Chapter 9: The Young Master Has Disappeared
Her eyes quickly retracted, her gaze dimmed, and she said to the three men beside her: "I'll go take a look at the wine party..." As she spoke, she turned and left, without any lingering attachment.
"Wait for me, I'm going too..." Chi Yu hurriedly turned around and chased after her, squeezing into the passenger seat of Mei Ying's red car before she drove off. She quickly started the engine but didn't move.
Chi Yu didn't say a word, he just sat quietly on one side. It was the person beside him who, after a moment of silence, suddenly spoke up: "Red Eagle, I'm fine..." His voice was very calm, as if it was a relief after holding back for a long time. Chi Yu turned around to look at her, she was smiling, but he didn't know why, and yet he felt a pang of sadness. This smile only reminded him of someone else, his heart felt like it had been scalded with boiling water, it hurt so much. He reached out and wrapped his arms around her.
"Mirage..."
She didn't push him away, but quietly leaned against his neck. He had always known that Mei Ying was strong-willed, and having never experienced emotions before, he would have thought nothing of it, but now, he deeply felt what heartache meant.
After a long time, she gently pushed him away. He thought she would at least shed some tears, or even just have red eyes, but instead her big eyes were dry and empty.
"Thank you, Red Eagle..." It was as if only a few minutes had passed and she was still the same enchantress, nothing had happened.
He smiled and nodded towards the front: "Let's go..."
The car sped away like an arrow off the string and disappeared under the dazzling sun.
The wedding banquet was a Western-style outdoor buffet, located near the seaside. Even at noon, when the sunlight was strong, it filtered through the dense foliage, but the gentle sea breeze, the elegant violin music, the beautiful cake, the brightly colored drinks, and the exquisite food all combined to make this wedding a success.
There were still not many people, and there were guards outside the wine meeting to prevent unrelated personnel from entering. With fewer flashlights and more people's laughter and conversation, cups and chopsticks crossed, and wine was spoken with joy.
At the banquet, no one was happier than Robert Fulton, basking in the congratulations of others, beaming with joy. However, it is unclear whether people were too caught up to remember today's two main characters, or if this wedding banquet was just a formality, but the revelers seemed to have not noticed that the two main characters were missing.
Constantine quietly walked up to Robert's side and whispered in his ear: "The young master is gone..."
Robert's face turned cold for a moment, but then immediately returned to normal, and he calmly said to the person beside him: "Bring him back!"
"It is...". With that, Uncle Heng quietly stepped down.
