Rinaye turned around to see a young boy with fiery red hair glaring at her. He looked young, about four or five years old. His clothing was that of a rich person, it had gems and jewels embroidered on every hem, matching the unique combination of his hair and sapphire blue eyes. His expression was that of someone who was thinking something along the lines of you
Nina, Sabrina, and Edna were chatting over in the bushes "technically" watching over Rinaye. Sabrina glanced over to check on the child, when she saw the son of the Duke scowling at the kid, her eyes widened and she scurried over to try to prevent any damage from occurring.
"What do you think you're doing, you brat!" The red haired boy shouted. "You aren't allowed in here!"
Rinaye just kinda stared back at him, in truth she was barely keeping herself from laughing. The sight of a tiny kid going around with that kind of authority was just hilarious to her. Rinaye was just about to say something back, like, "Why?" when Sabrina grabbed her shoulders and forced both of them to bow to this boy.
"I am so sorry, my lord. We were not paying attention to where we were going." Sabrina scrambled to say.
Rinaye slipped out of Sabrina's grasp and asked Sabrina directly, "Why are we bowing?"
"Because I'm superior to you! That's why!" The kid responded with a smirk on his face.
"Why?"
"Uhh, 'cause my father owns this estate!" He stammered. He wasn't used to having to explain himself to others...
"Sabrina?"
"Y-yes?" She answered hesitantly.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
"You told me that father owned this place, right?"
"Y-yes."
"Does that mean my father and his father are married?"
"What..?"
"If both of our fathers own the same place, then they must be joined in marriage, right?"
"I don't think it works like that..."
"Huh?" The boy spoke up again after listening to this exchange.
"But, my father's already married to my mother! That can't be right! I'm going to ask him to find out the truth!" The boy ran across the garden to a big house that Rinaye had never been in, completely forgetting why the conversation had happened in the first place.
The attention span of a five year old is something else.
"Kid! you have to be careful! The duke's kids have power over people like us! If you don't want to get hurt, stay silent!"
"Okay, Sabrina."
Sabrina took Rinaye's hand and led her over to where the other two maids were watching. Nina rushed over to see if she was hurt anywhere.
"You need to be more careful!" she said in a worried tone.
"Don't do something like that again." Edna sternly told Rinaye.
Rinaye could see a hint of worry on the old woman's face. She did care.
"Come on, let's walk back." Nina coaxed as the four of them started back.

"Cassion!" The boy with red hair bounded towards his brother is curiosity and excitement on his face. "Is Father married to someone else?"
"What? Yes, he's married to Mother." He replied.
"No! I mean to another father!" the boy said.
"..."
"Where you get this idea from, Arion." Cassion asked with disinterest.
"There was a girl in the garden who said that father owned the estate, and the only way for two people to own the same thing at once is marriage, right?" Arion yammered.
"First, marriage isn't the only way for two people to own the same thing. Second, to my knowledge, there isn't a little girl our age anywhere on the property." Cassion stated.
"But there was! She had big green eyes and brown bushy hair and she looked like she was younger than us and she kept asking questions, and there were maids with her, and she wasn't wearing a uniform..." Arion clamored on
"Green eyes and brown hair?" Another voice answered.
"Father!" the two boys shouted.
"Father! are you married to another man? Arion shouted.
"What."
