Chapter 16

Harmony started to run down the hallway in the midst of the alarms and chaos that was her thoughts. She tried to organize her thoughts as she ran.

The young girl known as Mori was also running alongside Harmony. Mori kept tripping on the robe-like clothing that she was wearing. Those clothes probably weren’t the best for running in.

There was no time to look at the pictures that were on the wall now. All that Harmony needed to do was run and find Maya and Steven.

Harmony had no idea what was going on, but Maya would. If there was one person Harmony could rely on it would be Maya… It would actually be Michael, but Maya was a close second.

“Where are we going?” Mori asked.

“I have no idea, but I’ll try to come up with something,” Harmony replied.

A corner was coming up and as Harmony got to it she dug her feet into the ground. She used her foot to pivot, but before she could take another step something hit her in the back. Harmony tried to continue taking her step, but fell down.

Thinking quickly Harmony tried to pull herself up with her aura, but only managed to throw herself into the air and fell back to the ground. Luckily no one was on top of her this time.

A loud ringing sound came from Harmony’s blade as it left the sheathe at her side. She rose to her feet and brushed the hair out of her eyes to see what she was actually doing. There was no sense in doing something if you didn’t know what it was.

Harmony saw a brown haired blue eyed boy standing in front of her. That’s when Harmony realized who she was pointing her sword at, which made her feel incredibly stupid.

“No need to stab me, I’ve already had enough surprises for one day,” Steven yelped as he stared at her sword.

Behind Steven was Maya. She had her glaive in hand, and had a coldly serious look on her face. It was much like the face Michael wore fifty percent of the time. Not something that Harmony liked seeing as it meant something was going very wrong.

Steven stopped looking at Harmony’s blade and stared off to his right. Harmony also turned to see what he was looking at.

Mori stood beside Harmony with a confused look on her face. There was no longer a look of fear, but uncertainty had taken its place.

“I would ask about it, but we need to find a way out first,” Steven explained.

He started to walk down the hallway that Harmony tried to turn down to, and motioned for them to follow.

“So what’s going on exactly?” Harmony asked Maya.

  Maya grasped her glaive tightly.

“I think that these alarms were indicating to anybody that could be in the school that there is a lockdown,” Maya explicated.

Why would there be a lockdown? It wasn’t like anything bad was happening. Then it dawned on Harmony. The lockdown was called because they were there.

Harmony started to think about all sorts of things. What if James had set them up? Who had told the Unity police that they were there? Many more of those questions flew through Harmony’s mind like a hurricane of thoughts.

“Hurry up and follow us,” Maya commanded as she started to jog after Steven.

Running after them was starting to tire out Harmony. This was the moment where she decided to work smarter, not harder. Harmony activated her aura and started to make herself lighter.

There was a reason that she loved her control over gravity so much. It proved very helpful in almost every situation.

Maya and Steven rounded a corner and Harmony joined them soon after. Harmony glanced behind her back to see if Mori was there. Mori had been following them for a while.

Luckily, the robe-like clothing that Mori was wearing didn’t seem to slow her down any.

The light pouring through the large gate at the entrance was almost blinding. Despite the fact that she was almost blinded Harmony was just glad that they had made it to the entrance.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

That emotion faded quickly as Harmony saw what was at the entrance however.

Outside the gates of the school stood a figure in the radiant silver plate armor of the Oathsworn. Behind the figure was a dozen people in what appeared to be police uniforms with a little armor plating.

Harmony assumed that the people in the uniforms were part of the Organization of Control and Security, or as most people call them the O.C.S. However, Harmony didn’t know who the person in the armor was as she couldn’t see their face.

“By order of the Unity, we command you to halt and drop your weapons,” the armored figure said.

In spite of having a full helmet on, the voice went through the helmet as though it wasn’t there.

Harmony looked around at her friends. Steven hadn’t even drawn his longsword yet, so he couldn’t exactly drop it. Maya on the other hand was still clutching tightly to her glaive. It didn’t look like she was going to drop it any time soon.

With this information Harmony couldn’t exactly infer what they were going to do. Instead of dropping her weapon Harmony sheathed it. She wasn’t going to leave herself unprepared if anything was going to happen.

The O.C.S. officers started to advance on them. They had long polearm weapons that they were wielding. Harmony had never seen them before, but she knew that they weren’t a good thing.

“Who are you!” Maya shouted at the masked figure.

The figure raised their hand and stopped the advance of the officers. Then they took their helmet off.

“I am Rosalyn, general of the Oathsworn,” she said as brown hair fell from the helmet, “I recommend you do as I said.”

Harmony had heard about Rosalyn from her time at the Eclipse’s school. Many kids told horror stories about soldiers in the field that encountered her. They said that none of the soldiers returned.

This caused a chill to go down Harmony’s spine. It seemed that she wasn’t the only one to be experiencing this though. Maya started to put her glaive on the ground. It seems that she didn’t want to deal with Rosalyn either.

Quickly, Harmony unbuckled the strap to her sheath and let her blade fall to the ground. Soon after Steven did the same thing.

With a glance Harmony looked at Mori. She didn’t have any weapon to put on the ground, which put Harmony at ease. Atleast Mori wasn’t acting as a person to spy on them.

Rosalyn started to issue a command to the officers. Harmony couldn’t hear what Rosalyn was saying as she was talking too quietly.

The officers started to move up on them again. They appeared to be cautious even though everyone had just put their weapons down, which was fair. It wasn’t often that you had to arrest a group of teenagers because they were at a school they apparently weren’t supposed to be in.

The officers kept inching closer and closer to them. Then a voice pierced through the air from behind Rosalyn.

“Sister, stop what you are doing for a moment if you would,” Chrys’s voice yelled.

All of the officers stopped moving. Rosalyn turned around and stared at the direction of the shout.

This day was getting more confusing by the minute. There was too much going on for anyone to fully comprehend. The one thing that Harmony was glad for was that Michael wasn’t with them. She hated dealing with her brother when they got into stressful situations.

Rosalyn and Chrys started to have a conversation. Once again Harmony couldn’t hear any of it.

Suddenly Michael ran up to Chrys’s side. This was a shock to Harmony. Michael said that he was going to go back to the rooms and get more sleep, so why was he with Chrys.

“What in the world is going on at this point?” Steven questioned, “you know what forget it. I’m tired of being surprised.”

Harmony couldn’t agree more with Steven.

After a few minutes went by Rosalyn and Chrys finally stopped talking. Then Rosalyn, Chrys, and Michael walked over to them.

“Sorry for the misunderstanding,” Rosalyn apologized, “but I was failed to be informed about this.”

Maya picked up her glaive, “I’m just glad that there wasn’t actually anything bad that happened.”

Rosalyn suddenly looked over her shoulder and shouted, “you’re free to leave now.”

The guards that were lulling around started to pack their things. Most of them just looked relieved that they were able to go back wherever they came.

“Rosalyn, why did you come here anyway?” Chrys asked.

Rosalyn smirked, “one of the students looked out their window and saw some people going into the school that weren’t supposed to be there.”

Harmony remembered all the houses that they past by. They must have been places for students that couldn’t afford the portal fees to live in. It was nice for the school to have them.

“I think that’s everything that we need today,” Rosaly announced, “don’t get into any more trouble.”

Rosalyn started to walk away leaving the rest of them behind. There was also a silence that started to permeate the area.

“Should we head back to the rooms now,” Michael suggested.

“I think that’s enough adventuring for today,” Harmony agreed.

Chrys started to swing her parasol around, “if you need me you know where to find me.”

Chrys started to walk in the direction that her sister went. They waved her goodbye.

Micheal started walking. Soon after Harmony started to follow him with the others in tow.

The nap that Michael suggested taking seemed very inviting. After all, tomorrow was when a new journey would begin.
