Chapter 27: "The Fortress of Shadows"

Eryndor, Aria, Lyra, and Kael moved stealthily through the corridors of Malakai's fortress, their footsteps muffled by the soft, blue glow of Aria's spell.

As they walked, the shadows around them seemed to grow longer and darker, as if they were being pulled into a living nightmare. Eryndor could feel the weight of Malakai's magic bearing down on him, making his skin crawl.

"We're getting close," Kael whispered, his eyes scanning the corridors ahead. "Malakai's throne room is just up ahead."

Eryndor's heart pounded in his chest as he followed Kael through the winding corridors. He could feel the air growing thicker with magic, and he knew that they were running out of time.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Suddenly, Lyra stopped in her tracks, her eyes fixed on something ahead. "Wait," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Do you hear that?"

Eryndor listened, and soon he heard it too - the sound of whispering voices, echoing through the corridors like a chilling breeze.

"What is that?" Aria asked, her eyes wide with fear.

Kael's face was grim. "It's the voices of Malakai's victims," he said. "They're trapped in his magic, forever doomed to whisper their warnings to anyone who dares to approach."

Eryndor's skin crawled as he listened to the whispers, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that they had to keep moving, no matter how terrifying the whispers were.

"Let's go," he whispered, his eyes fixed on Kael. "We can't let Malakai win."

But as they moved forward, Eryndor couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap. Was Kael truly on their side, or was he just playing a clever game?

  Only time would tell.
