Prologue: The Battle of Gods

  Prologue: The Battle of Gods

Fate, and all that is inevitable. Its overwhelming presence struck primal fear in the air as it lingered with the pungent smell of iron. Blood. Even with such prestigious titles as the God of War, the faces of every deity wore an unmistakable look of despair as their eyes scanned over allied bodies littered on the ground.

“Damn bastard. Such evil incarnation has never had a place in the heavenly realm; nor will it ever.” the God of War contorted. Echoes of accordance bellowed from the audience of gods.

Centered in the bloody clamor, there stood the figure of a young man with waist-long hair. The pieces that weren’t pulled back behind his head floated as strands covering his eyes, like a curtain separating not only his demeanor- but his entire self from the rest of the crowd.

“It matters not whether this realm has a place for me, what is destined to be cannot be avoided. The heavenly realm will, and has always belonged to fate. To me.” The young man spoke, his face lighting up in a mocking smile.

“You.. will pay for the lives taken by your hands tonight. No other fitting punishment than your own death.” Behind his words laid decades of strife, resurfacing as pure anger. The god of war unsheathed a greatsword to his side and erratically lurched forward, aimed towards the heart of Fate.

Unexpectedly, however, the great god was met with no resistance.

“Brainless still… will my death recover the lives of your fallen friends?” The ground between them closed as the blade drove through Fate’s chest. He coughed blood. “Your efforts are in vain… you, too, will come to see that fate is the most supreme thing in this universe. ”

The great god's face was twisted in helpless fury. He retracted the greatsword, leaving behind only a gaping hole. Feverishly he looked up, and the God of War was suddenly struck with the most fear he had felt in centuries.

it was the same mocking smile from before; the one that sent a chill through the spines of every deity.

The God of Fate smiled as he fell from heaven, and as he did, the whole heavenly realm heard his message:

  You cannot run from fate.
