stabilize the environment and prepare it for higher lifeforms."

New options unfurled on the Tower Panel:

  •   Basic Soil Enrichment (20 TP)

  •

  •   Microbial Lifeforms (15 TP)

  •

  •   Primitive Flora Introduction (25 TP)

  •

Elias studied the options, his mind racing with possibilities. He reached out, his fingertip brushing the first selection.

  -20 TP (Basic Soil Enrichment)

The holographic planet shimmered, showing soil darkening, nutrient layers forming, a rich bed for future growth.

+10 TP Reward (Soil Fertility Achieved)

Elias smiled faintly. One step at a time.

  Next, he introduced microbial life.

  -15 TP (Microbial Lifeforms)

Invisible life blossomed across the surface—bacteria, algae, the unseen architects of an ecosystem.

  +10 TP Reward (Microbial Colonization)

  Current Tower Points: 405

"You're doing wonderfully, Administrator," GAIL chirped.

Encouraged, Elias moved forward, selecting primitive flora—small mosses, hardy vines, simple ferns—designed to endure and spread.

  -25 TP (Primitive Flora Introduction)

Green slowly unfurled across the planet's brown surface, tracing rivers and lowlands, covering rocks with the gentle persistence of life.

+15 TP Reward (First Plant Life Introduced)

  Current Tower Points: 395

He watched in awe as color bloomed where once there was only stone and dust.

GAIL floated quietly beside him, letting the moment breathe.

Elias whispered, "This… this is only the beginning."

The Tower Panel pulsed gently in agreement, its light dimming and brightening in a slow, rhythmic pattern that reminded Elias of a steady, reassuring heartbeat.

He stood in silence for a long while, absorbing the magnitude of what he had just accomplished. This was no longer an inert, barren rock drifting through a void. It was becoming something more—a living entity, albeit in its earliest infancy.

GAIL hovered beside him, respectfully quiet, giving Elias the space to think.

He took a slow step closer to the holographic display of his world. Every mossy patch, every microscopic organism now represented a foundational stone laid for a future teeming with life. Yet he knew—deeply, instinctively—that true balance and sustainability would take careful planning.

"GAIL," Elias finally said, his voice a murmur in the vast white room, "how long until the primitive flora stabilize?"

"Current growth models project full planetary surface colonization in approximately 6 cycles, Administrator," GAIL responded promptly. "This timeline can be accelerated with additional investments or environmental adjustments, though natural development fosters greater long-term stability."

Elias nodded thoughtfully. Rushing might lead to unforeseen collapses later. Best to let it breathe, to evolve gradually.

  "And the microbes?"

"Microbial life is proliferating successfully. Nutrient cycles have begun. Atmospheric oxygenation levels are rising incrementally. You are well on your way to establishing a habitable world."

A slow smile crept across Elias's face. Progress—real, tangible progress.

He toggled through the Tower Panel, examining the live updates. Soil quality metrics were trending upwards. Humidity levels were stabilizing. Surface temperatures fluctuated within survivable margins. It was crude and embryonic, but unmistakably alive.

He could feel a deep, thrilling satisfaction bloom within him—a satisfaction unlike anything he had ever experienced in his old life. This wasn't a report filed at the end of a tedious workday. This was… creation.

And yet, as he stood there, Elias knew he had only scratched the surface of his duties. The Tower Panel, responding to his lingering attention, gently pulsed and expanded a new set of categories:

  •   Planetary Climate Fine-Tuning

  •

  •   Plate Tectonics Activation

  •

  •   Magnetic Field Stabilization

  •

GAIL buzzed beside him, its voice lower, almost reverent. "Administrator, while you have laid a strong foundation, certain natural phenomena are necessary to ensure long-term habitability. Without tectonic movements, nutrient cycles may stagnate. Without a magnetic field, solar winds could strip the atmosphere over millennia."

Elias absorbed each word, his mind sharpening with focus. This wasn't just about creating life; it was about sustaining it across ages.

He opened the first category: Plate Tectonics Activation — Cost: 35 TP.

  "Confirm," he said firmly.

  -35 TP (Plate Tectonics Activated)

The holographic planet shifted slightly, a slow, deep rumbling visible through the miniature continents as fissures formed, mountains began to push upwards, and deep trenches yawned in the oceans.

+15 TP Reward (Planetary Internal Dynamics Established)

Encouraged, Elias moved to Magnetic Field Stabilization — Cost: 30 TP.

  -30 TP (Magnetic Field Stabilization)

A shimmering blue layer formed around the hologram, representing the vital magnetic shield that would guard the atmosphere against the ravages of space.

+15 TP Reward (Planetary Defense Against Solar Radiation Established)

  Current Tower Points: 360

Satisfied, Elias opened the final optional menu: Climate Fine-Tuning.

He scrolled through options for rainfall patterns, ocean currents, wind belts, and temperature gradients.

"Administrator," GAIL chimed, "it is recommended to establish gentle, predictable patterns to encourage stable ecosystems in the early stages. Complexity can evolve naturally later."

"Good call," Elias said, selecting mild temperature gradients and steady rainfall for now.

  -20 TP (Initial Climate Fine-Tuning)

+10 TP Reward (Environmental Stability Enhanced)

He leaned back, hands resting lightly at his sides, marveling at the transformation. His barren rock had become a breathing cradle—a world ready to support not just primitive mosses, but eventually forests, animals, civilizations.

The white light of the Tower seemed to recede slightly, revealing a broader horizon beyond, hinting at even greater possibilities.
