Chapter Five: The Rules of Mercenaries

  "Not bad!"

Qiu Ran, the captain of the team, personally took Gu Xie Chen to complete all the formalities required to join the mercenary group. Gu Xie Chen also got his official codename in the Hell Angel Mercenary Group - Xie Long.

Gu Xie Chen was very satisfied with the accommodation assigned to him. The bedroom had thirty or forty square meters, and all the facilities were complete; outside the bedroom, there was a small living room, and in the corner of the living room, there was even a small bar, which surprised Gu Xie Chen even more, as the bar had hundreds of bottles of fine wine. Each bottle of wine was very high-end, and all of them were free.

When Gu Xiechen was having a physical examination at the medical center, his custom-made uniform had already been hung in the wardrobe of his bedroom. Behind the wardrobe was a secret compartment filled with all sorts of weapons. From large-caliber handguns to assault rifles, from small snake-shaped daggers to heavy two-handed swords, the arsenal in the secret compartment was enough to arm an enhanced squad of soldiers.

According to the manual given by Captain Qiu Rong, Gu Xiechen completed the ownership recognition procedure for his residence. From this moment on, only Gu Xiechen could enter this residence, and all facilities inside, including the weapons in the secret compartment, could only be used by Gu Xiechen. Once an outsider broke in, it would immediately trigger the base's defense system.

Wearing a mercenary card pendant on an alloy chain around his neck, Gu Xié Dùn patted his empty stomach and followed the directions of the personal assistant computer on his wrist to head towards the cafeteria.

The mercenary card is an internal pass card issued by the Hell Angel Mercenary Corps, for use only by the mercenaries themselves. The card records some personal information of the mercenaries and also serves as a savings card that can be used throughout the Earth Federation, with all income earned by the mercenaries being directly deposited into this card. As a congenital fighter, Gu Xiechen joined the Hell Angel Mercenary Corps with a substantial signing fee, 100,000 federal coins are now quietly lying in the account on the card.

The restaurant was vast, capable of accommodating four to five thousand people dining at the same time. When Gu Xiechen walked into the restaurant, it was exactly lunchtime. The huge dining hall was filled with one after another burly men who looked like evil spirits, excitedly waving their knives and forks as they greedily devoured the food in front of them. However, just as Gu Xiechen had entered the restaurant's main door, the previously bustling dining hall suddenly fell silent. Everyone turned their heads to stare at Gu Xiechen with gloomy gazes. 'Clang clang clang', a loud noise rang out, and many burly men simultaneously put down their knives and forks and stood up from their seats.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was eerie, but Gu Xie dust walked straight to the end of the restaurant as if nothing was wrong and greeted a bald man holding a large spoon at the counter.

"What's delicious? Give me one serving!"

Gu Xie dust smiled at the bald-headed big man with a self-righteous smile.

The bald big man stirred the large plate full of fried pork chops in front of him with a large spoon, and shook his head at Gu Xiechen: "I didn't prepare anything for you to eat. You're just a junior officer!"

A burst of thunderous laughter erupted in the restaurant, with countless big men slapping their metal tables and making ear-piercing noises. A black man with a black eye patch on his right eye swung his fist at Gu Xianchen and bellowed: "Punk! This isn't a place for your kind to hang out, get out of here!"

Gu Xie dust stretched out his hand and grabbed a metal plate in front of him, then flipped it over and threw it away.

A black giant, wildly waving his fists and shouting, was hit by a plate thrown by Gu Xie, causing his high nose to sink into his face. Two streams of blood shot up more than two meters as he flew backward. The restaurant erupted in chaos, with seven or eight mercenaries behind the giant knocked to the ground. The hidden force on the plate was like an avalanche, leaving all their joints numb. A group of burly men struggled to get up from the ground for a long time, until their companions finally came to and helped them up.

The restaurant fell silent, the mercenaries' eyes did not dare to look down, and Gu Xie Chen's casual strike was enough to make them understand that this 'little white face' in front of them was not someone they could afford to provoke.

The bald-headed man with the large ladle changed his expression, Gu Xiechen picked up a piece of pork chop and took a bite, he slowly chewed for a while, and asked vaguely: "Who's in charge here?"

A loud and clear voice came from the crowd: "I! Here, I'm in charge!"

The crowd parted to the left and right, a handsome young man wearing a white coarse linen robe walked out slowly, standing in front of Gu Xiechen with his hands behind his back, saying lightly: "This is the exclusive canteen of the third battalion of the Devil Angel Mercenary Corps. I am the commander of the third battalion, so I'm in charge here!"

Gu Xie dust looked at this familiar face and smiled, "Mo He?"

The young man shook his head and said in a low voice: "I am not Moha, I am his elder brother Banruo."

"Mahaka? Prajna?" Gu Xiechen laughed brightly: "Twin brothers?"

  Prajna nodded: "Yes!"

The commander of the Qiu Ran team had just taken Gu Xiechen to visit the Hell Angel Mercenary Corps base, which was deeply buried in the Arctic ice cap, and roughly introduced the 17 main teams under the Hell Angel Mercenary Corps. Each main team has a standard strength of around 5,000 people, and each team leader is a fighter who has broken through the Xiantian level. Moreover, the identity and origin of each team leader are different, and many people have strange powers that are difficult for ordinary people to understand.

"You hurt my brother Moha. If you can hurt Moha when he's at the peak of his power, I won't bother you." Bikujo looked down on Kujaku from a height of nearly two heads, saying calmly: "However, in order to help me break through the thirteen meridian wheels' fate wheel, Moha exhausted all his Zen power two months ago."

Looking up at Ban Ru, Gu Xie dust smiled bitterly and said: "But what does this have to do with me? It's you who are practicing and breaking through, not me who wants him to exhaust his strength!"

Prajna smiled, his body twisted from ankle to neck like a giant python turning over, and a breath that calmed the mind suddenly spread out from his body. A strong gust of wind came head-on, Gu Xiechen's body suddenly heaved backward, and he instinctively tensed up all the muscles in his body just barely stabilizing it.

"Little bird, I'll teach you the most basic rules of being a mercenary. Whoever has the bigger fist is the boss. As long as I can knock you down, if I say you're wrong, then you're wrong!"

No time to waste, his slender hands shot out from behind like a spiritual snake. His thumbs hooked together, middle fingers touched at the tips, and other fingers spread outward like a lotus flower. He shouted in a low voice: "White Lion Lotus Seal, Set!"

As the sound of Pánruò's drink echoed, Gǔ Xié Chén's body was suddenly bound by a mysterious power, as if a great mountain was pressing down on him. The sudden attack left Gǔ Xié Chén momentarily unable to move. Pánruò's White Lion Lotus Seal seemed to be lightly pressed onto Gǔ Xié Chén's chest, and a deafening thunder-like sound came from his chest. A powerful, hard, and unyielding energy like a golden vajra entered Gǔ Xié Chén's body, causing his slender body to fly backwards into the air, like an arrow shot from a bowstring.

A dull thud, Gu Xiechen's body crashed into the wall of the dining hall in a large character shape. A deep, three-inch-long character shape appeared on the alloy plate-patched wall, and Gu Xiechen opened his mouth, feeling a wave of sweetness rising from his heart to his throat, and suddenly a hot air rushed up, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Ahhh!" A surge of energy burst out from Guxiaodun's mind, his back muscles tensed up suddenly, and a powerful aura exploded, blasting a deep hole in the wall of the restaurant. Guxiaodun's body shot towards Banruo, who was standing still on the spot, with a piercing sound. His heart rate skyrocketed to 300 beats per minute, and waves of energy that he couldn't control surged out wildly. Guxiaodun's originally slender body suddenly expanded by a circle.

He smiled with his eyes narrowed, his long golden hair dancing in the windless air. His left hand moved like a wave, and his right fist shot out from his left hand, punching forward. He shouted, "Lotus Treasure Bottle Seal, break!" The air in front of him suddenly became turbulent, and a sharp roar echoed through the air. A hazy white vajra pestle about a foot long burst out of his fist, carrying with it concentric circles of spreading white ripples that hurtled towards Gu Xuan Dust.

Gu Xie dust double claws grasped down from afar, dozens of white-colored seals vigorously suspended in mid-air and fell before that small Vajra pestle, weaving a large net.

A massive collision of Chi and unknown energy occurred, causing Gu Xie Chen's heart to wildly palpitate several times before he spat out another mouthful of blood.

Always looking like a cloud drifting lightly with a faint smile, Banruo's face suddenly changed. He felt an overwhelming and terrifying pressure falling from above, sharp and unmatched air currents entwining his body as if to tear him apart. Banruo let out a dull hum, the crisp sound of tearing fabric accompanied by his coarse white robe being ripped into shreds by invisible claws. Bare-bodied, he stumbled backward in retreat, each step sinking three inches deep into the alloy-plated ground.

Claws and Vajra collided and disappeared, and the reverse shock force blasted upwards seven or eight meters high. Gu Xie Dust's feet heavily stomped on the ceiling of the restaurant, with a powerful force bursting from his toes. His combat boots shattered into powder, and his figure suddenly vanished from the sight of the surrounding mercenaries. Accelerating to an extent that was imperceptible to the naked eye, Gu Xie Dust swung his right elbow through the air, slamming it towards Banruo's Tian Ling Gai.

He was beaten into a mess, stumbling backward in disorder, when his instincts suddenly sensed the mortal danger that was approaching. He abruptly lifted his head, and two blue lights flashed momentarily in his dark eyes. A sudden gust of wind arose, and the air around him rapidly converged to form three layers of thick, milky white air shields between Ban Rou and Gu Xie Chen.

With a mighty swing of his right elbow, Gu Xie Chen shattered the triple-layered air barrier into dust.

It was as if three thermobaric bombs exploded in the restaurant, shattering the triple-layered air shield and sending massive shockwaves raging in all directions. Hundreds of mercenaries screamed and covered their ears, blown away like scraps of paper in a hurricane. The restaurant was filled with countless powerful bodies flying through the air, along with thousands of plates of soup, steak, pork chops, chicken legs, lamb legs, knives, and forks, sending everything into chaos.

His right elbow came crashing down with a terrifying roar, about to smash onto Banruo's head.

Prajna's long arm rose in time, and the blue light condensed into two faintly rotating Buddhist mantra seals in his eyes. His body was covered with a layer of finger-thick, eerie blue light. A roar from Prajna's lungs sent thousands of mercenaries in the dining hall covering their ears and falling to the ground wailing.

"Still, Ming Wang Yin!" Bore wrathfully, his hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders simultaneously appeared a small whirlpool-like blue glow, Gu Xie Chen's right elbow heavily smashed onto his hand.

Two equally powerful forces collided violently, and a loud roar was heard. The dust on Gu Xuan's body, as well as the white robe-like afterimage behind him, shattered into countless fragments that scattered in all directions.

The dust was blown away for tens of meters high, and he was thrown back more than a hundred meters away, with another mouthful of blood spewing out of his mouth.

Blood gushed out of Prajna's seven orifices simultaneously, and he struggled to lift his hands. The blue glow on his wrists, elbows, and shoulders had dimmed. The alloy floor in the dining hall was torn apart like a pack of wolves had ravaged it, and the thick ice layer beneath the alloy plates had cracked open with countless fissures as wide as a palm.

Guxia Chen turned his body in mid-air, barely avoiding the embarrassment of landing head-first. He stumbled forward a couple of steps and gazed at Banruo's seven orifices bleeding with a strange smile: "You're more seriously injured than I am!"

For a long time, he didn't make a sound. The blue characters in his eyes were swirling wildly, and it wasn't until much later that the nearly collapsing characters slowly solidified and converged into the depths of his pupils.

He dryly laughed and a large amount of blood spurted out from Banruo's mouth. He stretched out his hand to wipe the blood off his chin, and bitterly smiled: "Your cultivation is clearly not as high as mine, so why am I more heavily injured than you?"

Gu Xie dust did not answer Ban Ruo's question, instead he asked: "Now, whose fist is bigger?"

Prajna shook his head and pointed at Gu Xiechen, laughing: "Your fist is bigger than mine, so you're right, Moha deserved to be beaten!"

He coughed a few times, blinked his eyes slyly, and slowly straightened up, extending his right palm towards Gu Xuan: "The rules of mercenaries, if you can't beat him, it's best to make him your teammate. A powerful teammate is only beneficial to the entire team!"

He spat out a mouthful of thick blood and said frankly, "It's fate that we met. You chose to dine at the third battalion's cafeteria, which means you have fate with us! You've just joined the Hell Angel Mercenary Corps, but Uncle Whiskers hasn't assigned your destination yet, right? Welcome to the third battalion!"

Gu Xie dust looked at Ban Ruo, Ban Ruo's eyes were clear and pure without any impurities.

Mohe walked into the chaotic restaurant from the entrance, shouting loudly: "Little white face, you beat me up badly, joining my brother's gang is considered compensation, how about it?"

To enhance the persuasiveness of his words, Mahaka vigorously waved his right arm, which was tightly bandaged. Mahaka's passion was like fire, without a single impurity.

The two brothers, the elder brother Chen Cheng is like a clear spring, while the younger brother Chen Zheng is like raging fire, yet they are a perfect match.

"Alright! I'll join the third squad!" Gu Xiechen stretched out his hand as usual: "However, what about my treatment?"

Prajna's blood-soaked hand grasped Gu Xiechen's palm, and he panted with a smile: "High treatment, but won't let you bring people. Your strength is strong, but I really want to say, you are indeed a rookie. This is also the rule of our mercenaries, absolutely not allowing a new rookie to be the captain, otherwise, there will definitely be deaths soon."

Just as they were laughing, a light screen lit up above the restaurant, and the curly-haired captain roared inside: "Banruo, you troublemaker, get over here, I have business with you!"

The color of Prajna's face changed suddenly, and he turned around and ran out of the restaurant.

Mohe grasped the hand of Gu Xiechen, who had not yet withdrawn it, and smiled: "There's another rule, we're mercenaries who make a living by selling our lives, so when there's business to be done, we must speed up, otherwise someone will snatch it away!"

Gu Xie dust used force to pat Mo Hai's arm, Mo Hai burst out laughing and friendly returned a few pats.

The mercenaries who suffered a fiasco in the restaurant got up from the ground, shaking their heads. Although they had been through a lot of hardships, their eyes looking at Gu Xie Chen were already filled with respect.

The most fundamental rule of the mercenary world - you can only mix in if you have real power.

This is also the rule of this world.
