"So, Eri, do you have a place to live?" Rei asked. "No, as I said, my village was destroyed, I have no home," Eri responded. Avi walked in front of the two and smiled. "Well, you can live with us! We need all the help we can get finding the next pillar, after all!" She said. "Thank you. Let's head to your home now." Eri said. Avi smiled and scratched her head. "I-it's not my home, we share it! Right, guys?" Avi asked. "Yup," Rei and Keo responded. The party made their way to their abode.
"So, this is it, it's pretty small, but… It's all we have, we can't afford much…" Keo said, opening the door. The interior was the same as it was when they left. "We don't have another bedroom for you, so I'll let you pick where you want to sleep." Keo continued. Eri looked at the run-down couch in the middle of the room. "This looks… fine… I'll sleep there!" Eri said, lying down on the couch. "Wait, Eri, we need to find the next pillar!" Keo said to her. Eri, exhausted from combat, had already fallen asleep. "We should let her rest, let's go find the pillar ourselves, I have an idea on where it could be…" Rei said. "Goodie!" Avi smiled.
Avi, Rei, and Keo returned to the outskirts of Avindors' Wake. They returned to the split of several paths, with signs sealed by magic. However, this time, the gate with a volcano and sand dunes on it was opened. "Pretty self-explanatory, let's go," Rei said, entering the new area. Keo and Avi followed behind.
The pathway this time around was significantly darker than the last one. "Again…? Why does it always have to be so dark!?" Avi whined. She received no response. The three kept moving. They eventually reached an open area again, but instead of a pedestal, there was a lock on some case-like device. "Rei, do you by any chance still have the keystone from the volcano? I have a feeling it may work here. Yes, I know there is a slot for a regular key, I have a hunch." Keo said. "I have it," Rei said.
Rei held the keystone in front of the case. Nothing happened. He pushed it onto the case. Nothing happened. "Ooo! Let me try!" Avi said, snatching the keystone from Rei. "I don't see how this will work…" The keystone levitated in front of Avi, leaving her hands. It emitted a dim golden glow, which Avi had not noticed. The case opened. "Did you see that, Keo?" Rei asked. "Yup," Keo responded. "Say, 'golden light' has appeared near Avi twice now, I'm starting to notice a pattern…" Rei said. "Indeed," Keo responded. Avi paid no attention to them, as she obliviously stared at the newly revealed pedestal.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Rei placed the third Artifact on the pedestal. It visualized a starry night sky with a beach of white sand under it. Shells and strangely shaped plants decorated the environment. Ocean waves gently crashed against the shore. "That's pretty detailed for a visualization…” Rei said. So… how do we get there…?" He continued.
"That image fits the description of the Starlight Tropics, a tropical region to the east. Funnily enough, there should be a path straight from the east exit of town. It's a popular tourist destination, but most of it is closed off due to monster attacks at night. Speaking of night, the tropics are in darkness all day and night, and the sky is a beautiful starry blue." Keo described the Starlight tropics to Rei and Avi.
"Sounds fun! I'm gonna get packing, I'll meet you guys there, make sure to bring Eri along!" Avi ran off. "Ugh… what is she up to now…?" Rei said. "It's fine, we will meet her there," Keo said. Rei and Keo made their way back to their living space. "Say, do you think Avi left already…? It is night time… eh, whatever, I'm sure she'll be fine. Goodnight, Keo." Rei said, heading to Avi's room, which was unoccupied. "Goodnight, Rei," Keo said.
"Rise and shine! We have an adventure to go on!!" A female voice said to Rei. “A-Avi… just five more minutes…” Rei said, muttering, half-asleep. "It's Eri. Avi ran through here last night and woke me. If I remember correctly, she said she was using the clothes she was "given against her will," Eri said. Rei sat up and put a dull expression on his face. "She's going to wear those?" Rei said. "Yeah… why, what happened?" Eri asked. "Long story. Say, why is the dresser knocked over on the floor? I was so tired last night that I overlooked that." Rei asked, noticing a toppled clothes drawer.
"When Avi ran home to grab her clothes, she knocked over her shelf. I heard a series of crashes, each louder than the last, followed by high-pitched squeals…" Eri said, describing Avi's incident to Rei. "Typical," Rei said. Keo entered the room. "Shall we get going…? Keo said to the two. "Yes, Avi is waiting for us…" Rei answered. The three exited their building and took the east path. The sky grew dimmer as they neared the tropics.
