Episode 8: Birth of the Three Fel Dragons

My name is Ezzak. My mother is Rosel, and I have two other siblings, Amia and Luster. My brothers and I have been training under our father, who loves us dearly, but he doesn’t talk about our mother at all. No one does. In fact, my brothers and I have noticed that speaking of our mother causes great discomfort in the Horde; it’s like speaking her name is a sin.

On top of that, the temple has been getting attacked a lot. Father has managed to fend off the intruders, but one of them used a Wyrmslayer on Father and got a good hit in.

Father is still alive, but he’s been bedridden after that attack. All the raids stopped.

Father now has to walk around with his arm in a cloth sling, and some of the Dragons within the temple have been giving me and my brothers evil looks. Our siblings don’t even socialize with us anymore.

My brothers and I now spend most of our time in the Crimson Forest playing and talking, mainly to avoid the evil looks we get on a daily basis.

My brothers and I are Crimson Luck dragons, so we can use fire magic, and we can also make things turn in our favor if need be, but this power is mostly underdeveloped.

As the three of us begin resting in the grass, we look up into the sky and watch the clouds.

Ezzak: So do you guys have any plans?

Amia: Well, we do have training with Uncle Dimonty, but we can possibly blow that off again.

Luster: Yeah, that would probably be best. The temple is so toxic nowadays.

We would then begin to let out a collective sigh, but then we heard something like the sound of flapping wings. Looking up, we saw a Harpi she soon landed right in front of us. She was dressed like a mail courier. She then bowed respectfully and said,

Harpi Mail Courier: Hello, young sirs, I’m looking for the Crimson Flame Temple, but this forest is so blinding. Can you please point me in the right direction?

Ezzak: Is it important or something?

Harpi Mail Courier: Yes, actually, it’s a letter concerning Lord Raven’s former mate, Rosel.

Upon hearing that name, my brothers and I quickly got up off the ground.

Luster: We can deliver that letter for you.

Harpi Mail Courier: I’m not sure about that. This letter is meant for Lord Raven and his family. That is, unless you’re…?

Amia: Yes, we Raven is our dad, and Rosel is our mother.

Harpi Mail Courier: Ah, I see. Then it should be fine then.

The Harpi Mail Courier would then shift her left wing into an arm and then pull out a letter and hand it to Ezzak before shifting her arm back into a wing and then taking to the skies.

Amia: We finally get to know about our mother.

Luster: Yeah, so many years of begging for information about her, and we’ll finally get to know.

Ezzak: Yeah, give me a moment, and I’ll read it.

I would then carefully open the letter and read it aloud.

Letter: Dear Lord Raven, I am proud to say that Rosel has been taken care of. She will no longer be a burden to you or your horde any longer. I apologize for any issues she may have caused you. Her soul has returned to Fae Land’s heart now.

Hearing this caused our blood to run cold. Our mother was dead, and our father ordered it to happen. The three of us were furious. We raced back to the temple and went straight to Father’s room. We kicked down the door only to see Desdonna tending to his wounds. Father was surprised, and so was Desdonna.

Father: Whatever is wrong, my sons?

Ezzak: What happened to our mother?

  Father: Whatever do you mean?

I threw the letter in his face, and Father quickly read it and soon stood up and said,

Father: Boys, this was not meant for your eyes.

Luster: Is that all you have to say? You killed our mother.

Amia: What did she ever do to you, and why keep her a secret from us?

Father would shake his head, his eyes filled with false sympathy.

Father: Boys, it’s not that simple. Rosel was diff—

Ezzak: Don’t you dare spit on her good name. Whatever she did didn’t warrant you killing her, and frankly, I don’t want to hear your excuses. In the name of our Mother, we will take you down.

At that moment my brothers and I pulled out our spears, and we charged at Father, who moved to protect that stupid, lesser-born Desdonna. My brothers and I cloaked our spears in flames and soon charged forth, but Father instantly subdued us even with one arm in a sling.

Raven: Amia Ezzak Luster, stop this. Let me explain. I don’t want to harm you.

We rose up again and tried attacking this bastard. We started using fire attacks, but Raven used his own magic to absorb every flame we shot at him.

Raven continued to use that pathetic false sympathy on us; we were not going to let him fool us.

Soon we were surrounded by soldiers that quickly seized us.

We were then brought to the dungeon and were forced to stay there for an incredibly long time.

Rage ate our hearts; we wanted Raven and all his kin dead.

It was midnight when the guards came back for us. We were then brought to Raven’s throne room and forced to kneel at his feet.

Raven: Now then, this trial will now commence.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Looking around, I saw only Freznic, that decrepit Lindwyrm, and the guards.

Freznic: The charges are as follows: attempted assassination of our Lord while also placing Servant Desdonna in great risk.

Raven: Yes, exactly. Now you three are my sons. I care for you all deeply, but what you did cannot go unpunished. But as your father, I show mercy to you if you three can allow me to explain the entire situation with your mother.

Luster Amia & Ezzak: We will never listen to the person who had our mother killed.

That monster sat there and continued to feign sadness while we glared at him. This man, no matter what he said, will never be our father.

Raven: I see that there is no convincing any of you, so it pains me to do this, but I must sever our bond. You are no longer welcome in this temple. You three shall be left in the hands of fate.

Raven then stood up and began to recite an incantation, and soon we felt our fire magic disappearing from us.

We soon lost all knowledge of fire magic and our fire magic resistance. Our scales soon changed to a pale, soft purple, and the entire experience was exhausting.

Raven: Guards, escort these young men out of my domain and make sure they leave the premises.

The guards soon lifted me and my brothers up, and they soon walked us out of the temple, out of the Crimson Forest, and 60 miles away from our father’s domain.

The guards would then unshackle us and soon stood guard as they said,

Guards: Go, you three are no longer welcome here.

Amia soon spat at these assholes, and we soon started walking north. We now had nothing, absolutely nothing—no family, no mother. We were truly alone, but we had each other. We walked until we found an inn. It was run by an elf with white hair; she was beautiful, she looked kind, and she said,

Innkeeper: Greetings, lads. You three seem to be worse for wear. How about I make you something to eat?

  Ezzak: That would be nice.

The elf then led us over to the dining room and soon went into the kitchen to cook. We were exhausted, completely drained. Soon the innkeeper returned with the soup and placed the three bowls in front of us. Tasting it was so divine.

Innkeeper: So where are you three off to?

Amia: We don’t know; we just lost our home.

The innkeeper would then gasp; she was shocked.

Innkeeper: Oh my, that’s horrible, you poor things. So you have nowhere to go?

  Luster: That’s right.

Innkeeper: Well, then why don’t you three head for the Kingdom of Charity?

Ezzak: You mean the place run by the Uncrowned High King of Fae Land?

Innkeeper: Exactly. I’m sure you three could get a good education there and learn a trade. In fact, let me provide some more assistance.

The innkeeper would then walk off and come back with a key.

Innkeeper: My son works in the Ministry of Knowledge in the Kingdom of Charity, and he created this key so I could visit him easily.

Ezzak: And you're going to let us use it.

Innkeeper: Of course, it would be my pleasure. You three dragons have been given a bad hand and deserve some much-needed guidance.

My brothers and I smiled. The innkeeper then gave us the key as well as a packed lunch. We soon used the key on the door and walked through the door. As we stepped through the door, we found ourselves outside the capital of the Kingdom of Charity. It was a vast golden desert that gave off a silver glow. Stepping through the arch, we saw that the rumors about the Kingdom of Charity were true. The streets were built with a beautiful marble-like stone. The buildings were also made with a unique material that was smooth and cool to the touch.

My brothers and I were then approached by a human with dish-brown skin and white hair; he was wearing a shroud covering his whole body.

Disciple: Greetings, young dragons. I am a disciple of his holiness. I am here to guide newcomers on their path to greatness. Now, how may I be of service?

My brothers would then turn to me, and I took a breath and said

Ezzak: We are here to hone our skills as Luck Dragons and possibly learn new skills.

Disciple: Ah, I see. Then you’ll want to go to the Ministry of Knowledge. If that is the case, I would be happy to take you both there.

We thanked the Disciple as he led us to the Ministry of Knowledge. We would soon walk through the city, and it was lively here even at night. The Ministry of Knowledge was built like a massive fortress. The guide would then open the door for us. Once inside, my brothers and I would see a Rat Folk Maiden behind the desk.

She was dressed in a white crop top with a long, flowing white shirt. Gold adorned her crop top as well as golden bracelets and gems.

We soon approached this young Rat-Folk maiden. She closely resembled a human, but she had the standard rat ears and long tail. She smiled at us and said,

Cherie: Greetings, young Dragons. My name is Cherie. I am the receptionist for the Ministry of Knowledge. Since you're both here, I assume you all want to study here.

Amia: Yes, is there any sort of charge we have to cover for admission?

Cherie would tilt her head and then chuckle.

Cherie: Oh my, that is funny. You three must be new to the Kingdom of Charity.

Luster: Wait, you mean the rumors were true that there is no currency in the Kingdom of Charity?

Cherie: Yes, I can happily confirm that the rumors are true: the Kingdom of Charity has no currency. Everything we have is provided by His Holiness the Hierophant.

My brothers and I were completely amazed by what we heard. The Kingdom of Charity is famous for the fact that there is no currency, but a lot of people say that it’s a rumor.

Cherie: Now, since you three are looking to join the Ministry of Knowledge, we just need you three to sign your names in our ledger, and in the morning your training will begin.

Cherie would then pull out a large book. This book was the size of ten bibles, and it opened up on its own. Cherie then snapped her fingers, and a golden feather quill would float on its own and would make its way towards us.

Amia was the first to sign his name, then Luster, and then me. As we finished writing our names, they would give off a powerful glow.

Cherie: Now that you are officially a part of the Ministry of Knowledge, I will be blunt: by signing your names in our ledger, you will be obliged to follow the rules.

Ezzak: Of course, what are they?

Cherie: Yes, the rules are as follows: 1st, you will study hard and make the most of your stay here. 2nd, any knowledge you learn here must not be used to inflict harm on others. 3rd, any sort of misconduct will be met with severe penalties. 4th, you will have to assist with any and all events put in place by His Holiness. That is about it.

Amia: Yeah, that sounds pretty fair, actually.

Cherie: Great, I am glad you agree. Now, I shall have a wisp guide you to your room. May His Holiness bless you on your journey.

Cherie would then hold up her hand and create a golden wisp that led us to our room up three flights of stairs and to our room.

Once inside our room, which was pretty nice with a small table and sofa, my brothers and I then sat at the table, and we began thinking.

Amia: So are we really going to follow the rule of not using the knowledge here for harming others?

Ezzak: Well, that’s not true at all.

Luster: Exactly, we are going to use all we can here to destroy the bastard that killed our mother.

The three of us would then get some sleep, and by morning we would attend our first class, and we would learn so much. The teachers were all Jabberwockies, and they really knew their stuff.

With their aid, we learned how to use our innate Luck Magic, and soon we could really turn the tide in our favor. The three of us would then pursue other types of magic.

Amia studied Wind Magic, Luster studied Earth Magic, and I chose to study Water Magic. The three of us would then hone our skills for the next twelve years.

As we were studying, we began to hear rumors about a forbidden tome in the library known as the Book of Fel. The rumors told that the Book of Fel could bestow Fel magic to anyone who read from it.

My brothers and I were deeply interested, especially since we heard that the Ledger has the power to strip away all magic learned in the Ministry if any of the rules are broken, but if you are too powerful, then the Ledger’s magic will not affect you.

So we began talking about how we could obtain the book of Fel. It took a lot of planning, and soon we combined our luck magic together, and we were able to trigger a string of events that caused the library to close down and security to be lax. My brothers and I then began to get into the library.

Luster would then use his Earth Magic to create a pathway underground, and we would use this underground pathway to get into the basement of the library. We then walked up the stairs but found that it was locked. Amia then used the spell spring lock to undo the lock, and we got into the library.

We then walked through the halls of the library. We were mainly looking for the Vault. As my brothers and I were searching, we kept seeing white hawks looking down at us from overhead. We mostly ignored it.

But we would soon make our way to the vault, and to our surprise, the door was unlocked. We took this as a sign from the Hierophant and went inside, but we soon found the vault filled with silver mist. This mist is a telltale sign of a pure faerie.

????: My, my, you three are right on time, hehe.

We would then look to one of the library shelves and see a faerie dressed in pure white silk robes with silver symbols etched into them. His hair was like that of a wild man, and his hair was pristine white as well. He was a pure faerie because his beauty was out of this world. The only thing off about him was that his eyes were closed.

My brothers and I thought we were caught, but the Pure Faerie smiled and said

White Pure Faerie: Calm down, boys. I’m not going to rat you three out—far from it, actually.

Amia: So what’s your deal? Are you hoping to blackmail us?

White Pure Faerie: No, but I was just wandering through the library when I happened to find this, the Book of Fel. I even managed to undo the seal that was placed on it. I don’t think this tome is for me, but would you three be interested in it?

My brothers and I would get so excited. Not only did this faerie find the book of Fel, he also undid the seal. This was our chance to finally gain true power and avenge our mother.

Ezzak: Yes, we’re interested. Give it to us now.

White Pure Faerie: My, my, such eager faces, but you do know that this book could do considerable harm. Do you still want it?

Amia: We already said we want it. Now give it to us now.

The White Pure Faerie would then begin to smirk and then say

White Pure Faerie: For what reason would you dragons want to use this accursed Tome, it could ruin your lives or, worse, possibly kill you and those you love. Do you still want it?

Luster: Our reason is our own. Now give us the damn book.

The White Pure Faerie then threw us the book, and we ran out of the library and then out of the Kingdom of Charity.

We then ran to the shore and then opened the book, and what happened next was beyond compare: the three of us were infused with massive amounts of Fel magic that ruined us completely, transforming us into something else, and the only thing that could run through our minds was vengeance for our mother, and we were going to get it at all costs.
