Chapter 1 – The Mark of Fate

Hiroshi, a young orphan raised in the peaceful village of Shiryuu, had always felt like something was missing from his life. The village was quaint and isolated, nestled between mountains with clear streams running through its heart. But Hiroshi, despite having a loving foster family, felt a deep longing. An emptiness he couldn’t quite explain. He often found himself staring at the distant horizon, wondering what lay beyond the mountains and forests.

One fateful evening, as Hiroshi wandered through the forest, a strange pull led him to an old shrine, hidden deep within the trees. It had been abandoned for as long as anyone could remember, its walls overgrown with moss and ivy. But something about it felt... incomparable. There was a crackling energy in the air, like static before a thunderstorm. As Hiroshi stepped inside, he found a weathered stone pedestal in the centre of the shrine, atop which rested a strange, glowing scroll sealed with an intricate emblem of an ancient lunula moon. His fingers trembled as he touched it.

The split-second, his hand brushed the parchment, the scroll ignited with an eerie light, and Hiroshi was overcome by a strange vision. In that instant, his mind was flooded with a torrent of images. Black infernos, cities disintegrated, an outline of a figure draped in the shadows, eyes glowing with a terrifying complexion. The figure spoke directly to him, not with words but through a crushing force that invaded his thoughts: "You will not escape this fate. The possessor of darkness will find you, and you will face him. But remember this, you are the key to our destruction’s success."

The powers of observation vanished as quickly as it had come, leaving Hiroshi gasping for breath, drenched in cold sweat. The scroll had burned his hand, leaving a mark like an unholy sigil. Confused and shaken, he returned to the village, but the depictions and the remarks of the words said in the dreams haunted him. Was this some sort of divine prophecy, or had he simply conceptualised about it?
