Void

Yves relaxed himself, took two deep breaths, and raised the cup to his lips.

Yves finished drinking from the cup; he looked at the bald man who was collecting many instruments.

“What do I do next?” Yves asked in confusion about everything that was happening around him.

“Just wait; you will hear a loud ring in your ears and then use all of your strength.”

Yves nodded and stood in the same spot, waiting for the loud ring.

  Ring!!!

The sound of the ringing at this point is the loudest thing he has ever listened to; he couldn’t even hear his thoughts. He started covering his ears and eyes to try and reduce the sound, but it was futile.

As Yves' ears felt like they were bleeding, an intense heat started to build up on his hands.

Yves’s legs shook as he tried to move his hands to release all the power that was building up.

Yves extended his white glowing hands, aiming at the headphone speaker.

Yves could no longer hold back; the pain was similar to that of the pressure; however, now it is affecting him internally.

In an instant Yves released all his power, condensing it into a tennis ball size, the color resembling that of Jet Black.

  Bang!!! Bang!! Bang! Bang, bang

The second that the jet-black ball touched the speaker of the headphones, an extremely loud sound echoed throughout the entire room.

Yves passed out before the ball hit the speaker; his entire body shook like a freezing dog.

The bald man looked at Yves with surprise as he hadn’t expected to hear such a loud sound from him. He ran to see how the void was.

The void below him started to flow with a multicolor liquid.

The void filled with the multicolor liquid, then it expanded, and the whole process began.

The void expanded four times; the void expanded, and only drops of the multicolor liquid were released into the liquid.

The bald man started looking at the results with confusion; he was surprised to see someone with a high amount of magic ability. He started flipping through his notes, which showed details from all the students that have taken the test.

He looked at it for many minutes, marking everyone that has an equal or higher capacity than Yves. He counted only twenty with equal or more magic capacity. It was equally divided, ten higher and ten equal, but that is not the most important aspect of his search.

He primarily searched for someone with multicolor liquid, but no matter how much he tried, there were only single-color liquids.

“Where is the potential line?” The bald man paced around Yves’s passed-out but not shaking body, trying to find a white light that signifies the potential of the person.

The bald man’s confusion was at an all-time high; he tried to understand where this kid appeared.

The liquid disappeared, which later made the void expand to its max, and a line was shown to signify the potential, but the line was nonexistent. There was no mark; it all felt confusing to the man. Everyone, even the weakest, shows the faintest sign of a mark, but Yves is a different case.

The bald man dismissed it as an error in the test, which was bound to happen, but to the bald man, everything was still suspicious; however, he decided to ignore it.

After ten hours, Yves wakes up.

“Hello Mr. Yves, I have your results ready.” The bald man is sitting down drinking tea.

“What are the results?” Yves asks with the faintest of voices from his extremely weakened body.

“They are quite good. Your magic capacity is higher than the average, and your class is… I don’t know?”

  “What does that mean?”

“I don’t want to lie since it won’t benefit me, but in the test, it appears that you can be in any class.”

  “How is that even possible?”

“I don’t know. Also, your potential is something I can’t figure out.”

“Am I hallucinating? Can you make an estimate?”

“I truly can’t since there is no indicator for me to make an estimate.”

Yves looked up and saw a small, bright white light on top of Yves.

“I am hallucinating; if I am not, then tell me why there is a white light on the top of me.”

  “...”

The bald man stood up and walked towards Yves; his mind started racing.

This can’t just be a coincidence. I know there is something weird about everything.

The old man looked up and saw a faint white light, a light so faint that one could barely see.

“Don’t worry; it is just because of your powerful attack. It always happens.” The bald man nervously responded.

“So what is the next test?”

“Tomorrow. Your body is very weak.”

Yves struggles to stand up but manages to walk out of the room.

“Hello everyone.” Yves gave a faint smile as he saw Fabio and Leia waiting for him.

Yves, in the dawn of night, walked to his house.

Beep! Beep! Beep! Everyone, please evacuate!! An army of skinwalkers has infiltrated our building!! There are two Wendigos outside!! Everyone that is not over C-rank, please hide.

Fabio and Leia looked at each other; they had to protect Yves from dying due to his weakened state.

Fabio saw a tree close by; they got closer and rested a confused Yves. They stood on both sides of the tree to protect Yves.

  “Fabio!!”

Fabio turned around, petrified by how Yves screamed.

  “Don’t scare me like that!!”

“I am sorry, but do you have a pen and paper?”

“What do you need paper for?” Fabio looked at Leia. “Sis, I think Yves’s brain has turned into that of a baby!!”

Leia was about to turn around but saw a knife aimed at her chest.

She dodges it, narrowly escaping death.

Two skinwalkers in their purest form appear; their target is evident. They want to get Yves.

“Give me paper and pen!!” Yves screamed at Fabio as he looked at the Skinwalkers.

  “I don’t have paper. I only have a pencil!”

  “Try and find some paper!!”

Fabio looked at Leia and saw her preparing to fight. He looked at Yves and ran to find paper.

Yves closed his eyes. He needs to use what’s remaining of his energy to use his abilities.

Yves started imagining different types of weapons and creatures, but he couldn’t summon anything. There are limitations to his abilities, as without paper he has to imagine every detail of the thing he wants to create.

He could hear Leia’s fight against the skinwalkers, but he heard only one.

Yves concentrated, imagining two knives, their blades dark obsidian with a design of many parallel lines, the handles strong dark metal, rough surfaces for good grip, the tips of the blades sharp enough to cut wood, and the rest of the blades strong enough to cut a pillow.

Yves opened his eyes after he successfully created the knife; his hands started dripping ink. He looked at Leia.

“Leia!!! Catch!!!” Yves condensed his ink into a ball and threw it at Leia.

As the ball flew in the air, the more they formed into the thing Yves created.

Leia looked back and saw the ink transform into the knives.

She grabbed the knife; as soon as she grabbed the knife, her body started warning her of an attack. She could barely react as she protected her body from the attack.

  Yves smiled before passing out.
