Book 2 Chapter 17.2

If you asked Sarsa a year ago she would become a slave in the human lands she would not have believed it.

If you asked her six months ago after she was bought to become a maid and escort for a champion she would not have believed it.

If you asked her three months ago that her slave contract would be bought in it’s entirity and then released from it from said champion the same day they met, she would not have believed it.

If you asked her a month ago if she would fall in love with said human champion she might have believed it.

If you asked her if she would have his child. She would have said she would do it gladly but did not think it was possible.

On the eve of those of Guild 88 about to leave to build a new home for themselves, she received the news from the gods themselves. In fact she was even told they would be twins. Which made her happy, because twins were rare for dragonkin. Especially since it was a cross species event. Which made it from a once or twice a year for her kind of event to once or twice in a century. But her happiness for the event is paired with an equal amount of fear, because her partner wants to join the Cardmancer in his band of mercenaries.

A year ago Sarsa was the third daughter to a family of blacksmith refugees. She had neither the skill for the forge of her mother nor the business savvy of her father. And dragonkin are not kind to refugees of failed settlements. Seeing the failure as a whole instead of the parts that did and did not fail. However, that is their culture and she both understood and accepted it. It did not help that her parents skills were average at best. Good enough to run a shop, but one like dozens of others that did the same thing.

When she decided to sell herself to help out her family, she was unsure what would become of her. As her older brother joined the front and died there and the next oldest, her sister fell into a bad crowd. Ultimately ending her becoming a drug criminal before being caught stealing something and executed the next day.

So to keep from becoming another shame on their family she had two stipulations put in her contract. She would not be allowed to take any drugs except for healing of the body, and she would not work in a brothel. She fully expected to be bought by someone slightly better off than her family to be some wife. In a way she was.

Her training as a maid not only included her duties as a maid but as a honeytrap. While not actually practicing what she was taught, she learned several nightly services she could do for the champions. She was meant to act as a control element for the champion, but ultimately she was unable to fulfill that service as she was freed from her debt the same day she met him. She was grateful for that as well as that let her not feel like a dishonorable spy.

What she then learned is he had a variant blacksmith class. A more general one than a specialized one, but versatile enough to be both. And so instead of being his maid, she became his teacher. Teaching him what he knew of the ways of the forge. Though he had a scrawny body, that did not deter him from trying. And the potential and dedication to the craft surprised her. Within a week he was able to craft common household items, which took her over six months to get right. Within a month he made his first uncommon item, that feat took her years. His first rare came a month after that and just one more month later had his first epic. Both things Sarsa never accomplished. Needless to say, she put some of her previously unused training to practice after the epic was made.
