Chapter 31: Shadow Valley (Part 1)

Bai Shi Wine House is the worst wine house in town, without exception.

What was supposed to be a horse stable had no horses in it at all, but instead only one huge donkey cart filled with animal corpses. The entire stable was shrouded in the smell of urine and food residue fermenting together, both the scenery and the smell made people want to die.

  What did Raven see there?

A drunken dwarf with almost no beard, a towering white-haired bear man, a down-on-his-luck archer with drow blood, and a half-elf bard who constantly complains.

"Oh, oh! Thanks, Yoda! Finally, a wanderer is willing to join us!" The half-man jumped down from the unconscious dwarfs belly and came up enthusiastically, grabbing Ravens hand: "Im Ade. Will you join us? Were just about to head out to the outskirts of Shadow Valley to try our luck, we were just missing a wanderer."

Half-elf is easy to get familiar with, Le Wen hasnt even opened his mouth yet, and Yade has been introducing teammates to Le Wen non-stop: "The one who fell down drunk is Darak, a great dwarf guy."

What the heck! This guy is clearly underage!

"This half-elf Shuwa, although he has a Troll bloodline, actually worships the Dark Maiden, which is even recognized as a benevolent deity by the Harpist of Justice." Yade introduced him and Shuwa nodded silently.

Alright! It has to be said that those who worship the Dark Elves benevolent goddess Elther, also known as the Shadow Maiden, are idealists who drown in their dreams.

At this moment, Raven has already equated himself with gunpowder.

"Kuman... his name is too long, usually he lets us call him Baimao." The half-man introduced, and Baimao added a sentence: "Yeah, let me take care of blocking the knife."

Levin is a bit speechless, should he say that he is lovely or straightforward? He is so blunt that Levin feels a little embarrassed to take advantage of him.

The introduction is over, facing the six scorching gazes, Levin actually wanted to say no.

To be honest, the guys in this team are all weirdos. Raven dares to bet that he can blend in without anyone noticing him.

This is the territory of the human empire of Yarlslan, where humans are the mainstream race. Generally speaking, elves, dwarves and halflings get along well here.

Its really incredible that such a weird team can be formed!

"Dear Wanderer, the allocation of our team is based on need. Whoever needs it gets it. Is that okay?" Yade continued to invite Raven.

"Alright! My name is Rex, Im in. Just hope you guys dont mind that Im a rookie wanderer."

"Its okay, if you encounter a trap that youre not sure about, just tell me and Ill try to get through it." Bai Mao comforted Lei Wen.

You have the ability to stare at a string of "Death by One Finger"!

Leiwen was raging in his heart.

Raven was completely out of temper with this team...

"Alright, everyones here, lets go!" Adie exclaimed excitedly.

"Departure? Where is the supply?" Raven looked around but didnt see anything like food or tents.

"Provisions? Well just hunt on the way." White Fur rubbed his head with a massive bear paw, looking puzzled. Half-Elf Spirit didnt say a word, Half-Human indicated that he had brought dry rations, and Dwarf continued to sleep soundly...

My eyelids are twitching, damn it! Am I leading a group of boy scouts or what?

"Follow me." Raven almost shouted word by word.

When they saw Ravens nearly fully armed twin horse carriage, everyones eyes lit up.

Half of the people shouted and jumped forward, flipping three times in mid-air before landing on the car. Half of Zuo Ers spirit flipped onto the roof. The dwarf... was thrown up like trash by the bear man.

Finally it was Bai Mao, who actually had the nerve to ask Le Wen with a smirk: "Can I sit on top?"

Lei Wens mouth twitched: "Do you mind me asking how much you weigh?"

Bai Mao Hen smiled: "This... should be no less than a ton, right?"

As soon as he finished speaking, even the two horses let out a disdainful snort, and with a flick of their white manes, they pretended to be dead.

At last, the white horse walked dejectedly behind the carriage with its head hung low. It had no choice but to walk ahead as the two horses were quite tense and the rest of them sat on the rope above.

Yes, no one noticed they were actually sitting on a ferocious demon statue.

After walking for most of the day, they finally arrived at Salace Town, which was closest to Shadow Valley, in the late afternoon.

The once quiet town has now become a huge marketplace.

Not only adventurers, but also traveling merchants who came with the wind occupied every empty space in the town to peddle their wares. The towns only inn was fully occupied by the wealthiest adventurer group, which was Eryndor Thornes people. Latecomers could only set up tents and camp outside the town.

The adventurers voluntarily gave up a spot at the bottom of a hill that was sheltered from the wind to Raven and his party, who were accompanied by a massive creature with white fur.

Levin prepared two tents, one of which was previously Karins and hadnt been lost after all. Levin let the dwarf who still hadnt woken up continue to lie in the carriage, while he slept in one tent and the half-elf in another. The talkative halfling had gone out to gather information.

White hair? Wherever is cool, lie down there!

At dawn, Half-orc Yade returned, facing the temporary teammates including Dwarf Darak who had woken up, he was filled with unspeakable disappointment.

"This public bounty is quite problematic. The target of the bounty is a rare silver-rank dagger, Black Moon Blade, which is located in a mysterious treasure vault in Shadow Valley. Anyone who gets their hands on it and brings it to the Adventurers Guild can receive 20,000 gold coins."

"The problem is that nobody knows where this Shadow Valley is. Or maybe those who know wont say. There are at least twenty desolate valleys around the town. Whats worse, during the day theyre just ordinary valleys, but at night many teams have people go missing. Listen carefully, its as if they completely evaporated from this world with all their equipment."

"Oh no—" Dwarf Dalak painfully patted his own forehead: "I was thinking of picking up some stuff from the outer ruins to take back as proof of our adventure."

Levin didnt say a word either, he knew clearly that if Elson couldnt catch him, he would definitely make a move.

In fact, in a hotel in another town, Elison fell into deep thought.

His trusted aide, Catreick, entered: "Your Excellency, still cant find. The number of adventurers who came is much more than we imagined. We simply dont have enough manpower to screen over a thousand adventurers."

Old thief Van der Fa said, "If... I mean if that Raven is a real vagabond and knows how to change his appearance, then except for high-ranking mages and knights, no one can detect his disguise."

"Never mind, lets just carry out the planned plan."

At noon, a thrilling message spread that the entrance of Shadow Valley had been found, but it only opens at night.

People suddenly became excited and began discussing it. Some even fantasized about how to spend the reward after getting it.

As night fell, the adventurers couldnt wait any longer and began their charge, swarming towards the entrance like a plague of locusts.

Levin could not stop the impulsive dwarf and the excited half-elf, who were also crowded towards the entrance.

That was a strange quiet and silent valley, even the crowd at the entrance of the valley was noisy, but there was not a single echo inside. Along the rocky slope down to the bottom of the valley, following the direction of the entrance in the legend, I entered a huge rock crevice into a cave.

The crowd held torches, illuminating the surroundings as bright as daylight.

But soon, rolling fog poured out from the depths of the mountain cave. At first it just spread, but within a few seconds it curled and wrapped around everyone like ghostly tentacles.

"Dont leave me!" Bai Mao roared.

Almost all adventurers unconsciously move closer to their teammates.

Suddenly a brief dizziness, when I came to myself, in front of my eyes was a scene that the vast majority of people had never seen before: everything around me had turned into a world with only black colors.

  Yes! Only black!

  Different shades of black!

The black clouds in the sky flowed and rolled, underfoot was a vast expanse of pure black earth, on which grew gray-black grass and twisted, eerie black trees. The curved moon in the sky emitted light similar to that of the sun, yet every ray of light was black, casting an even darker shadow on each patch of mud, each blade of grass, on their dark backsides.

Everything still has its previous outline, the white fur is still that huge bear man, but his all-white fur has turned into uneven black fur.

He had never thought that black could be divided into so many shades of light and dark.

"Oh! What in the world...?! How did this happen?!" Dwarf Dalak cursed.

Still, the half-elf rogue had some insight; as he spoke for the first time, his voice was laced with fear: "Were in trouble, we may have entered the Shadowfell."

"Shadow Plane?!" The three rookies exclaimed in unison.

"Right!" Schwart gritted his teeth: "Be careful, there are many shadow creatures here that cant be understood by common sense. Moreover, except for high-ranking wanderers, I havent heard of anyone else who can survive in the long term here."

"Good heavens! I thought this was just a semi-plane secret realm all along! What to do? Lets retreat first!"

The face of the half-elf rogue turned a few shades darker: "Too late! The entrance and exit of the Shadow Plane have never been fixed. Only high-ranking wanderers can sense the existence of the entrance and exit."

The Raven beside was ignored by the rest of the squad. Because that high-ranking, referring to Gold Rank or above, had nothing to do with the weak and small Raven.

Levin didnt say a word either. He quietly observed, he wanted to make sure of some things. Before making sure, he wouldnt remind this temporary team.

The team wandered aimlessly for an hour like this.

After voting, they walked down a solid rock slope path and arrived at a black wasteland.

In the wilderness, there was a small hut that should have been made of straw and mud. On the roof, some small animal bones swayed in the black wind like wind chimes, clattering loudly.

Suddenly, the half-bodied person let out a scream.

  "Oh my god! Look quickly!"
