Chapter 12: Spirit Skating

Two days passed with Brandon and Ulysee. The morning comes around again.

The two are seen leaving her apartment with duffle bags in hand. They make it in on a train and are silent in their booth together for the first portion of the ride.

Leaving the scenery out the window alone, Ulysee speaks up, reminding Brandon that according to his coordinates, they have to get on two more trains after this one. Brandon was unfamiliar with the area they were in, so he thought nothing of it.

Ulysee seemed to know enough for the both of them, so all he had to do was sit back and observe the ride to come. Brandon replies that once they get back into familiar territory, he’ll take over.

Ulysee asks him if he’s been to the ritual site before, with Brandon reminding her that the ritual site is where he attended with his mother and father. The final place his father attempted to rescue his mother. Ulysee apologizes.

She states that she forgot. Brandon doesn’t seem to hold this against her, assuring her that it’s ok.

Almost immediately, he asks her how she is holding up. He places his own feelings aside.

Ulysee states that she is a little nervous, though she attempts to play it off with a smile. Brandon sees through this.

Ulysee tells Brandon that she would rather die, than to allow anyone else to die, knowing she could have done something to prevent it. Brandon replies that it is ok to be nervous, though as he has said before, he once again reminds her that he will be there every step of the way. That this isn’t just about the lives of others, but her own life as well, as she is also plagued now. This seems to bring Ulysee to a more visible spirit-broken form.

Her tone drops on top of her crushed spirit. She tells Brandon that she had forgotten this as well, with Brandon repeating himself once again.

He tells her that he won’t let anything happen to her.

The train stops and they switch over to the second one. On the way to the second train, Ulysee gets a jolt of life. She grabs Brandon by the hand and playfully drags him along. Her smile and her light chuckle change the mood once again. Brandon takes a mental note of the strong wielded woman in front of him – who doesn’t allow anything to keep her down for long. Brandon can’t help but smile back at her and follow her.

Her hands were polite to him. Ever so soft to the point that he started to picture other places her hands could guide him to. Other places her hands could direct him to. Once again, he blushes.

Ulysee just so happens to look back again as she drags him, with Brandon quickly looking away. The two continue to playfully run across the semi busy station.

A similar feeling from her continuous touch, begins to erupt. A feeling reflecting to when Brandon’s mana was guiding hers. Ulysee suddenly comes to a stop and Brandon believes that she has felt it too. This wasn’t the place.

The sensitive feelings that they felt before…the way their bodies wanted to move to the arching, yet tingling feeling that was free flowing…this wasn’t the place for any of that.

Ulysee seems to let go just in the nick of time, though she doesn’t seem bothered by anything. Maybe she hadn’t felt a thing this time. Maybe it was something that was unconsciously manifesting within Brandon. He could only hope that this wasn’t the case.

To be so sensitive to her touch was strange, even to him. How could he explain something as complicated as this. He wouldn’t. As the two boarded the second train, he made up his mind right then and there, to keep whatever he was suddenly feeling, to himself.

The second ride saw him being silent once again, the two sitting across from each other as Brandon concentrated strongly on the things that were passing them. Nature itself. Or so it looked that way.

Brandon’s mind sprinted away from him. Running with thoughts that were truly unexplainable. He had never felt that sort of touch – two forms of mana riding against one another. It was as if both their streams of magic energy, were making love. But he did not love her. At least…he felt like he didn’t. He didn’t even know her. So what did any of this mean?

Brandon could see Ulysee touching him all over. He could see both of them standing naked in front of each other.

Her hands smoothly went everywhere, with these same hands taking his and guiding them everywhere. She was beautiful to the touch, even with his eyes closed. Even without his mana tracing. They were spirit skating, as if their physical bodies had truly become a shell in this moment. The sound of Ulysee’s voice snaps him out of this.

She asks if he’s ok – Brandon clears his throat before telling her that he was fine.
