Chapter 9: Wen Jianzhong

He Mingzhen walked past the nurse's station and heard a familiar name.

It's probably Zhao Jin Chuan who has done something crazy again, becoming the topic of conversation for others after dinner. He didn't think about it and walked straight to the ward at the end of the corridor.

He thought at this moment, Wen Jianzhong should also be awake.

"Dr. He, you're awake? Isn't today your day off?" As he passed by, he coincidentally met Nurse Zhao who was on her morning rounds and also heading to Wen Jianzhong's ward.

He Mingzhen smiled politely, "Alright, I'll go take a look at yesterday's patients and then head back. You should be ending your shift too, right?"

"Later on, a small fee came and I handed over the shift. There have been too many sudden situations at night these past few days, I've gotten dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep."

He Mingzhen smiled and opened the door. The large ward only had one bed, Wen Jianzhong's anesthesia had worn off, and he woke up. He quietly looked at He Mingzhen walking in from the doorway.

"Xiao Qi went out with you again yesterday, didn't she?" Wen Jianzhong's first words were about Wen Qi, his precious daughter whom he cherished like a treasure.

He Mingzhen suppressed his smile and let out a soft snort, "I sent her back to school, you don't have to worry."

Wēn jiǎn zhōng lěng hēng, "bié yǐ wèi wǒ bù zhī dào nǐ xiǎo zǐ chuài zhe shén me le huà xīn si, bù jiù shì xiǎng yào péi cháng ma, nǐ shuō gè shù wǒ gěi nǐ jiù shì, bù yòng nà me dà fèi zhōu zhé jiē jìn Wēn Qí."

  Translation:

Wen Jian coldly snorted, "Don't think I don't know what kind of evil thoughts you're harboring, isn't it just about wanting compensation? You name a price and I'll give it to you, no need to go through so much trouble to get close to Wen Qi."

"I don't want your compensation." He Mingzhen tossed off a sentence lightly, as if it were nothing, "Don't forget, you owe me one life."

Wen Jianzong had long expected him to mention this matter, "You are also a doctor, and there are some things you should understand that cannot be helped. What happened to your mother back then can only be said to be a coincidence, an unfortunate coincidence."

He Mingzhen was taken aback, seemingly not daring to believe that her mother's life could be so trivial in Wen Jianzhong's mouth, and it could be dismissed with just a simple coincidence.

"What a coincidence..." He Mingzhen sneered, "The surgery time was all arranged, but just before going on the operating table, it was discovered that there was no bone marrow. This unfortunate coincidence must have earned them quite a bit of money."

Wen Jian's face turned stern, and he shot him a warning glance. "Young man, you can't just spout nonsense. Slander without evidence is punishable by law."

"If I were still in the stage of gathering evidence, I wouldn't have exposed your true nature so early."

"You can't just say that..." Wen Jianzhong's expression turned serious, it seemed that He Mingzhen had grasped far more evidence than he had thought.

He Mingzhen raised his head absent-mindedly, with an unknown emotion brewing in the bottom of his eyes. "Rest well, and when you're better, you'll naturally know."

"I warn you, stay away from my daughter! Otherwise, I'll stake my life on it and won't let you off!" Wen Jianzhong's lumbar injury was severe, even if he wanted to sit up, he couldn't.

"Don't worry." He smiled faintly, "I'm not so depraved as to take out my frustrations on a little girl."

He Mingzhen finished speaking and walked out.

As soon as I entered the elevator, I caught a glimpse of Zhao Jin Chuan's figure.

After driving him out of the house that time, He Mingzhen and Zhao Jinchuan didn't have much contact either.

"Are you sick?" was what He Mingzhen said first.

Zhao Jin Chuan responded: "Visiting the sick."

"Whose illness is it? Which important client again?"

He Mingzhen knew Zhao Jinchuan's temper well, if it wasn't for the clients at work, he wouldn't have wasted his energy, let alone come to the hospital. In Zhao Jinchuan's own words, the hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant everywhere, which made him feel nauseous just by smelling it.

Zhao Jin's tone was cold and hard, "It's Xia Wei."
