Eighteen Courtyard

A shrill wail rose, making ones hair stand on end. Liu Ce pulled out the spearhead that had been thrust into the bandit leaders chest and gave it a flick, sending blood drops flying everywhere. On the ground, over a dozen bandit corpses lay scattered in all directions, while several who were not quite dead yet kept twisting their bodies and gasping for breath.

Yang Kaisan stood in the center, posing with what he thought was his most majestic posture, with a heavy ghost-headed knife on his shoulder; Yang Youhuai, on the other hand, was spinning the chain hammer in his hand with great interest, with a smile at the corner of his mouth; Feng Ying protected Qing Jie and Baoer, finally relaxing her grip on the copper hammer; Qing Jie held Baoer in her arms, covering her eyes with her hands, afraid that she would see blood.

Liu Ce wiped the gun head clean and walked towards the mule cart in front, passing by Yang Kais side, he somehow pulled out a dry grass stem and stuffed it into his mouth, Yang Kai didnt react, just like that, with the dry grass in his mouth, he stood with one hand on his waist, smiling as he looked at the sacks on the mule cart.

After spending over a dozen days together, the group gradually became familiar with each other, and the atmosphere was no longer as awkward as before. This time, just as they were about to run out of food, Liu Ce took the initiative to suggest that they pose as bandits and rob a grain transport team. After two days of reconnaissance, they finally seized this opportunity with a relatively high chance of success - successfully ambushing a 12-man grain transport team.

"Wow, all potatoes, sweet potatoes, and some white rice! Come quick and see, theres even half a bag of salt. It looks like we wont have to worry about our stomachs for at least several months!" Yang couldnt wait to open the bags in the car, which were filled with urgently needed food supplies.

"Little Tiger!" Liu Ce shouted loudly, and a boy of about 13 or 14 years old darted out from the edge of the forest, wearing a blue short shirt, bare-armed, holding a plum blossom stick in his hand, with a fierce look on his face, staring fixedly at Liu Ce. Before he could finish speaking, Liu Ce kicked him to the side.

"Stop nagging and hurry up with packing, lets hit the road!" Liu Ce was also fed up with this guy.

This man named Hu Zi, whose real name is Liu Hu, was a servant of a local landlords family. He loved to dance with guns and sticks, and he was quite sturdy. After the bandits broke into Gaoyang City, the local wealthy landlords were also affected, and Hu Zis employers family was killed, leaving only himself lucky enough to escape. He wandered around, escaping difficulties, and a few days ago, he and a group of refugees were surrounded by dozens of bandits, but fortunately, Liu Ce and his party passed by and killed the bandits, saving them. So Liu Hu followed them, taking advantage of their kindness. Liu Ce and Yang Kai saw that he was physically strong, so they took him in and let him travel with them. Unexpectedly, this guy was not a peaceful master, always bragging and boasting when there was nothing to do, but when it came time to see blood, he would immediately hide without a trace. After the crisis passed, he would reappear in front of everyone, boasting again, leaving Liu Ce and his party speechless. Fortunately, except for being cowardly, he was otherwise normal and didnt do anything out of line, so they let him do whatever he wanted. Because he loved to brag, he often made people laugh, even making Bao Er rarely smile.

Huzi skillfully tied up the dozens of sacks of grain on the cart, shouldered two bags and loaded them onto Qings cart. He then picked up the fallen weapons from the fleeing bandits and threw them onto the cart. Taking up the whip used to urge on the horses, he sat on the mule cart and with a forceful swing, "Whoosh... Crack!" The sound of the whip splitting the air echoed through the heavens...

"Look at me, Ill trample the bandits camp and break their momentum!" Hu Zi boasted as he drove his mule cart forward. Feng Ying followed closely behind on horseback, her scarred face twitching with each step. Yang Youhuai rode up to Liu Ce and Yang Kaisan and asked: "What kind of goods have you two taken in?"

"What a scourge...” Yang Kai Shan finally spat out this sentence after scolding his younger brother for a long time. Liu Ce was also helpless, and this Liu Hu really is a treasure of a person. However, in such a chaotic world, he can still be so "fearless (heartless) and optimistic (lungs gone)", its clear that his mental quality is also strong."

"Brother Yang, Old Feng, theres a village up ahead, it seems like someone is there. Ill go scout it out, if its okay, we can rest there for the night." After walking for about two hours, a village appeared in the distance, with smoke rising from the chimneys. Liu Ce thought of going to investigate and said to Yang Kai Shan and Feng Ying: "Ill accompany you, Brother Liu." Yang had developed a good impression of Liu Ce over the past few days and knew that Liu Ce was a few years older than him, so he kept calling him "Brother Liu".

"No need, brothers Yang and the others, find a quiet place to hide for now. Qing Jie and Baoer still need your care. Ill be back soon." After saying that, he gave a fist bump to Yang Youhuai, Yang Kaisan and the others, and glanced at Hu Zi with narrowed eyes as he passed by his carriage.

"What are you doing? What do you want to do?" Hu Zi felt that Liu Ces gaze was not good, and he nervously held his stick in front of his chest.

"General Liu, now you and I will go to Ma Tiao Lianying together." Liu Ce teased him with a glance.

"Never mind, General will stay here to cover your back, you can go ahead without worrying... what the... Ahhh... let me go! Im not going!" Before he could finish boasting, Liu Ce had already lifted him onto his horse.

"Be careful, Liu brothers, well wait for you by the small woods by the river." Yang Kai Shan thought about what Liu Ce had said earlier and it also made sense. Qing Jie mother and daughter still needed someone to take care of them in case something unexpected happened. Moreover, Liu Ces skills were unmatched, and he himself had previously been defeated by him after only ten moves, unable to withstand his unpredictable marksmanship. And his brain was a few times better than his own, so this trip should be fine.

Liu Ce led the tiger cub slowly towards the Zhuangzi, dismounting and crawling with the tiger cub behind a small hill to observe. Seeing that the large Zhuangzi was full of people moving about, judging from their clothing they seemed to be refugees, not bandits or thieves. "Stay here and dont move." Liu Ce signaled to the tiger cub before quietly making his way around the small hill towards the Zhuangzi...

When Liu Ce walked to the entrance of the village, several people on the village shouted in horror towards the inside. In a short while, dozens of refugees holding various tools and wearing tattered clothes rushed to the entrance of the village under the leadership of a giant with an iron leaf armor and a long-handled axe. Liu Ce took down his long gun from behind his back and prepared for battle at any time.

"One man with a gun dares to rush into our territory and rob us! Believe it or not, Ill twist your neck off!" The bald-headed man stepped out loudly, standing at the front, staring at Liu Ce, but after taking one glance, he froze, saying "Is that you?"

Liu Ce gazed at the giant figure of the big Han, always feeling a bit familiar, but couldnt recall where he had seen him before. Just as he was about to speak, the bald man swung his axe and let out a loud roar, charging towards Liu Ce.

Liu Ce only felt a gust of wind sweeping in front of him, and he hastily retreated several steps to avoid the axes momentum. His long spear stabbed back, but the bald man dodged to the side, and the spearhead almost grazed his face as it swept past. Liu Ce saw that his spear attack had failed, so he changed his tactic from stabbing to sweeping, swinging the spear towards the bald mans face. Unexpectedly, although the bald man was tall and large, his body was extremely agile, and with a swift dodge, he avoided this sweep. Liu Ces spear swung empty once again, but then he saw the bald mans axe swing in a wide arc, chopping down horizontally...

Liu Ce flipped his hand to grasp the gun, the tip of the gun slanted and stabbed into the ground to borrow force and jump up, avoiding this fatal blow. As soon as he landed, he slapped the barrel of the gun, and the long gun rolled several times in mid-air before being grasped in his hand...

Baldy let out a loud roar, and the giant axe swung sideways once again. Liu Zhi felt that this axes momentum was like an avalanche.
