Aromatic

Fabio looked at Yves, who was paralyzed, his eyes looking down. Fabio comically imagines smoke coming out of Yves's head.

Fabio’s right arm emitted that white light he showed Yves and patted his back.

Yves' body became relaxed, his mind clear, his fear seemingly extinguished.

“I prefer if he takes it slowly since we haven’t met in such a long time,” Leia smiled at Yves.

Yves smiled, “Yes, that will be fine.”

Fabio in the background clapping as a proud mother cheering his son on an important play.

Fabio positioned his arms on top of both Yves's and Leia’s shoulders.

“We first need to meet back with the professor to investigate Yves and evaluate him to see what class he is in. Who knows, maybe we might get positioned on the same squad.” Fabio started walking to the stairs.

Both Yves and Leia were too embarrassed to look into each other's eyes; they both looked either at the ground or at Fabio, who was leading them.

Fabio, through the journey, talked, talked, and talked about the most mundane things that have happened in his life. His topics of conversation range from the time he dropped his sandwich and an army of ants appeared, stealing his sandwich, to how much he hates one of the professors for calling him out for sleeping every day.

The awkwardness between the three of them eased the more random and interesting things Fabio talked about. There were times when Leia and Yves looked into each other's eyes; however, every time they immediately looked away.

Fabio noticed everything but decided to act oblivious since this did not directly involve him and was very happy for both of them. The only thought that he hated was that one day his sister and Yves would perform wrestling, and that thought disgusted him.

However, he remembered that Yves hadn't thought that and that they might not last, so jumping to the worst conclusions would be the worst thing he could do at this moment. All he wants to do is to annoy them with all he has.

The trio arrived at the sixteenth floor, the floor is decorated with many different pictures and artifacts. The most interesting part is that this room is much simpler than the other floors. Since there are only three rooms, their names are clearly stated.

The first room is the evaluation room which will test out the rank of the mythological being and their potential. The second room is the classroom where, with a series of a variety of tests, they will figure out the class they are going to take part in until they contract another being or a more powerful version of that creature. The third room is the progression room which measures how much someone has progressed and if they are on a path to their potential.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Yves has to go through all of the rooms before he can do anything since everything has changed since Yves left. With much more information, more and more things are taken into consideration to create the best soldiers.

“Yves, have you read novels that explain how magic tests work?”

“Yes, I read them in my free time the last time I was here.”

“Well, this is going to be different from a majority of all of them since this is the real world and not some fiction. I wished this was fiction, but this is our reality.”

Yves was very confused about what Fabio said and if there was a deeper meaning behind his words.

“Don’t worry, he just talks to talk.” Leia finally spoke.

  Knock, knock, knock.

Fabio knocked at the evaluation door and waited until someone answered it. He was about to knock again, but a man in his late thirties appeared, looking up and down at Yves.

  “Is he for an evaluation?”

“Yes, he left for six months, and he needs to be retested on all aspects of his powers.” Fabio took his arm out of both Leia’s and Yves' shoulders.

  “Very well, then come in.”

All three of them tried to enter but were stopped.

  “Not you two, only him.”

Yves entered and saw an incredible room; it was decorated with all sorts of weapons, potions, and tools.

“You stay there where the diamond shape is. I will talk to your mythological being, so stay calm. This will have the same effects as anesthesia, so you might say some nonsensical things that you will regret.”

“I understand.” Yves stood on top of the diamond shape; he looked at the man as he grabbed many different types of flowers, oils, and powders.

The man took a hot pot containing a blue type of water; it smelled sweet yet very aquatic. The man started mixing everything in that pot.

At first, Yves couldn’t smell anything, but the more and more the man mixed, the more the smells engulfed his nostrils.

The man grabbed a clothespin and attached it to his nose while he stuffed a type of white fabric on his nostrils.

Yves’s mind was lost on the beautiful smells of the different combinations of smells; in his mind, it all felt like an out-of-body experience.

The smell is comparable to a combination of hundreds of the most aromatic scents without any of them being overpowered.

Yves loved the sweet yet minty and aquatic smell that his nose picked up. Every smell was picked up; Yves looked around and saw how the colors became more vibrant, the reds became redder, the blues, pinks, greens, and every color became more intense. How beautiful the colors became reminded Yves of his childhood, where everything was more beautiful and vibrant.

Yves’s consciousness drifted in and out; he tried to fight his drowsy mind, but the smells were so pleasant that he just decided to give up; he entered his own world. The world is an identical copy of Yves' childhood from his memory.

The man saw how Yves was not trying to fight against the smell and stopped mixing. The second the man stopped mixing, all the smell disappeared. He took out the clothespin and prepared himself for the hardest part of the evaluation.

“I know you are here, so just wake up and show yourself. You and I both don’t want to be here, so let’s speed up the evaluation.”

  “...”

“Why are you making it difficult just to show yourself, or I will force you to appear.”

  “...”

“Just remember you forced me.” The man walked up and grabbed the potions positioned beside his desk took a sip of a red-colored potion and spat at Yves.

  Shizz

  Yves' body began to burn.

“Ok, ok, I am here; what do you want?” Ink showed up annoyed from being burned.

“May you take this potion, or do you want me to do the same?” The man handed Ink the multicolored potions.

  “I don’t want it.”
