Chapter 22: Calculation

"You didn't eat dinner, so my mom asked me to bring you some food." Li Xin knocked on the door and found it unlocked, then hobbled in with his still-unhealed leg.

"Thank you." Wen Qi didn't walk over, but instead smiled at Li Xin from a distance.

They were of similar age, but had vastly different fates. One was pampered from a young age, while the other was forced to drop out before even attending high school.

Next, Wen Qi and Li Xin chatted casually, learning from him that the terrain here is not good, so the signal will be affected. Going out of this door and walking up the mountain might make it better.

Wen Qi glanced at the time and thought about rushing back tomorrow, but still decided to go up the mountain. She had to get in touch with someone to pick her up early tomorrow morning.

Before leaving, Li Xin offered to guide her way. Wen Qi took a look at the dark road ahead and agreed.

Li Xīn's home is not far from the nearest mountain, and after walking for less than ten minutes, she had already climbed up the mountain. The air on the mountain was not bad, but the signal was still not very good, with intermittent signals that were barely enough to make a phone call.

It seems that I can only drive back by myself tomorrow. Hopefully the injury on my foot is not serious. Wen Qi has gradually accepted her fate and also gave up the idea of contacting friends.

At ten o'clock in the evening, Wen Qi lay on her bed gazing at the moon outside the window. The weather was too hot and she had to open a window to fall asleep.

Her mind was a mess, she didn't know what to think. The events of those days replayed in her mind like frames from a movie. Her father's sudden passing, He Mingzhen's gentleness and distance... It all seemed like it had happened many years ago, even though it was only a few days ago.

It was unknown how long it took, but Wen Qi finally felt sleepy and closed his eyes, waiting to fall asleep. However, he heard a faint whispering conversation coming from the wall.

The wall wasn't very soundproof, and it was probably the voices from next door. At first, Wen Qi didn't think much of it, but as the conversation grew louder, she gradually made out what they were saying.

"What's wrong with her? She's just a girl, no match for you in strength."

  "Mom, this is no good."

"Hey, silly boy, once you pass this village, there won't be a store like this anymore. You're not fond of that girl, are you? If you like her, go ask her to be your wife."

"Shouldn't we ask if they agree..."

"Tomorrow morning they will be leaving, you think they can look up to you like this? Listen to me, by then it will be too late and she won't be able to escape."

  This is...

Wen Qi suddenly woke up, and a very bad idea suddenly emerged in her mind. The "Liao Tou" they mentioned, could it be her?

But before she could think, she heard a creaking sound as the door opened, and a dark figure walked in. Wen Qi shrank her feet back and stiffened all over.

All she saw was that black shadow moving quickly to climb onto her bed, its thick and rough big hands encircling her waist through the quilt.

Wen Qi was frightened and let out a loud cry, in her fright she hastily scrambled to escape, but before she could get up and run away, the hand pressed down on her heavily, pinning her to the bed. Li Xin leaned forward, sniffing the scent on her body carefully.

  "Help! Save..."

She opened her mouth to shout loudly, but was tightly covered by someone's hand and couldn't make a sound.

That disgusting and nauseating man inched closer, attempting to undo Wen Qi's buttons, but she struggled free and kicked him.

But all her efforts were in vain, and she was no match for a robust young man.

Wen Qi's heart was filled with despair, she tightly closed her eyes, and tears streamed down her face.

At this time, she didn't know if she had collapsed or was hallucinating, but she seemed to hear the sound of car horns outside.

  Is he here?
