Chapter 31: The Warlock (Part One)

All tenant farmers, men are organized in groups of ten, women and children and the elderly are organized in groups of thirty, separated, not allowed to speak, violators will be flogged on the spot.

Fang Xin's actions naturally put safety first and try to eliminate hidden dangers as much as possible.

James looked around on horseback, inspecting the 1,400-strong troops. Twenty makeshift ox carts were fully loaded with all sorts of portable items, especially large quantities of grain. Behind them followed sheep and horses, while wounded soldiers lay on top of the carts.

"Hannit Knights, we've checked on horseback and there's no problem for now." James hurried up a few steps and reported to Fang Xin.

"Ah, so be it. I hope the manor can stall for some time." Fang Xin felt the thick fog, the chill of which seeped into his bones. This fog was not a natural phenomenon, but carried a dense and dark aura.

The manor was not burned down, on the one hand, Fang Xin did not do such a wasteful thing, and on the other hand, burning it would only stimulate the enemy to desperately chase after them. Therefore, the manor was only destroyed - the walls were smashed open, and holes were punched in the houses.

Hoping to delay the other party's action, even if it's just one more day.

The warriors surrounding him, each with a face full of murderous intent and reverence, had killed one hundred dark soldiers and a dark knight, seized an estate, and retreated unscathed - such achievements were already quite impressive.

Especially when they know there's a reward inside for themselves.

Long swords and iron armor continued to collide, emitting a crisp sound. The fog was almost like rainwater, and when it fell on the cold iron armor, dew condensed continuously, dripping into the skin.

It's almost noon, and the fog is about to clear up. Fang Xin thought so, closing his eyes and enjoying the gentle breeze on his face. As his field of vision expanded, he could even see the birds in the woods across from him, as well as the sound of water hitting the stones in the small river below.

It's indeed better to be natural. If this world didn't have such evil, and nature could return to its original state, that would be great. This is a medieval world that isn't inferior to our own, without industrial pollution.

But suddenly, Fang Xin felt a sense of discomfort. He looked around restlessly, feeling slightly annoyed. Everything around him seemed normal, the fog had dispersed and the sun was starting to come out.

However, a strange aura was lurking nearby. Fang Xin's intuition told him that this was real, and suddenly, he fixed his gaze on a spot in the thicket, where there was a black dot.

It was a wooden house, and near the wooden house there were small plots of farmland with strange medicinal herbs that could no longer be identified.

Fang Xin quietly controlled the horse, his hand already grasping the hilt of the sword.

Just then, a "huh" sound came from behind, Fang Xin turned his head to look, and saw James staring there with a delighted expression.

"Do you know this strange house?" Fang Xin asked.

"It might just be, maybe it's Isador Haggerty the wizard's house, he was a great wizard who helped us in many battles, let's dismount and walk slowly there!"

"Is that so?" Fang Xin said in a low voice, searching through the original Hanniet's memories. Indeed, this was a great legend, Isado Hargti, the wizard, had helped the Lord's Alliance many times in times of crisis, his powerful magic made the Dark Legion fearful.

Fang Xin reminisced, staring blankly at James: "This is actually the home of Isadore Haggerty the wizard? What a coincidence?"

"This must be it, the war has broken out, so God sent him to our side." James said excitedly, already dismounting his horse: "We should go visit this great wizard, and if we can get him to join us, that would be even better."

"James, apprentice knight!" Fang Xin suddenly shouted, his voice revealing a cold murderous intent: "Don't forget, you are now on military duty."

As soon as this voice came out, James suddenly shivered, like a big bucket of cold water poured down from above. Along the way, he had already seen three soldiers who were killed for disobeying orders.

"And don't forget, our army is advancing now, and if we're delayed because of this, the Dark Soldiers will catch up. You should know what the consequences would be!" Fang Xin's voice grew even colder, unknowingly making James feel an indescribable pressure.

"Yes, Hannit Knight, I was wrong."

"Go back and receive the three lashes, however, your feelings can be understood. Alright, let's have the troops continue on while we go in, but only for a brief moment to pay our respects to this great wizard." Fang Xin revealed a hint of a smile.

The troop continued to advance, Fang Xin dismounted his horse, without removing his armor, only taking off his helmet, and walked forward with his cloak on. When he reached the entrance, Fang Xin also straightened his posture and in a low, yet respectful voice said: "Is this the residence of the great wizard Isado Hargti? I am Hannet Edin, knight of Sir Eli Licoque, it's an honor to meet you!"

There was no sound, and after waiting for a moment, Fang Xin's heart secretly became angry. His jade Ruyi had already clearly sensed that there was someone inside.

He showed no expression, and said: "Is this the home of the great wizard Isador Haggarty? I am Sir Eli Lycoris's knight, Hannet Edin, honored to meet you!"

Just then, a voice came from inside: "Ah, young knight, future hero, I'm glad to meet you too! Come in quickly!"

"It's Isador Hagetti, the warlock!" James exclaimed excitedly.

Fang Xinxin sneered inwardly and saw the wooden door open silently. For some reason, he felt an instinctual hostility towards this so-called wizard in his heart.

The wooden house is actually very large, divided into several rooms. One of them can be considered a hall. As soon as you enter, a warm atmosphere rushes towards you. In the corner, a stove is burning fiercely, which is the source.

"It's wet outside, why don't you come in and warm up by the fire?" said the old man.

"You must be the great wizard Isador Hagtire. I'm honored by your invitation, but I'm on a march right now, so I won't stay long. This time, I mainly came to pay my respects and thank you for your support and help over the past fifty years." Fang Xin said respectfully, bowing slightly in a knight's salute without removing his helmet. At the same time, he carefully sized up Isador Hagtire, whose face was very kind, but Fang Xin noticed that his eyes hid a cold indifference to life.

"Young hero," Isadore Haggerty said, "you should listen carefully to my words. If we cannot quell this war, then we will encounter terrors beyond anything you have ever known."

"In that case, why don't you come with us, then we'll have plenty of time to listen to your teachings slowly." Fang Xing said, unmoved.

At this time, the blazing fire beside him became exceptionally bright.
