Zhao Yanlan arrived in the classroom more than an hour later. After thanking Gu Xiyuan and Wei Zhe, she took Cangcang away.
"I'll send you back." Wei Zhe picked up Xiao Yan Tou and still spoke warmly to Gu Xiyan.
"We can go home!" The little girl exclaimed excitedly.
"Yan'er, thank you Uncle Wei." Gu Xiyan and Wei Zhe walked side by side, smiling lightly as she patted the little guy's shoulder. She reminded him.
The little girl expressed her gratitude in a very enthusiastic way. After kissing Wei Zhe's face, she smiled and said "Thank you Uncle Wei."
After arriving at the teaching building, Gu Xiyan opened her umbrella. The umbrella was not very big, just enough to cover one person, but not enough for two people. When they first entered the teaching building, the rain was still relatively small, and getting wet a little didn't matter. But it's clear that now it's pouring heavily.
The rain in the early spring of Beijing is very cold, to the point where it can be said to be freezing. As a result, Gu Xiyan couldn't help but feel awkward. If she didn't want to get splashed by the rain, she would have to get closer to Wei Zhe. But if they got too close, it would seem too intimate. And if they kept their distance, one of them would inevitably get soaked.
Xu Xiyan's mind was turning over many thoughts, but Wei Zhe didn't think that much. "Xiyan, let's hurry up. Otherwise, the rain will get heavier later."
"Mommy, let's hurry home." The little girl also called out.
It was a helpless situation. Gu Xiyan told herself that the innocent would clear themselves. Along with Wei Zhe, the three of them walked towards the parking lot inside the school together.
A thin layer of rainwater had accumulated on the ground. Gu Xiyan and Wei Zhe's path to the parking lot was occasionally splashed with water as they walked. The parking lot at Xiaoyuan's school was outdoors. When the three arrived, a person got out of a silver-white Lamborghini.
"Father." The little girl's eyes sparkled as she quickly called out for someone.
Shang Yiqi's eyes flashed with a hint of displeasure as he saw Gu Xiyuan and Wei Zhe standing together, but his expression remained calm. He walked over to the three of them, holding an umbrella. "Yan'er, Daddy will carry you to the car."
"Let Wei Zhe carry him instead. It's just a few more steps." Gu Xiyan felt a faint sense of pleasure in her heart the moment she saw Shang Qi.
Wei Zhe carried Xiao Yaotou to Shang Yi Qi's car and only then discovered that there was someone else sitting inside the car.
Wei Zhe put Xiao Yatou in the back seat of the car, and Gu Xiyan also got in. She handed an umbrella to Wei Zhe and said considerately, "Let's hurry up and go. This rain doesn't know when it will stop. Let's get home early."
"Goodbye." Wei Zhe's eyes were reluctant to part, but he still stepped back with his umbrella. His hand grasped the umbrella handle tightly, the force almost deforming the metal handle.
When he... can proudly stand by her side. No matter who appears. He has... no need to avoid it.
Shang Yi drove away quickly in his sports car after leaving school. Wei Zhe gazed at the silver sports car disappearing into the distance under the dark sky, feeling a lump in his throat. The wind was strong and he was caught off guard by the cold gusts.
He walked to his own car, Wei Zhe sighed bitterly. This big car was empty without her. It was truly desolate and cold. He slumped into the driver's seat, but for a long time, he showed no signs of starting the car.
I think I've fallen for him. Hehe. Yanyan, how can you... say something like that.
On the other side, like a swift arrow cutting through the gray-black sky, Shang Xi's car drove steadily on the highway. Inside the car, Gu Xiyuan took out the cotton candy from her bag and handed it to Xiao Yatou. "Yan'er, do you want some?"
"Want. Grape flavor. Yan'er likes." The little girl took off her shoes and snuggled up on the back seat.
"Mummy, you eat too." The little girl bit into a cotton candy and then took out two more from the bag and gave them to Gu Xiyan.
"Hmm." Gu Xiyan simply put the sugar into her own pocket.
She suddenly leaned over to the middle of the driver and passenger seats. The little girl, wearing pink gloves, held a piece of candy in her small hand and handed it to the person sitting in the passenger seat. "Auntie He, have some. It's delicious."
"Yan'er still remembers me." He Ruo's tone was slightly emotional, and it was also hard to conceal his surprise.
"How could I forget? Yan'er has a very good memory." The little girl was praised and suddenly became proud.
"Thank you, Yan'er." He Yu's tone became cheerful and the serious look on his face softened a bit.
"Aunt He, Yan'er likes you." The little girl tilted her head and thought for a moment before saying.
"Auntie also likes Yan'er." He Yueshan forced out a smile, still not quite used to smiling.
Gu Xiyan covered Xiao Yatou's lower body with both hands, afraid that she would fall. This child.
Shang Yi slowed down the car on purpose. While Xiao Yatou saw her father driving and didn't dare disturb him. After talking to He Yun for a while, her feet were a bit sore. She retreated back to the back seat of the car.
"Mummy, Yan'er wants to sleep for a while. When the car stops, Mummy will wake me up, okay?" The little girl gave Gu Xiuyan a gentle kiss before lying down flat. Her small head rested on Gu Xiuyan's thigh. She struck a pose of a well-behaved baby sleeping.
She smiled lightly and took off her own jacket to cover the little guy.
The little girl soon fell asleep. Gu Xiyan had one hand on the little girl's shoulder, and the other gently stroking her braids.
The car was very quiet, as if everyone had reached a consensus. No one spoke loudly to disturb the little guy's rest. Gu Xiyan saw that the little girl was sleeping soundly and not tossing about, so she slightly raised her head and twisted her neck to relieve the fatigue in her neck caused by bowing her head.
A pair of beautiful eyes scanned the surroundings from the back seat of the car, inadvertently meeting the gaze reflected in the rearview mirror. Gu Xiyan was taken aback for a moment.
She suppressed her own daze. Gu Xiyan's face didn't show any expression. But in her heart, she was already in a mess.
At this moment, the woman in the passenger seat had an expression that wasn't entirely unfamiliar to her. She had seen it more than once on Mu Si's face - adoration, longing, and yearning. The only difference was that this woman's eyes held a deeper sense of hidden and cautious devotion.
Also, how could she ignore him? He is such an outstanding man. Falling in love with him was a very easy thing to do, wasn't it? Look, there's another woman who has fallen in love with him now.
After the car died, Shang Xiaoqi first got out of the back seat and carried Xiaoyao into the villa. He Yiran didn't get out of the car, but looked through the window towards the door of the villa. At that time, Shang Xiaoqi and Gu Xiyen were walking very close together. He Yiran's eyes involuntarily welled up with tears. They really were a family of three. They seemed to be getting along well and harmoniously. She tried hard to smile and congratulate them, but she could only manage a sorrowful curve on her face.
This is really unlike herself. He Yu took advantage of the business to quickly wipe away the marks at the corner of her eyes and restored her usual upright and cold elegance.
Gu Xiyan put back on the clothes she had originally covered Xiao Yatou with. It was still very cold outside the car. She couldn't help but shiver a few times. Shang Qi came down from upstairs. She wanted to say something, but in the end, only managed to utter: "Qi, are you leaving?"
Shang Yi nodded slightly, thinking to himself about the scene of her and Wei Zhe being close together. His heart suddenly felt like it was in a cold and snowy place. He turned his head, not forgetting that there was still someone on the car waiting for him to escort them.
Not a word was said. Gu Xiyan watched as he walked out the door with big strides, his back to her. Her lips pressed together tightly, feeling a bit chilled and uncomfortable. She didn't know what she had done wrong again.
But thinking that her husband would be in the same space as someone who had a crush on him, Gu Xiyan's heart felt even more suffocated. Although she knew they were innocent, she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at the bottom of her heart. Gu Xiyan told herself that no matter which woman it was, none would want their husband to be coveted by others.
Haven't sorted out those messy thoughts yet. Gu Xiyan quickly walked to the gate.
Shang Yi's car was just driving out. Gu Xiyan didn't know what was wrong with her. Suddenly, she wanted to say a sentence to him: "Yi, go home early."
She ran out a few steps, chasing after the car. The cold rain pounded against her pale face, bringing on a chill. The car slowly drove away. Gu Xiyan stopped in her tracks. The rain continued to wreak havoc on her body.
It wasn't until she had somewhat regained her composure that Gu Xiyan thought of going back to take shelter from the rain. She wiped the rainwater off her face and let out a futile sigh.
Just about to turn around, but not far away, the car lights lit up. Thought there was a car passing by. Gu Xiyan retreated to one side with some difficulty. Until the car drove closer, she finally reacted belatedly. It was Shang Ye's car.
The car door was suddenly opened. Gu Xiyan hadn't thought of how to deal with the situation in front of her yet. Shang Qi had already appeared in front of her, his anger bursting out. "What are you doing? What's the point of coming out on a day like today?"
The angry rebuke that came head-on made Gu Xiyan lower her head in shame. Tears swirled uncontrollably in her eyes. The quietly surging tears and rainwater blended together, indistinguishable from one another - which ones were the biting cold rain, and which ones were the sorrowful icy tears.
She didn't like him scolding her. Didn't like... Has she become so fragile now? As soon as he made a single accusation, she would be deeply hurt. Gu Xiyan wanted to lift her head and tell Shang Yue that she hadn't intentionally tried to chase him away. But her throat felt like it was blocked by something. As soon as she spoke, it would turn into sobs.
Forget it. Forget it. Not another word. Gu Xiyan turned around wearily and headed towards the direction of the villa door.
He couldn't help but feel a surge of anger at her appearance, and he took two steps forward, grabbing her arm. He yelled over the sound of the rain, "Can't you speak? Speak!"
Shang Yi's anger was not fake. Originally he was already annoyed because she and Wei Zhe were too close, now she still had this attitude.
Gu Xiyan bowed her head even lower, a wave of pain spreading from her arm. She stood silently, until she was soaked to the bone. Raindrops slid down her forehead, over the tip of her nose, and across her lips, before flowing down her pale chin and into her neck. The dark sky poured down torrential rain. Between the two people, one gaze was cool and detached, with a hint of unknown pity. The other stubbornly trapped their own heart within the besieged city, refusing to come out.
Two people, so close yet so far apart.
