Chapter 22: Looking Down on People with the Eyes of a Dog

Qin Lingyun wanted to flip through it and take a look, but the old man seemed not to allow this approach. After all, as long as a cultivators divine consciousness scanned the pages of the book, they basically remembered the contents within. This ability to memorize at a glance was something that almost every cultivator could do.

Qin Lingyuns eyes scanned the room, and she picked out another book from the pile, "Water System Magic", adding it to the "Array Entrance" in her hand. She gritted her teeth, put down two pieces of spiritual stone, turned around and left.

Leaving the area where the monks were selling their wares, Qin Lingyun quickly headed towards the location of the shops.

On the way, Qin Lingyun casually flipped open "Array Method Introduction" which recorded more than a dozen different primary array methods, most of which required the use of array flags.

"It seems that I have nine array flags in my hand, which are used by the old man to set up the formation. Can I use the array flags to set up a formation on my own?"

Qin Lingyun thought for a moment: "Lets go take a look at the place where the formation is being sold first, and then make a decision later."

The shop was located in a place that was only a short distance away from the street where the monks were selling their wares. When Qin Lingyun arrived on this street, she found that the entire appearance of this place was vastly different from the street where the monks were selling their wares. On both sides of the street stood tall and majestic buildings with ancient charm, unique in shape and extraordinary in style.

Most of the monks walking on the street were highly cultivated, Qin Lingyuns divine consciousness swept across and found that their cultivation was at least above the seventh layer of Qi Refining, only she was at the fourth layer.

The surrounding cultivators glanced at Qin Lingyun, then immediately turned their heads away, no longer paying attention to her. In their opinion, a cultivator like Qin Lingyun was definitely here for the first time in the market town, coming out of curiosity to experience it.

Qin Lingyun ignored the gazes of the people around her, walking along the street with her eyes occasionally scanning the shops on both sides. What she was looking for were array shops and medicinal material shops.

Qin Lingyun stopped in front of a shop, which was a store specializing in selling arrays, called Xuan Zhen Ge. The gate was old and fragrant, with eight pairs of red lanterns hanging in front of the door. From time to time, monks would walk in and out of the door, apparently doing a very good business.

Qin Lingyun stepped up to the door of the shop, just about to enter when a figure flashed out from inside. This was a man wearing a blue linen shirt with a pair of eight-shaped whiskers and had cultivated his energy to around the sixth level. A pair of small eyes sized Qin Lingyun up and down.

A hint of disdain flashed in his eyes, and the eight-character mustache man said, "To enter this pavilion, you need to have at least a cultivation level of six layers or above. Little girl, your cultivation is not enough, go back and practice for a few more decades before coming again."

Qin Lingyuns face remained expressionless, but a wave of anger surged in her heart: "This world of cultivators is too utilitarian, sometimes even more direct than ordinary people. Its really looking down on others with a dogs eyes. It seems that improving my cultivation cant be delayed any longer."

Qin Lingyun still had great confidence in her own cultivation, as long as she could prove that her blood increased the success rate of alchemy, then there would be almost unlimited elixirs for her to take, and improving her cultivation would be easy.

Qin Lingyun was about to turn around and leave, when several cultivators walked towards the Mystic Array Pavilion. The leader of the group was a woman who was roughly the same age as Qin Lingyun, with a cultivation level of only four layers of Qi Refining.

The woman had a light dusting of powder on her face, wore a red jacket with a golden clasp at the front and an eight-treasured skirt that seemed to shimmer in the air. She looked radiant and confident, while the four male cultivators following behind her were all at least at the seventh level of Qi refinement. They stood by attentively.

As soon as the eight-character man saw this famous woman, his small eyes lit up immediately, and he rushed forward, bowed and paid a courtesy, with a flattering smile on his face, saying: "Miss Huang has honored us with her presence today..."

Miss Huang cut him off impatiently: "Less nonsense, step aside quickly, Im choosing a good formation today."

The eight characters of the mans name were spoken in succession: "Is, is..."

Qin Lingyun coldly laughed and turned to leave: "They say that only those with cultivation above the sixth layer of Qi Refining can enter, but this Miss Huang is only at the fourth layer of Qi Refining. But with a powerful background behind her, she still managed to get in."

"In that case, I dont need to buy an array either. When the time comes, Ill set one up myself." Qin Lingyun made up her mind and walked into a nearby pharmacy.

This time she didnt encounter any obstruction and walked into the store smoothly.

This store called "Bai Wei Cao" had a number of people buying medicinal herbs inside. Qin Lingyun walked in and took a glance, behind the counter stood two women, one was talking to a Taoist priest while the other stood idly by, some Taoist priests were seriously examining the various medicinal herb samples displayed on the counter.

Qin Lingyun walked up to the counter, and the idle woman immediately came over, smiling: "This Taoist friend, what kind of medicine do you need?" Qin Lingyun didnt see any disdain in the womans eyes, and couldnt help but feel a little affection for her, a faint smile playing on her lips as she asked: "Excuse me, do you have any cassia fruit for sale here?"

The woman nodded: "Our store indeed has Gui Zhi fruit for sale."

Hearing that the store had Gui Zhi Guo, Qin Lingyuns heart was delighted. After chatting with the woman for a while, she spent 10 low-grade spirit stones to buy 100 Gui Zhi Guo. The price of the medicinal material wasnt expensive, but if she bought many types of medicinal materials, Qin Lingyun really wouldnt have enough spirit stones on hand.

During their conversation, Qin Lingyun casually mentioned: "Does your store accept purchases of finished elixirs for cultivation advancement?"

The woman immediately smiled and said: "Finished Dan medicine is very valuable, as long as you have it, our store will definitely buy it, and the price is negotiable."

Qin Lingyun smiled and said: "A small cultivator like me wouldnt have finished pills, I was just asking casually."

The woman naturally couldnt think that Qin Lingyun really had a finished elixir, many cultivators enter "Bai Wei Cao" every day to buy medicinal materials, and people often curiously ask similar questions, Qin Lingyuns question is not surprising, so the woman doesnt ask again.

Qin Lingyun did not take out the Qi-increasing pill. On one hand, she had yet to confirm whether her blood was effective in refining the elixir. On the other hand, with her current cultivation at only four layers of Qi Refining, she dared not reveal the secret that she possessed a Qi-increasing pill, lest it attract unwanted attention from those with ill intentions and bring unforeseen danger upon herself.

The cassia fruit was the size of a small walnut, with a dark red color and a strong fragrance. Qin Lingyun put 100 pieces of cassia fruit into her storage bag.

After Qin Lingyun left "Bai Wei Xiang", she didnt continue to stroll around the streets. Its said that this time, the streets were going to hold a large-scale auction, but Qin Lingyun thought it had nothing to do with her, so she didnt pay attention to it anymore.

"Now that I have what I need, lets leave this town and head to Jiaohu Mountain to find a cave abode to improve my cultivation." Qin Lingyun thought to herself.

Once again at the edge of the town, Qin Lingyun infused a thread of spiritual energy, and a seam opened in front of the formation. She flashed out, then took out a concealment talisman, chanted an incantation, and slapped it on herself. A burst of spiritual light flickered, and Qin Lingyuns figure eerily vanished from her original location.

"Its really hard to notice my existence unless someone deliberately uses their spiritual sense to check, this stealth talisman is indeed very practical." Qin Lingyun was worried that someone might be unfavorable to her, so as soon as she came out, she used a stealth talisman, and the effect made her very satisfied.

After waiting for a while and finding no one following her, Qin Lingyun finally felt at ease and flew away on her sword.

Actually, Qin Lingyun was being overly cautious. With her cultivation at the fourth layer of Qi Refining and keeping a low profile in the market, its unlikely that anyone would notice her. However, its always better to be safe than sorry. Ever since their trip to Xinfeng Tomb, Qin Lingyun had been extra vigilant wherever she went.

Darting through the clouds, Qin Lingyun identified the road to Jiaohu Mountain and rushed forward. Jiaohu Mountain was located in the north of Lishui City, stretching for tens of thousands of miles, where there were the Jiuyang Sword Sect, one of the five major sects of the Orthodox School, as well as numerous small sects and some powerful immortal clans.

In the Jiaohu Mountains, apart from these human Xianmen sects and clan forces, the forces of demonic beasts are also very powerful. It can be said that almost half of the Jiaohu Mountain area is within the sphere of influence of demonic beasts.

The Jiuyang Sword Sect is only located on the outskirts of Jiaohu Mountain, and the deepest part of Jiaohu Mountain is the realm of demonic beasts, where humans generally do not enter.

After half a days journey, Qin Lingyun finally saw the outline of Jiaohu Mountain.

At this time, it was already daytime, the layered green mountains were shrouded in clouds and misty light, appearing even more mysterious and unpredictable.

"Its indeed the Horned Tiger Mountain Range. Murong Henhai once had a secret cave here, if I find it, maybe I wont need to look for another one myself."

Murong Chenhais memories were fragmented and disorganized, but Qin Lingyun suddenly remembered that Murong Chenhai had a secret cave in a valley on the outskirts of Jiaohu Mountain, where he lived before successfully forming his elixir. He left after that and never came back, so it was unknown whether it still existed or not.

Inside Jiaohu Mountain, peaks are towering, and various complex landforms are intertwined. The valleys are countless. Murong Chens memory is already from one or two hundred years ago. After so many years have passed, its hard to guarantee that there wont be changes in the terrain, so finding that cave dwelling is not an easy task.

Qin Lingyun flew between the outer peaks of Jiaohu Mountain, not daring to fly high and openly, but instead sneaking in almost secretly.

After a day and night of hard work, Qin Lingyun finally found the mountain valley in Murong Chenhais memory from a small road.

A small valley was hidden among the peaks, shrouded in dense fog. Qin Lingyun stood outside the cloud and mist, her fingers pinched into a seal, following Murong Henhais memory, she cast out several spiritual seals, after which the clouds and mist churned, revealing a path that could accommodate one person.

Qin Lingyun was overjoyed: "I didnt expect it to really work, this time I dont need to set up the formation myself, this mountain valley has already been set up with an illusion array by Murong Henhai, and it hasnt been damaged for nearly two hundred years, what a stroke of luck."

Qin Lingyun walked through the cloud path, and with each step forward, the mist behind her automatically sealed itself off, blocking her way back. The mist in front of her continued to dissipate, and after a few more steps, the scene before her suddenly opened up. In the small valley was a clear brook flowing horizontally, and on one side of the brook were green bamboo trees swaying gracefully.

"The cave is just behind the bamboo forest."
