"Well well well. So you come int- no. No no. Hmm. That doesn't sound grandiose enough. Perhaps... So heros, you come to my lair? HA!" I laugh at that one.

"No, Perhaps domineering casual." I mutter. "Ah, welcome. You might wonder why I called you here, or something like that..." I mutter again.

Why was I doing this, I hear you ask? Well, I came all the way from my nice comfy throne to talk to space elves. I must admit, I was amused. I wanted them to join this Coalition, or I would remove them from the board. They wouldn't like it. Either option served my goals.

When I came to the Coalition's central world, where the eldar were moored, I came in stealth. I had requested, through the central government, to arrange a meeting, claiming it to be of dire importance. I wasn't even lying!

So, here I was, sitting and pacing in a meeting room made by primitives, fucking around. I was quite glad the only things in the room were not alive or sworn to silence.

Anyhow, I called them, and now they come, they had just entered the central building. Attendant telling the room number... yes. Mhm. Ah, here they come. I look around. Traditional long table, mhm. Proper seating, yep. Refreshments? Yes. Good. I turn the lights off, and wait. All light coming off me dims until it's gone. All is dark.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

I watched them travel through cameras and sensors. It looked to be a Farseer, 2 Warlocks, and 10 Dire Avengers. They traveled slowly, and as they approached my lair, they got slower, until they stopped at my door. Show time.

Farseer Ilithwuani was troubled of late. The seas of her sight were clouded. That generally ment rapid change and rapid action. She would likely get a new sight soon, but when? She had no clue.

But they were called by the government of this minor empire, as they apparently had something important to share. This boded ill, especially with the clouded sight turning more chaotic day by day. Today it was at a high, and as they walked through the halls, it slowed, until it washed away, leaving nothing as they stood outside the meeting room.

There was a feeling to the air. Malevolent and patient, cruel and cunning. Whatever this change was, it was inside, and wasn't friendly. She signaled to her guards to prepare, then entered. It was dark, until it wasn't.

At the far end of a rectangular table, a tall, broad skeletal figure sat, as if he was seated in a throne room. He peered at them, as if he could see their very souls. It made her shiver. In its hand, a wine glass was held by its stem. It's decorated body stood up, as it put the glass on the table, spilling nothing. It extended its arms outward.

"Ah, farseer. I've been expecting you."
