Content in Bookshelf World: Newbie”
James knew it couldn’t have been so simple when everything else was so advanced. James searched for the tag of survival, and a list of thousands of books popped up. A few that stood out were Holy Pilgrimage: How to Survive Like a Fasting Monk, Saints Guide to Making Friends, and Lone Wolf: How to Survive in the Wild. James started to read the descriptions of each of the three books.
Holy Pilgrimage: How to survive like a fasting monk: In a situation where you find yourself trapped without food, mental training is key. Without enough mental strength, you won’t be able to last without food and will crumple under your cravings. You must find a water source though, as until you become a third circle mage, you will need water to survive. This is not recommended for the average person as a survival technique.

Saints guide to making friends: Making friends is important, as without connections, how would you gather the materials required for your research besides countless hours or gold coins? Just remember, not everyone is a true friend. This gives you a simple idea of how mages treat each other and what is seen as taboo between mages for forming friendships.
Lone Wolf: How to Survive in the Wild: Being alone in the wild can be scary. This book will teach you how a mage survives in the wild and even has a few level zero spells anyone with mana can use. This is a highly recommended book all newbies should read.
After reading many different book descriptions, James decided on two from the three that stood out. The two James chose were Lone Wolf: How to Survive in the Wild and Saints Guide to Making Friends. After choosing both of them, James saw the two books float off the shelf into his hands. The weird thing was that the spot the books came from still had books in it. Now that he had the book, James started to look around for a spot to sit and read it in. While looking around, James found a secluded area without anyone around. Pulling the chair out and sitting down, James grabbed the first book he wanted to read and started. The book James chose to read first was Saints Guide to Making Friends. The book wasn’t that long and just explained what friends meant to mages. It also explained the do’s and don'ts of the mage civilization. “What friends are to mages is someone you can share your research with. Someone you can trust to have your back in the abyss. Someone who won’t betray you for power. When two mages become friends, there are a few taboos you can’t violate, and if you do, all the mages will hunt you down.
- The most important taboo DON’T LEAK ANOTHER MAGES RESEARCH
- No stealing the magic essence while visiting another mages tower.
- Lastly, no disciple stealing
Besides these three taboos, the mage world is a kill or be killed world, so don’t trust anyone unless they have proven to be trustworthy. James had just finished reading when another person appeared near him. The other person didn’t talk to him but instead sat down to read a book too. James decided to ignore them and instead read his other book, Lone Wolf: How to Survive in the Wild. This book was a lot thicker than Saints Guide to Making Friends. So James knew he would be reading this book for longer. Before he started to read, after grabbing the book, James stood up to stretch real quick. James felt a lot better from stretching after sitting down for the thirty minutes it took to read Saints Guide to Making Friends. James sat back down and started to read for real this time.
