Chapter 28: The Warmth of Dawn

After returning to the troops, the wounded were settled and the group that was caught at the dock was dealt with. Shang Xi immediately convened an analysis meeting for tonight's pursuit action.

After several rounds of commotion, when Shang Que let everyone disperse, the time had truly reached the third watch of the night.

Actually, the arrested gang was also stubborn and refused to say anything. Since no useful information could be obtained through interrogation, Shang Yi handed them over to a higher authority for further investigation. It's possible that they might get some leads from the more detailed information about this gang. As for the escaped smuggling ship, Shang Yi had already contacted the Beijing Naval Special Warfare Command and let them handle it.

He Mian didn't leave with the other soldiers. After they were all gone, she hesitated and walked to Shang Qi's side.

"Boss, thanks for tonight." He Yunting spoke up just as Shang Yi was organizing the documents on his desk.

"It's nothing." His head didn't even lift, and Shang Qi's expression didn't fluctuate in the slightest.

He Yuting heard the calmness in Shang Yi's words, her heart slightly trembled, and in an instant, she smiled again: "Chief, the cafeteria has prepared hot porridge, would you like to go with me to have a bowl? These past two days everyone hasn't had time to eat, don't exhaust yourself."

Shang Yi put on the military coat after taking it from He Deputy: "Thanks for He Deputy's kindness, but I want to go home for a while. Let He Deputy go by himself, remember to let everyone eat more, tomorrow morning and afternoon training are cancelled, and start again at night. The brothers haven't slept since last evening, we have to take care of their bodies."

"General has made up his mind, I will talk to them about it... General, goodbye." He Yunchang didn't notice the reluctant gaze in his eyes.

"Goodbye." Shang Xi didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Shang Yi didn't drive out in a military vehicle, but instead drove his own silver Lamborghini.

When he returned to the villa, the villa was pitch black. In the darkness, Shang Siqian turned on the first floor lamp and thought about not waking up Gu Xiyan, so he took a bath in the bathroom downstairs.

When getting up from the bathtub, his head was a bit dizzy, and it was reasonable that he had been casual about four meals. With low food intake and high energy output, it's normal to have some minor problems.

Shang Yi searched the kitchen for a while, but didn't find any ready-to-eat food. He couldn't help but laugh at himself, thinking that he was really asking for trouble. Well, having a bowl of congee at this time wouldn't be bad either.

Shang Yi was about to start cooking porridge, when Gu Xiyan suddenly appeared beside him wearing only a thin nightgown.

"Qi?" Gu Xiyan was surprised to see Shang Yi Qi still husking rice at 4 am, but as soon as she saw his pale face, she didn't bother asking and immediately said: "Qi, let me do it, you go rest on the sofa for a while."

"It's just that I'm a bit hungry, never mind." A warm feeling rose from the corner of Shang Qi's heart, and he didn't refuse Gu Xiyan's kindness. He went out to the kitchen. Before leaving, he buttoned his coat on Gu Xiyan.

Gu Xiyan thought that cooking porridge would take too much time, so she gave up on the idea. Walking to the refrigerator, she took out a bag of dumplings from the bottom shelf.

At dinner time, Gu Xiyan packed more dumplings than needed, only cooking the amount for two people, and freezing the rest.

Gu Xiyan is not the first time to wrap dumplings, but the wrapped dumplings are only slightly better than before, to put it bluntly, they are still pathetic. Fortunately, the filling did not come out when cooking the dumplings, which is a blessing in disguise!

She found a soup plate and scooped up the steaming dumplings, then Gu Xiyan poured some chili sauce into a small bowl and added soy sauce. After that, she mixed the two together. It's not good to eat too much spicy food in the morning, so Gu Xiyan just added a little chili sauce for flavor.

Put things on the tea table in the living room, Shang Yi started without hesitation, picked up a dumpling and ate it.

"Qǐ, have some soup and warm yourself up." Gu Xiyuan reminded her with concern.

Shang Yi nodded during the interval of eating dumplings. Although the appearance of the dumplings was not optimistic, the dumplings themselves were still very delicious. Some of the dumplings were filled with meat, which was much more nutritious than plain porridge.

After taking a sip of the soup, Shang Yi Kai picked up a relatively decent-looking dumpling and brought it to Gu Xi Yan's lips. However, Gu Xi Yan lightly pushed his hand away, saying: "You eat, I'm not hungry."

Shang Yi didn't insist, and after dipping it in some sauce, he swallowed the dumpling.

"Qi, it's so late, why not rest in the barracks?" The aroma of dumplings occasionally wafted into Gu Xiyan's nostrils, and Gu Xiyan was somewhat tempted by her appetite.

"I promised I'd come back home." Shang Xi finished a bowl of dumplings, looking like he wasn't quite full yet.

Gu Xiyan took over his soup plate and deliberately teased him: "In the past, I've never seen you look so hungry."

Fortunately, Gu Xiyan had cooked a lot of dumplings, and in no time, another bowl of dumplings was placed in front of Shang Yiqi.

Shang Yi accepted the dumplings, but Gu Xiyan's stomach suddenly growled loudly.

Her face turned red with embarrassment, Gu Xiyan hastily explained: "I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry at all, it wanted to call me and there's nothing I can do about it."

Gu Xiyan's explanation soon became weak and powerless, because as soon as her voice fell, there was another rumble in her lower abdomen.

She lowered her head so low that she wished she could move herself to the very edge of the sofa.

Shang Yi put down the soup bowl and walked over to Gu Xiyan, pulling her up: "Still saying you're not hungry, stubbornly insisting on being polite until it hurts."

Gu Xiyan neither confirmed nor denied his assessment. Who made her stomach not cooperate and cry out? Anyway, she would never admit that she was hungry.

Shang Yi no longer just ate by himself, this time, no matter how hard Gu Xiyan tried to persuade him that she was full, he insisted on forcing her to eat more.

Under Qiang's gentle persuasion, Gu Xiyan ate a total of eight dumplings and drank over ten sips of soup.

The two of them ate and drank their fill. Gu Xiyan put the dishes in hot water to soak, but before she could start washing, Shang Qi gave her a hug and took her upstairs.

After brushing his teeth, Shang Xi Qi leaned against Gu Xiu Yan and fell onto the bed. He kissed and touched her for a while, then pressed half of his body on top of hers, burying his head in her neck, suddenly becoming still.

Gu Xiyan gently lifted up Shang Yi's body and only then did she discover that he had fallen asleep.

What's wrong with him now? Gu Xiyan chuckled and tidied up his sleeping posture, which took some effort. It seemed he was really exhausted!
