Chapter 8 of Volume 6: The Will to Kill is Too Heavy

This time, the assassination killed 18 warriors of the Bright Church and four maidservants, as well as two male servants. After this incident, the Bright Church immediately increased the protection force of this mansion.

On the night of the assassination, in the living room of the mansion.

"Lin Lei, are you alright?" King Clyde asked with concern.

"Your Majesty, it's just a minor injury." Lin Lei's arm was still wrapped in gauze.

Actually, Lin Lei wasn't injured this time, but he didn't want people to think he was that formidable. So he created some superficial wounds for himself. He just used a flat knife to cut his arm slightly.

For Lin Lei, who had experienced the pain of his first Dragon Transformation, this was nothing.

"Lin Lei, you're fine as long as nothing's wrong." The Duke of Patterson beside Clyde also said with a smile.

Lin Lei looked at Duke Paderson.

This evening should have been a meeting between Lin Lei and Duke Patterson, but because of this assassination, the two were unable to whisper to each other.

"Second brother, let's not disturb Lin Lei anymore, let him rest well." Clyde said, turning his head.

"Yes, Your Majesty." Paderson glanced at Lin Lei and then followed Clyde out.

Lin Lei felt a hint of helplessness in the glance Paderson gave him when he left. Apparently, according to plan, Paderson was going to meet Lin Lei alone at night and discuss some matters. But now it's clearly not the right opportunity.

In the following days, the mansion regained its tranquility.

"Boss, isn't today May 18th?" Beibei suddenly asked Lin Lei through soul transmission while they were having lunch together.

"Right, what's up?" Lin Lei looked at Bei Bei.

Babe wrinkled her little nose and transmitted the sound: "Boss, have you forgotten? The head of the Debus family, Bernard, didn't he tell you that June 18th is his son's engagement day? He even invited you to attend. Now it's already May 18th, only one month left."

  "Engaged?"

  Lin Lei was taken aback.

In a month's time, Alice is going to be engaged to Kelvin.

"This has nothing to do with me." Lin Lei immediately calmed down and continued eating his lunch with his head lowered.

Babe's beady little eyes rolled around two or three times, and then she touched her chin with her paw, looking puzzled: "Could it be that I, Babe, misjudged? It shouldn't be, I'm so fierce, my vision is so accurate. The boss must have been concerned in his heart, if it were me, I would have slapped that little brother Calan to death with one swipe of my paw."

  "Lord Lin Lei."

A knight from the Knights of the Round Table who had just entered the living room said, "Lord Lin Lei, Cardinal Gilmer, the Red Robe, has arrived."

"Ji Mu?" Lin Lei hesitated for a moment, then put down his bowl and chopsticks and walked directly towards the door.

In the Holy See of Light, Lin Lei was most familiar with and had the best relationship with this Cardinal Gilmer. Since others treated him so kindly, Lin Lei would not be arrogant enough to think that he was really stronger than them.

"Lin Lei, I have some good news to tell you." Gillmer said with a smile as soon as he saw Lin Lei's face.

Lin Lei looked at Gilmer with confusion: "What good news?"

Jillmer smiled and said: "Lin Lei, do you know that our Glorious Church has a special group of people - the Ascetics?"

  "I know." Lin Lei nodded.

The last time I was captured by the Dark Temple's expert and taken away, it was the Deputy Judge of the Religious Tribunal and a ascetic who led a group of attendants to scare off the opponent, allowing me to return to Finlay City.

"Our Radiant Church, many people who are obsessed with magic or martial arts have joined the ranks of ascetics. It can be said that whether it is the Knights of the Temple or the Inquisition and so on, in terms of high-level practitioners, they are far inferior to the ascetics."

Gillmer chuckled and patted Lin Lei's shoulder, "What I want to tell you is that you have great potential to become a legendary cultivator's disciple."

"'Legendary Ascetic Practitioner?' Lin Lei furrowed his brow."

Gillmer smiled faintly and said, "This legendary ascetic is one of the top figures among all ascetics. He also holds an extremely high position in our Temple of Light. And his strength... I'm afraid that even if we look at the entire Jade Orchid Continent, only those three freaks can completely surpass him."

"Three mutants?" Lin Lei immediately became curious, "Gilmour-sama, who are these three mutants you're talking about?"

The two of them had returned to the living room while they were talking.

Gilmour did not answer immediately, but made a sign to one of the white-robed priests standing beside him. The priest at once very discreetly ushered everyone out and himself noiselessly closed the door of the drawing-room behind him.

The whole living room was empty except for Lin Lei, Gilmer and Bebe the little shadow mouse.

"Lin Lei, you may also come into contact with these people in the future, I'm telling you it's nothing." Jill murmured mysteriously.

Lin Lei looked at Gilmer with curiosity.

Gillmer sighed: "Throughout the entire Yulan continent, there are three existences that completely surpass the Holy Domain. What I'm referring to as freaks are these three freaks."

"Beyond the sanctuary's existence, isn't that a god?" Lin Lei exclaimed in shock.

"Agreed, it can be called God." Gilmer nodded and said.

Lin Lei immediately perked up his ears and listened carefully.

Gillmer said slowly: "The three abnormal characters of the entire Yulan, the first abnormal character is the 'Life Temple Grand Priest' of the Yulan Empire. Many people also call him 'Grand Priest'. The age of this grand priest, at least I don't know. His lifespan is too long."

  Lin Lei nodded.

"The second abnormal character, with a lifespan equally as long, is the true master of the third most evil place on the Yulan Continent - the Dark Forest. This abnormal character is said to be from the demon beast tribe, but he has already reached the point where he can transform into human form. Lin Lei, you should know that even if a demon beast reaches the holy realm level, it can only change its physical appearance and speak human language, it's fundamentally impossible for it to transform into human form. A demon beast being able to cultivate to the point of transforming into human form is terrifying, just thinking about it makes one's heart tremble."

  Lin Lei nodded slightly.

He heard Derrida and Foucault say that these two figures were invincible in the era when Derrida was still alive.

"What about the third person?" Lin Lei asked further.

Gillmer sighed: "The third person, who is also the one I admire most in my heart, is the founding emperor of the strongest military power on the entire Yulan continent, the 'O'Brien Empire', known as the 'God of War' - 'O'Brien'."

"O'Brien?" Lin Lei suddenly remembered this name.

The O'Brien Empire, named after this man, gives an idea of his astonishment.

"Over five thousand years ago, the Martial God rose to power with extreme speed, defeating one strong opponent after another. In that era, super strong individuals were numerous, such as the Four Great Ultimate Warriors, who were also born in that era." Gilmer smiled and looked at Lin Lei.

Lin Lei thought of his own ancestor 'Baruk'.

The first generation of the Baruk family was exactly more than 5,000 years ago.

"At first, the four ultimate warriors were very powerful, but their light was completely overshadowed by the Martial God. The Martial God defeated one Holy Domain expert after another. In the end, he even fought a decisive battle with the High Priest on the 'Yulan River', and the two sides clashed, causing over 10,000 deaths in that war. Finally, both the Yulan Empire and the Aubrey Empire abandoned that large area, eventually forming three kingdoms as a buffer zone between the two great empires." Gillmer sighed.

"Lin Lei, in the hearts of many people, the Grand Priest is the strongest human. But the Martial God was actually able to fight the Grand Priest to a draw. And how long has the Martial God been cultivating? This is what many people admire about him. I wonder, after more than 5,000 years have passed, what level has the Martial God's cultivation reached?" Gilmer exclaimed in admiration.

  Lin Lei also nodded secretly.

"War God, and High Priestess Pehnd?!" Derrin Kordover's voice echoed in Lin Lei's mind, "How is that possible?"

Dellin Kowert lived in an era illuminated by the radiant light of the High Priest.

In Deling City, High Priestess was too strong. There was no way to match her.

"De Lin Grandfather, every era has its strong ones, if De Lin Grandfather you hadn't died back then and continued to cultivate, who knows, maybe one day you would have broken through the Sacred Realm and become a high-ranking expert on par with the Great Priest." Lin Lei thought to himself.

Dellin Kowert let out a low sigh and then said no more.

"Let's not mention those three freaks, the person I'm about to take you to see is only second to them. If you can become his disciple, it will be of great benefit to your breakthrough in magic," Gilmer said.

Lin Lei secretly smiled in his heart.

Only second to three abnormal people, his own grandfather Deling, wasn't he also at the peak of the Holy Land back then?

"What's the name of this legendary ascetic?" Lin Lei asked further.

  His name is... Maple Leaf.

In the slums of Fenley City, Lin Lei still didn't know that in the top-ranked super-metropolis on the Yulan continent, 'Fenley City', there was such a desolate and backward place. It wasn't even comparable to his own small town back home.

At this moment, Lin Lei and Gilmer were walking side by side in this dirty alley.

"Lord Gilmer, you said Lord Raksha is here?" Lin Lei asked incredulously.

"Right." Gilmer nodded and said, "Lin Lei, remember that Lord Luo Ye dislikes those aristocrats who think they are superior to others, so you must be humble, even to the poor people, be polite."

Lin Lei looked at some poor people beside him.

Not far away, a seven or eight-year-old boy with a thin and bony face was wearing tattered hemp clothes, the hemp clothes were black and oily. The little boy was staring at Lin Lei with wide eyes, looking curious and fearful.

Because he was too thin, his eyes became even more prominent.

That gaze was indeed piercing, and it made Lin Lei's heart skip a beat.

Lin Lei didn't do much, just followed Gilmer and continued to move forward. Along the way, Lin Lei saw many poor children. These children were poorly clothed, mostly very thin.

  "We're here." Gilmer said suddenly.

Lin Lei couldn't help but turn his head to look over.

All I saw was a shack made of corrugated iron in front, an old man like a beggar sitting in front of the house. The old man was so thin that it made people's hearts tremble, his skin seemed to be all wrinkled up, and those hands were like chicken claws, only bones and a layer of skin left.

An old fellow like him was now gazing at Lin Lei with great interest.

"Lord of the Falling Leaves." Gilmir said respectfully.

"Is he really Lord Fallen Leaf?" Lin Lei had always been uncertain in his heart, but seeing Gilmer act like this, he couldn't help but believe it.

Is this old beggar-like man, who seems like he could be blown away by a gust of wind, really the top-level strongman 'Rakuyou' of the sacred domain?

"Gilmer, is this the talented young fellow you were telling me about?" the old beggar asked.

"Yes, Lord Leaf." Gilmir replied respectfully.

"Grandfather of fallen leaves, grandfather of fallen leaves, please save my mother, she was beaten by someone." Only a tender voice was heard, and a little girl was walking towards him step by step with her frail mother on her back.

The old beggar immediately walked over and stretched out his right hand.

The holy light shone down, and the seriously injured woman recovered at an astonishing speed.

The old beggar turned his head to look at Lin Lei: "I will only teach people who are kind-hearted and have a pure soul. And you... your killing intent is too heavy, I won't teach you."

Gillmer was taken aback by these words.

"Is your killing intent too heavy?" Lin Lei's face had a hint of a smile.

The deep-seated hatred for his father and mother's killer made Lin Lei suffer in silence every day. He always wanted to kill Patterson, but he had to remain calm and not act impulsively. This forced restraint only intensified Lin Lei's desire to kill.

"Lord Fallen Leaf, I bid you farewell." Lin Lei slightly bowed his head and turned around to leave directly.

The beggar who had originally wanted to say a few more words was taken aback by Lin Lei's sudden departure, but then a hint of a smile appeared on his face.
