Chapter 47: Not Bad

He got out of the car first and slammed the door shut with a loud bang, without caring that it was his luxury car bought at a huge cost.

Jiang Yan didn't go down, she looked at Ruan Jianglin's back and narrowed her eyes, with an inexplicable sense of annoyance in her heart.

  He lost his patience again.

She sat in the driver's seat, and before long, the man's back disappeared into the darkness of night.

Jiang Yan pinched her phone, she was flashing a double flash, sitting alone in the car.

Jiang Yan didn't expect that this year's first snow would be welcomed in such a situation.

The dim car lights flicker in the dark night, and the snowflakes fall from the sky.

She didn't close the car window, and the fine snow floated in, turning into water.

Not long after, Ruan Jianglin came out again, holding a flashlight in his hand. He walked to the car window and knocked gently on it, seemingly having calmed down.

There was some snow on his shoulders, and he had a horizontal eyebrow, making him look somewhat fierce.

"I thought you wouldn't come back," she said softly.

It seemed that this sudden winter snow had smoothed out both of their tempers.

"Get down." He reached out and opened the car door for her.

Jiang Yan came out from inside and didn't steady herself, so she fell into Ruan Jianglin's arms, bumping into him full on.

"No need for apologies with a warm welcome."

He smiled with great satisfaction, and wrapped one arm around her waist.

  "I didn't do anything wrong."

She replied softly, her tone still carrying a hint of unresolved grievance.

"My mistake, okay?" He said with a light tone, accompanied by his usual carelessness.

The first snow was falling gently, Ruan Jiang held a flashlight in his right hand and supported her with his left hand, the two of them slowly walked back to the small bungalow.

The wind was very strong at night, blowing so hard that it stung her face, but Jiangyan hoped the road would be slower, a little slower.

When they arrived, Professor Chen and his wife were standing at the door waiting for them.

Jiang Yan felt a bit embarrassed, as the two of them were bickering in front of their teacher, looking really childish.

The two old men also brought them blankets and wiped off the fine snow on their heads.

Jiang Yan reached out to wipe away the fine snow on Ruan Jiang's eyebrows, his brow and eyes were too icy, even colder than her fingertips.

"Hurry up and go, I just let you stay behind, but you won't listen......"

Jiang Yan smiled awkwardly and followed Mrs. Chen inside.

The first snow fell heavily and soon piled up on the ground.

Outside the bedroom window, the paulownia tree is already covered with snow. The branch on the left has been blown by the strong wind and is now bent to one side, as if it's about to break under the weight of the snow.

Jiang Yan wrapped a cloak around her body, which was given by Mrs. Chen just now.

Ruan Jianglin stood behind her, embracing her from behind, his chin slightly resting on her head.

Jiang Yan leaned into his arms, wanting to take some warmth from him.

But his body was always icy cold, and after being held by him for a long time, he himself also felt very chilly.

"Ruan Jianglin, this year's first snow, I forgive you."

Forgive his sudden bad temper, forgive his anger that bursts out of the door, and forgive his scarce patience.

That night, Ruan Jiang held her in his arms, and the two were strangely quiet.

He slept soundly, but Jiang Yan couldn't sleep. At midnight, he turned over and the gap between them grew larger.

Her lower back was extremely cold, with a sharp pain that came in waves, extending all the way down to her waist, both cold and painful.

In the end, she also turned over and wrapped all the remaining quilt around her body.

It wasn't until the next day that they bid farewell to Professor Chen and his wife.

The first snow in Beicheng lasted for a very long time, until Ruan Jiang returned to Kyoto, when it gradually subsided.

After New Year's Day, Jiang Yan received a long-awaited phone call from Tang Man.

I thought that bright and beautiful girl would be very lively when she met the person she had been expecting for a long time.

Judging from her tone, she seems unenthusiastic.

Jiang Yan began to think that it must be because the conditions there were too harsh and the training was too difficult, so she went, and it must have been very hard for her to adapt.

But Tang Man told Jiang Yan that she had a narrow escape with Ruan Jiangjin.

The day after she was sent to the past, Nguyen Giang received an order to return to Kyoto and would no longer be dispatched there again.

She was in boot camp and didn't even have a cell phone, so they hadn't seen each other at all.

However, Ruan Jiangjin later found out that she had enlisted and wrote a letter over.

Tang Man had received that letter more than half a month ago. He didn't say anything, just told her to train well and take good care of herself.

Tang Man felt an indescribable sense of loss in her heart.

She had traveled thousands of miles, cut off her beloved long hair, but ended up with nothing, and she felt very uncomfortable in her heart.

But she didn't have much time to indulge in such unpleasant emotions.

Because in the troops, their training was very bitter, so bitter that Tang Man didn't even have time to think about Ruan Jiangjin.

Jiang Yan asked Tang Man how she was doing, and the impression in her mind of that bright and beautiful girl was still carelessly saying: "It's okay, at least I can eat five big mantou a day."

Actually, when Tang Man first came, she didn't do very well, probably because her motivation disappeared all at once.

Also face devil-style training and endure harsh environments.

At that time, she finally understood that Ruan Jiangjin's usual training for her was only for physical exercise.

"You don't know, I've already gotten a highland flush, you'd definitely not recognize me if you saw me."

Her tone was casual, making it impossible to tell whether she was being serious or not.

But Jiangyan thought that Tangman must be heartbroken.

When asked about things inside the military camp, Tang Man said their company commander was very fierce.

"As for yesterday, two girls in our class cried. Our class monitor directly made them squat face to face, and the squatting posture had to be correct. Then they wiped away each other's tears..."

Jiang Yan could tell from her words that their boss was extremely fierce.

"Hey, never mind me, how are you and my little uncle?"

  "It's fine." She smiled slightly.

Such days can't be said to be good, nor can they be said to be bad.

But Jiangyan thought that as long as Ruan Jianglin was by her side, safe and sound, every day, every year, it would be more than enough.

  *

That winter, all the girls in the department were popular for knitting scarves for their boyfriends. Jiang Yan was bored and followed suit, also knitting one.

But it's too ugly, she still can't bear to part with it.

So Ruan Jianglin didn't know that Jiang Yan had pricked her own hand with a bamboo needle until it bled, in order to weave a scarf for him, and even got a blister on the spot where she applied force with her index finger.

In mid-January, they had already started their winter vacation, a bit earlier than previous years, perhaps because this year was colder than the previous ones.

That day was when Ruan Jianglin came to pick her up, because she had a lot of winter clothes, her luggage was quite a bit, so much that Ruan Jianglin asked if she was preparing to move.

  "Do you pay rent?"

"Meat compensation." He bent down to fasten her seatbelt for her.

Just noticed a pink band-aid on her finger and casually asked: "Are you hurt?"

  "Uh, accidentally swiped."

  "Be careful," he said.

He took her back to No. 7 Courtyard and vacated half of his closet for her.
