Chapter Twelve: The Haunted Tomb Chamber

The city of Luoyang is vast in area, with high walls surrounding the outside, while inside it is divided into two major areas, namely the inner city and outer city.

The inner city is the core of Licheng, and most officials and nobles live in the inner city. Half of the soldiers in Licheng are also stationed in the inner city. The inner city is prosperous to the extreme, while the outer city seems a bit desolate, with many places being uninhabited. The tomb of King Xian is one of them.

The small mountain where King Xings tomb is located was originally called something else, but few people know what it was, and locals refer to the mountain as King Xing Mountain, a name that naturally comes from King Xings tomb.

Although the short man had a mind to cheat and harm people, he was very dedicated to telling many things about the tomb of King Xing along the way.

The tomb of King Xīn is buried with an emperor, said to be a mid-term emperor of the previous dynasty, already over a thousand years ago. In the past, when the previous dynasty was still in power, the area around the tomb of King Xīn was heavily guarded by soldiers. Now that the previous dynasty has become history, even the former imperial capital of Lùyáng is no longer the capital, and the tomb of King Xīn has also been abandoned.

It is said that this place is very evil, and a group of tomb robbers once entered the tomb of King Xian, wanting to steal the treasure. As soon as they opened the entrance to the tomb, one of the robbers was suddenly possessed by an evil spirit and killed all his companions, with only one robber barely escaping alive.

Later, the evil spirit vanished into thin air, and this place was also regarded as a forbidden area by local people, and no one went up the mountain again.

However, it is unknown whether those were just boasts from the short men or if they actually happened. When arriving at the foot of Mount Xinwang, Qin Lingyun indeed did not see anyone going up Mount Xinwang, and everyone was taking a detour.

"Li Haoze didnt mention encountering any danger in the jade slip, so even if there were some minor traps, it shouldnt be a big problem. But why there are immortal cultivators treasures in Xinfengs tomb is still an enigma."

The mountain road was rugged and uneven. Qin Ling spent the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, and finally climbed to the top of Xinfeng Mountain, where she saw the tomb of King Xinfeng.

The tomb of the King of Faith looks dilapidated, with a circular altar on the ground, some broken stone men and horses on it, and a half-fallen stone archway in front. Qin Lingyun looked carefully and found that there were many strange and intricate patterns carved on it, which was probably an ancient decoration.

A flight of white jade stone steps leads up to the altar, and in the center of the altar stands a massive stone stele.

"The entrance discovered by Li Haoze is right on that stone tablet." Qin Lingyun walked towards the stone tablet.

The stone monument is about ten meters high and five or six meters wide. Its unknown how such a heavy monument was placed here. Qin Lingyun walked in front of the monument, staring at the carved characters on it.

"The seal on the stone tablet has been broken by Li Haoze, and when he left, he set up another layer of seals. Fortunately, he left a way to open it, otherwise I wouldnt have been able to break the seal." Qin Lingyun thought to herself.

Her fingers pressed on the stone tablet, inputting a thread of spiritual power. After the stone tablet absorbed the spiritual power, the sound of machinery came from the side of the ground where Qin Lingyun was standing, and suddenly a square hole opened up.

The entrance was dark and mysterious, with a staircase leading all the way down. Qin Lingyuns heart rejoiced: "Its here, it seems that no one has discovered this seal after Li Haoze left."

Although this is the tomb of King Xīn, its still a mortal city after all. Most cultivators cultivate in areas filled with spiritual energy and its basically impossible for them to come here, so theres a great possibility that no one has discovered it.

Qin Lingyun was afraid of being discovered, so she didnt dare to linger and went down the stairs all the way. There was no light on the stairs, but fortunately Qin Lingyun had exceptional eyesight, even in the dark, she could barely see things in front of her.

From the stairs all the way down, Qin Lingyun walked deeper and deeper, as if this was a passage leading directly to the heart of the mountain.

Judging from the level of her descent, the real tomb of Queen Sin should be in a place close to the ground.

Qin Lingyun finally reached the bottom, where a thick stone gate came into view. The gate was half-open, and it was Li Haoze who had opened it last time. With his cultivation of ten layers of refining energy, he had solved many mechanisms, otherwise Qin Lingyun wouldnt have been able to reach the tomb so easily. This path seemed easy, but in fact, there were many dangers along the way.

As they passed through the stone gate, Qin Lingyun took out Qingling Sword and held it in her hand, while Hu Die also brought hers out, entering the tomb with utmost caution.

The chamber inside is spacious, a vast hall with precious fluorescent stones inlaid on the top, and the faint fluorescence makes the hall no longer pitch black. At the bottom are placed three vermilion stone coffins, with intricate ancient patterns carved on them.

For some reason, after Qin Lingyun entered, she saw three coffins and a strange feeling rose from her heart, as if something was not quite right, but when she looked around, she didnt find anything suspicious.

There are three doors on the three sides of this tomb chamber, leading to three subsidiary secret rooms. Li Haoze obtained the treasure from one of the secret rooms, and at that time he didnt have time to check the other secret rooms before hastily leaving the Xinwang Tomb.

"Li Haoze entered the secret room on the left, Ill go take a look first."

The entire tomb was filled with a gloomy atmosphere, if it were the former Qin Lingyun, alone in this dimly lit tomb, accompanied only by three coffins, she would have been terrified. Fortunately, since her cultivation, her courage had changed, even though there was still a chill running down her spine, she wouldnt be frozen with fear anymore.

The floor of the tomb was paved with large slabs of white stone, polished to a high gloss and smoothness. Qin Lingyun walked between them with increased caution, her footsteps light and gentle, until she reached the stone gate on the left side.

The stone gate was not heavy, Qin Lingyun stretched out her palm and pushed it hard. The sound of "kaka" echoed, the stone gate slowly opened. Qin Lingyun did not rush in, but stood outside and looked inside with all her might. She saw three stone boxes lined up neatly against the wall in the secret room, and between the stone boxes, there was a skull.

Qin Lingyuns heart skipped a beat as she suddenly saw the skull, startling her. At the same time, she grasped the Qingling Sword to protect herself. After a while, seeing that nothing unexpected happened, her vigilance dissipated slightly.

"Li Haoze never mentioned anything about a skull, its too strange." Qin Lingyun realized that she had overlooked many things, this Wangs tomb was established over a thousand years ago, and in all these years, hadnt anyone discovered the prohibition on the stone tablet?

Li Haoze was only at the tenth level of Qi Refining, yet he could already destroy mechanisms. What about cultivators with even higher cultivation? Within a thousand years, its certain that someone must have entered the tomb passage before. Why didnt they move the treasure away? Qin Lingyun simply didnt believe that no one had entered the tomb chamber in a thousand years.

"There must be some unknown secrets in here, and maybe even inexplicable dangers. Although I dont know how Li Haoze obtained the treasure, I probably wont have his good luck."

Qin Lingyun made a decision in an instant, this place had too many mysteries, it was very mysterious and abnormal. With her low-level cultivation, she didnt have the power to explore these secrets, so its better to leave immediately.

Qin Lingyun no longer cared about anything else and turned around to leave in the direction she came from.

She had just run a few steps when there was a loud rumbling sound and the massive stone gate that she came in through automatically closed.

"Kua kua......" A heart-wrenching sound echoed, and the lid of the crimson stone coffin with intricate carvings on the left side of the three stone coffins placed in the center of the grand hall was slowly moving.

Qin Lingyuns body hair all stood up, although she was already a cultivator, but such a strange thing was still encountered for the first time.

After the coffin lid was lifted a little, a withered big hand suddenly stretched out and grasped the coffin lid. The big hand was covered with green hair, looking very frightening.

"Could it be that the corpse inside the stone coffin has been there for so long that its turned into a zombie?" Qin Lingyun felt her breathing quicken. She had once read about zombies in the Secret Records of Cultivation, where human and demonic beast corpses would transform into zombies under special circumstances, absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. Zombies could swallow and spit out the essence of the sun and moon, constantly transforming and cultivating, their strength continuously rising.

The lowest-level green-haired zombie is equivalent to a Qi-refining period cultivator, while the more powerful white-haired zombies are equivalent to Foundation Establishment period cultivators. Above the white-haired zombies are the Flying Heaven Copper Corpse, Extreme Heaven Silver Corpse, and Golden Corpse King, which correspond to Core Formation period, Nascent Soul period, and Spirit Severing period cultivators, respectively. There are also some variant zombies with unique abilities.

And this big hand that only stretched out of the coffin was covered with green hair, and the one inside the coffin should be a green-haired zombie equivalent to a refining qi practitioner. Similarly, as a green-haired zombie, there are also differences in strength, just like as a refining qi practitioner, from first layer to twelfth layer, the strength is vastly different.

Qin Lingyun didnt dare to move her feet, while the coffin lid slowly opened halfway. A terrifying roar like a wolfs howl echoed out, and a green glow flashed from inside the coffin. A monster covered in green fur stood at the edge of the coffin. The monster was tall and imposing, with two eye sockets that seemed to have two burning green flames, shining with an eerie green glow. Its body still had remnants of clothing, and the color and style of the clothes could be roughly seen, indicating that this green-haired zombie should have been a young woman.

The green-haired zombie emerged and looked towards Qin Lingyun, while low growling in its mouth, two sharp fangs protruded from its mouth, its legs slightly bent, and its body shot towards Qin Lingyun like an arrow off the string.

"Not good." The green-haired zombie moved extremely fast, it raised its claws and swiped at Qin Lingyuns head, the long black fingernails on its claws gleaming with a strange pale purple glow, obviously highly toxic.

Qin Lingyun dodged in time, and hastily turned the Qingling Sword in her hand to face the double claws.

Among the sparks, the Qingling Sword happened to stab into one of the left claws. Qin Lingyun was initially delighted, but her heart sank again. She had thought that with the sharpness of the Qingling Sword, she could cut off the left claw with just one sword, but when the Qingling Sword collided with the left claw, relying solely on her strength, it couldnt even penetrate halfway.

The left claw of the Green-haired Zombie had a strong defensive power, and it firmly withstood the low-grade spiritual artifact Qingling Sword. At the same time, its right claw slapped down on the Qingling Sword in a swift motion.
