Chapter 61: The Captain

  ♂?,,

"That's one of the villages mentioned in the intelligence report..."

In a distant quiet and uninhabited village, a sturdy black man spoke up.

"Right...". He nodded and went up. A white man with a head of hair spoke to a short, thin yellow-skinned person beside him. "Dallas, go in..."

  "Understand..."

He nodded slightly, and the yellow-skinned youth called Dalles transformed into something like a wild dog and ran quickly into the village.

After about two or three minutes, the white man's wireless radio rang.

"Head, no one inside, but... I hope I can come in for a bit..."

The wireless radio knocked out a few rhythmic beats.

This was a pre-arranged signal within the team, proof that the person sending the signal had not been threatened, so Muller, although somewhat puzzled, still led his troops into the village.

"Hey, Dallas, what's up with us?"

As soon as he entered the village, the sturdy black man shouted loudly.

However, Dallas was solemn-faced and growled in a low voice.

"Shut up, Lu An, speak softly..."

Lu An, who was still talking and didn't care about getting angry, spoke to Miller.

  "Head, come with me..."

Miller and several others followed, though somewhat perplexed.

After years of cooperation, Miller still trusted his vanguard very much, or if he didn't trust his vanguard, they wouldn't have been able to survive for so many years...

But as they followed Dalles to a place called Empty Square, they could hardly believe their eyes...

"Head, I think this commission might be a big trouble..."

The corpses piled high on the empty ground, Dallas said with a hint of fear in his helpless tone...

  "That's right..."

After calming down, Miller also agreed.

"Do you think they were made this way by something?"

Hearing Miller's inquiry, Dallas stepped forward and carefully checked before answering.

"It's probably a beast, a large number of beasts, there are many footprints here, I just can't recognize what kind of footprints they are..."

It's no wonder, probably nobody in this world has ever studied ants' footprints...

"Anyway, let's carefully search around first, see if there are any survivors or anything..."

Although Miller himself knew that the possibility of survivors was slim, he still ordered it.

  "I understand..."

Soon, as Miller's companions dispersed to search, they ultimately found nothing. Hmm, not exactly nothing, at least they discovered some shell-like objects...

  "This is..."

Miller said hesitantly, "It's something like shell fragments that Zed found."

"I'm not sure either, but I also found a few shotgun shell casings nearby, probably left behind by the villagers when they resisted..."

  Nodding.

"Tyler, take pictures of these things and send them back to the association. Then bring these things back first..."

"Sir, don't you need me to stay?"

That yellow youth named Tyler said with some surprise.

  Miller shook his head.

"The next task may be a bit dangerous, just that we hired a guide, no need to take this risk..."

Although it's not clear what's going on, Miller's intuition tells him that this mission won't be so simple. Tyler is just a guide they hired on Bonga Island, and although he has reached D-level due to the need for quick action, he can barely keep up with the team's speed without hindering them. If it comes down to a fight, his presence will likely hinder the entire team...

It seemed that he understood Miller's idea, nodded, and after sending the photos of those shells to the association, Tyler walked out of the village with several fragments of the shells.

But just as Miller was about to say something to his remaining 4 companions, a short and mournful cry came from outside the village...

  "It's Tyler!"

No order was needed; five men had already sprinted out of the village at top speed.

Not long after they left the village, they came to something that couldn't be described, only knowing its appearance was extremely ugly, and it was pulling its hand out of Tyr's body. Beside it were several other strange-looking things.

"I was just here for a routine inspection, but I didn't expect to find something that had been left behind, and it's even a special food... no, no, if the captain finds out, they'll be angry..."

Although it seemed to be somewhat afraid of the so-called Captain's anger, there was not a hint of fear on the soldier ant's face. Moreover, the other several soldier ants even laughed.

"That's right, that's right, since it's like this, why don't we just divide the food and eat it, also to avoid making Team Leader angry..."

But just as the soldier ant was about to tear off Tyr's arm, Miller and his men appeared...

After being startled, several soldier ants became excited.

"Unexpectedly, there were still a few..."

"But this guy isn't here to make a mistake, he's here to seek death..."

The rest of them started discussing it in a disorderly manner, with an air of not putting Muller and the others in their eyes. The guy who just tore off Tyler's sleeve was still continuing his work.

These guys look like they're in a daze, and Tyler looks miserable. Miller's group is visibly shaking with anger. But it's not surprising, really - the strongest teams that have come to hunt them down before were only C-class at best, which is on par with these low-ranking soldier ants. And with Tyler being only D-class, they're naturally looking down on him a lot.

Seeing these monsters still there, joking around as if nothing was wrong, one of them even putting his hand on Tyler's leg, Miller finally couldn't take it anymore.

  "Let's get started!!!"

The sound had barely fallen when five people, including Miller, pounced on him.

Although those soldier ants were just mocking each other, but after they started fighting, their faces all changed.

Because the 'special food' encountered this time is almost equivalent to their level, and some are even stronger than them. Especially Miller, who rushed up first, solved an ant soldier in just a moment...

"Kill them all, don't leave a single one..."

As he threw down the hand-held ants and rushed towards the next target, Miller shouted to his companions.

Seeing the captain so brave, the other capable men also boosted their morale, while the soldier ants became somewhat flustered, especially after Miller helped his companion solve another one...

The whole battle lasted about three minutes, and when the last soldier ant fell, the battle was over.

  "What exactly is this stuff..."

Lu An curiously approached these monsters killed by his own hands.

"Not clear, but it's nothing good, let's gather them first, we'll be back in Jakarta soon..."

Although Miller is just a capable person, the emergence of a nation with language, wisdom and even ethnicity makes it clear to Miller how serious this matter is...

Because it represents humans are no longer the only intelligent species on this planet...

The remaining four people had some thoughts and some didn't, but in any case they all nodded in agreement.

However, just as they were wrapping up the corpses of several soldier ants and preparing to leave the village first, a voice suddenly came from above their heads. When they looked up, a guy who was almost human was floating above their heads. The reason why it's said that he was almost human is because he had something that humans absolutely don't have - wings...

"It's indeed not those fools who can be a match for him..."

A gentle voice slowly fell from the sky...

  "Who is it?"

  Miller asked loudly.

However, the visitor did not respond, but instead flapped its wings and swooped down...

A few minutes later, the newcomer played with Miller's head joyfully.

"If we offer this food to the queen, she will surely give birth to a prince..."
