Chapter 48: Disturbing the Imperial Carriage

The flower artisan glanced at Wang and knelt down on the ground, saying: "Although Wang has shown me kindness, I want to follow the Emperor."

When the florist finished speaking, King Ling's face was full of angry expressions, but Xiurong's smile on his face became even more brilliant.

It was just a chat, but I saw a corner of the Imperial Garden, on the other side of the wall, two kites slowly took off. One was a beautiful butterfly, fluttering in the wind as if it were about to fly away, and the other was a light and agile swallow, with a hint of aquatic elegance.

Perhaps it was because of his good relationship with the florist that Xū Yáng's mood was particularly good, he pointed at the kite and asked: "What place is that?"

The old eunuch who had been attending Xi Yang hastily knelt down and said, "That is the Emerald Bamboo Garden. It was originally a place for watching plays, but later no one went there, so it was abandoned. Now it's probably some of those palace maids who don't know what they're doing, having a playful thought, running in. I didn't manage the servants well, please forgive me, Your Majesty."

Xu Rong heard the words, but only gazed at the fluttering kite, waved his hand and said, "It doesn't matter."

The spring light is still good, and the two flying kites have added a lot of spring flavor to this imperial garden.

Butterflies and swallows fluttered up and down, seemingly chasing each other, neither giving in. Xurong looked up, feeling only that her mood was pleasant. But then she saw the swallow's kite suddenly break its string, the broken kite flying towards the Imperial Garden, falling to the ground.

Xu Rong's eyes dimmed slightly, and a hint of playful smile suddenly rose in his eyes. He stretched out his hand to point, and a small eunuch beside him quickly ran out, picked up the broken kite string, and rushed back.

She turned the jade ring on her hand and said with an uncontrollable joy, "Let's go take a look at the Emerald Bamboo Garden."

At the other end of the courtyard, Chu Lianruo had just put away the scissors that cut off the kite string in her sleeve. Taking advantage of Si Wei's concerned approach, she quietly handed them to her hand. Chu Lianruo's face was slightly frozen, not unexpectedly, and feared that someone was walking over.

Chu Lianruo's kite fell, and Chu Wanruo's face showed a look of impatience. Before she could say anything, a shrill eunuch's voice came from outside the Cui Zhu Garden: "The Emperor has arrived."

Upon hearing this, Chu Wanru's face suddenly showed a look of surprise and delight. She hastily handed the kite string to a nearby palace maid and turned around to welcome him.

Chu Lian's eyes flickered slightly, but her face didn't reveal any particular emotions, and she followed Chu Wan to welcome them.

Before long, a group of people came over, surrounding a man dressed in bright yellow imperial attire. Chu Lian thought to herself that he must have come directly from the morning court session and followed Xū Yáng to the Imperial Garden, without even having time to change out of his court clothes. As she caught sight of the approaching golden boots, her hand, hidden in her sleeve, had already clenched into a fist, her fingernails digging deep into her palm, yet she felt no pain.

As soon as they saw the Emperor approaching, Chu Lianruo and Chu Wanruo hastily knelt down to pay their respects.

Chu Wan's face was filled with joy, although she didn't dare to look up at the emperor, but seeing his tall figure and majestic demeanor, he must be extremely handsome. This ninth-five honor, and yet gave birth to such a good-looking person, is her husband, how could she not be happy?

Xu Rong's footsteps came to a halt, her gaze scanning the two women kneeling before her. The old eunuch by her side caught her drift and hastily shouted: "Which palace are you from? How dare you startle the imperial carriage?"

Chu Wanruo's smile froze on her face, she had thought that since entering the palace, she had not been able to see the emperor, and unexpectedly met him here today. If she could leave an impression on the emperor, then she would have a chance. But unexpectedly, her actions startled the imperial carriage. Chu Wanruo turned pale, unsure of how to explain herself.
