Alright, let's get started on the main character of this story, shall we?
The person you are about to meet is very lucky. Lucky to have a good family, get into a good university, and get a decent paying job. Well more than a decent paying job, a job that paid well enough to allow her to afford a big apartment in California with no roommates. What does she do? Well, she makes and plays games. Very unrealistic with that pay, I know. So as I said before, very lucky.
“It's here!!!!! Yes! YES! YES!”
Rinaye bounced back excitedly from the peephole on her door. The textbox that had popped up earlier already shared this, but seeing the package is a whole different thing. The company she had signed on with was generous enough to send a whole new console to playtest a new game. This wasn’t just any console either, this was the newest version of Full Dive V.R technology, it had been done before, yes, but having the latest and greatest thing is a feeling not many people get to experience. The console wasn’t the only thing that was special either! The game was very special to her heart. This game was based on a book series she read when she was small. She was so lucky to have been chosen to playtest it! She rushed to open the door and grab the package.
As she pulled the package inside, a message from her friend flashed in her vision. Rinaye had known this particular friend, Allison, for a very long time. Since Uni to be specific. Not from Uni mind you. Allison was a friend Rinaye found by random chance, Rinaye caught her hacking into the University's servers and they hit it off. Ever since that interaction, they somehow became real good friends. Rinaye came to use the logic that if Allsion had bad intentions something bad would have happened already. But the opposite happened, scam calls decreased, her information was never stolen, and somehow managed to win the lottery? When Rinaye confronted Allison with her suspicions of do-gooding, Allsion came clean with all of it (except for the lottery thing she would never admit to). Allison said that Rinaye was the only real friend she really had and wanted to protect her(awwwww). So they became closer than ever. Well, enough backstory.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
The message Rinaye got from Allison read:
Did you get it?
“Yup!” Rinaye replied “I am soo excited”
Well, you have been waiting for this for a few months now…
“Well, yeah! This thing was manufactured in Korea or something. Anddd it comes with the game already downloaded!”
“Well, get started already!”
Rinaye couldn’t tell from the text, but Allison was in a bit of a hurry.
“Alright! Alright! I’m going!” Rinaye says as she climbs into the console she assembled while I told you the background of these two’s friendship.
As soon as Rinaye closes her eyes inside the console, time stops. If you had been in the room with Rinaye during this scene, you could tell something was off. The view outside the window had been slowly disappearing from the fabric of reality. If you opened the window you could have heard the screams of innocent people as the very concept of them was erased.
This was the end of her world.
