Chapter 6: The Top of the Skull and All That...

Chapter 6: The Top of the Head Bone...

Joni pulled the short blade out of the trunk, put it back in its scabbard, and looked at the bloodstains on his sword. He bent down to wipe it clean on the goblin's body. When he lowered his head, he found that the goblin was not like a mouse or a wild wolf, with no dense fur on its body, only green rough skin, which was quite disgusting. The clothes were there, but only a piece of tattered cloth in the crotch area, seemingly the remains of a shirt, probably also stripped from an unlucky adventurer. Joni hesitated for a moment, sighed, lifted the hem of his own clothes, and wiped his sword back and forth several times before putting it back into his waist.

Six goblins. Johnny glanced around at the corpses, nodded, and then furrowed his brow again.

"How about the skull on top, how can we get it?"

As soon as he started thinking about it, his thoughts would spread infinitely. Joanie went from a purely technical question about anatomy to the goblin race.

It seems to be an intelligent creature.

Goblins have tribes, use tools, know how to cover themselves, eat cooked food, and don't take baths - this doesn't count.

A purely technical issue has been elevated to a moral level. Then Joanie thought of the three intelligent beings she had just killed.

"Logically, I should feel nauseous, feel disgusted, feel guilty, feel that I shouldn't have been born, feel that I should apologize for blocking the sunlight from ants just by standing here...... Yeah, it should be like that."

Jonah stood before the corpse, seething with emotions. Now his only connection to his past life was probably just this sort of self-entertainment.

Then Johnny shook his head and returned to the technical level. In the past, cutting down data-piled monsters, even people, had become extremely habitual, and realistic blood plasma and wounds, as well as screams, had made Johnny's nerves very strong. As long as it wasn't killing people, there was no problem.

  Actually killing people is also...

Joni crouched down, carefully observing the goblin's disgusting head. The sparse hair stood upright like steel needles. The hair was not short, but was tied randomly at the back of the brain. The dead eyes had already scattered brown pupils. The mouth was slightly open, revealing yellowish board-like teeth and a foul odor. The ears were long and thin, stretching out to both sides.

"It's actually quite different from the goblins I knew in the past." Joni thought to herself, not daring to speak out loud - the goblin really stank.

Joni stood up, pulled out the short blade, and then squatted down again. He first poked the top of the head in front of him with the tip of the knife, but it didn't go in. So he turned the knife over and tried to smash it open with the handle. Bang bang, after two hits, the skull didn't shatter, but Joni stopped moving. He remembered the words "brain splattered" and felt a bit queasy.

He looked around and found a fairly large stone on the edge. Johnny walked over, picked up the stone, returned to the body, glanced at the position of the head, let go, and jumped back.

  Brain burst.

Joni carefully avoided the yellow stuff on the ground, walked to the side of the stone, moved it aside, and looked at the thing on the ground that was like a smashed pumpkin. He felt nauseous. He suppressed his nausea and searched carefully for the skull in the pile of things. The scene was like a bowl of pumpkin porridge spilled on the ground, emitting waves of stench...

Jony turned his head and vomited.

After vomiting, he rinsed his mouth with clear water. Johnny felt much better than before. Releasing the pressure in his stomach made him feel more relaxed, even breathing seemed easier, although his throat was a bit uncomfortable, but that didn't matter.

He looked down at the pumpkin porridge on the ground again.

Judging from the position, the skull should be right in front of the original top of the head. Indeed, there was a piece of broken bone there, with some yellow sauce stuck to it, and some fur attached to it. Johnny got up, took a closer look, turned his head, and vomited again.

It's often said that after vomiting a few times, you get used to it. After the second round of vomiting, Joanie looked at the bone fragments in front of her again and then glanced around the area where the goblin's head had been, thinking that this should be the skullcap.

But is there anything different about this skull from other places?

Gritting his teeth against the nausea, Johnny picked up another shard of bone and compared it with the one in his hand.

"There's no difference at all." Johnny muttered to himself in puzzlement, "Nor is there any difference in shape."

Then I can get nine pieces with just one head?

Joni didn't dare to smash his head again, he was afraid that the requirements of the Mercenary Union would be different from his own ideas. So he put the bone fragments in his hand aside and walked to another corpse, holding a short blade, making a few gestures before starting to cut off the head.

  Then regretted it.

  This hand is bloody!

That year, he had watched many beheading videos, so Joni didn't vomit at such things. After cutting off the head, he picked up the goblin's hair and was about to tie it to his waistband. However, seeing the fresh blood dripping from the throat, Joni stopped moving, threw the skull on the ground, and went to the next corpse.

After cutting off all five heads, Johnny picked up the bone fragments from before and repeatedly wiped them on the ground, feeling clean enough, then took out his money bag and threw two skull bones into it.

Money is meant to be spent anyway.

After waiting for a while, I felt that the blood in my head should have been let out enough, so I picked them up one by one and tied them to my waistband, heading back on the way I came.

The strong smell of blood attracted many predators, but when they saw that it was a human being, and one with weapons at that, none of them dared to come closer. Some left, while others waited on the sidelines. When Joanie walked away, they came out one by one to feed, and also fought each other.

But this has nothing to do with Jony anymore, goblin meat? He now feels nauseous when he sees meat.

The sword on his body can intimidate animals, and the head on his waist can intimidate other guys. Joanie returned to the city smoothly, swaggering through the streets, and walked into the Mercenary Union.

The people present cast sideways glances and whispered to each other: "Who is this fool?"

Joni didn't hear. He walked straight to the counter where he received his task, untied a head from his waist and held it in his hands.

"Miss, may I ask, my task says it's a goblin's skullcap, but I think the skullcap and ordinary skull are no different."

The staff of a large company is not simple, the young lady smiled and said to Joanie: "The top bone is generally used for making necklaces, in some places it is used to indicate one's own achievements. As for the location, it is generally..."

She stretched out her hand and drew a circle on the goblin's head.

"In this place, what has been cut off is just the top of the skull."

  "Is this circle?"

  "That's right."

This is a bit of a hassle, how to cut it?

"How can we cut it down?"

"It's enough with just a saw."

  Saw... another expense.

Thanking the receptionist, under the strange gaze of onlookers, Joanie walked out of the Mercenary Union. He had to go buy a saw, the blacksmith's shop didn't need that kind of thing, so he didn't have one at home. As for where to buy the saw... asking a carpenter would do.

  "Boss, you guys..."

"Welcome, sir! What can I help you with?" The owner of the woodwork shop was extremely polite, seemingly oblivious to the row of heads at Joni's waist.

"No, I was wondering where you guys buy your saws from?"

"What? Saw? Vincent's scissors shop. Aren't you going to buy something?"

"No, no, thank you boss!" Johnny saw that the old man's face was not pleasant, and he quickly smiled and retreated.

Jiang walked out of the scissors shop with a saw in his hand. It's really dark, he thought, this broken saw actually costs four silver coins, can this boss see through my wallet? Moreover, why do these daily necessities store bosses seem to be not afraid of the bloodstains on my body and the head on my waist at all?

  It's quite strange.

It's definitely not possible to have it at home, Mother's courage is not big. Also can't open a saw in the city. Thinking of this, Joanie raised her head and looked at the sky, still a while before dark, so she walked towards the city gate.

  Saw it outside the city.
