Tyra stood in the surveillance camera room, her emotions a whirlwind of confusion and sadness. Her life's work had been tampered with, turned into some kind of mockery. Someone had manipulated her computer, her data, and possibly much more, for reasons she couldn’t begin to fathom.
As she replayed the footage, the figure on the screen intrigued her. They moved with precision, dressed not as a civilian but in official attire. They entered the facility, made changes to her computer, and left without hesitation. There was no wasted motion, no sign of confusion. Whoever this person was, they knew exactly what they were doing.
Tyra leaned back in her chair, her mind spinning with possibilities. Could it have been an inside job? A rogue employee? Or was this an outsider with knowledge far beyond what should have been possible? Her thoughts trailed off into uncertainty.
Deciding she couldn’t solve this mystery alone, Tyra powered down the computers and exited the surveillance room. The corridor outside was dimly lit, the hum of the facility’s systems filling the silence. She needed answers, and the first step would be sharing her findings with Gustavo. Perhaps together, they could piece things together.
As she walked, her mind wandered to Cryo Corp and Necro Corp. Both companies had been major players in the industry years ago, but now they were nothing more than memories. Their downfall had been swift, tied to corruption scandals that rocked the region. Yet, their shadows still lingered in her thoughts. There was something about this situation that echoed those old stories.
Pulling out her MagmaPhone, she opened the WizardMarket app and glanced at the latest news. Magma Corporation’s stocks had taken a hit after the caravan attack, though they were now recovering. Still, the theft of two boxes by the snowman and skeleton weighed heavily on her. She clenched her fists. Those thieves wouldn’t get away with this.
A Sudden Collision
Distracted by her thoughts, Tyra didn’t notice Gustavo until she collided with him. He stumbled back but quickly helped her up, offering a sheepish smile.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Tyra. I didn’t see you,” Gustavo said, brushing himself off. “Your IC is fixed now. I changed the username back to your normal one.”
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Thanks,” Tyra replied, still flustered. “And sorry—I wasn’t looking either. "I was checking my Market accounts"
Gustavo asked "Oh you are investor? I thought you are Military soldier tree...."
Tyra answered "And can a soldier not be Investor?"
Gustavo answered "No, Of course can a soldier be a investor but you know is rare there a soldier be one, The majority who chose the Military tree is because not understand very well of bureaucracy works"
Gustavo clearly forgetting at this point about how he asked her about checking cameras asked "And you are here for?"
“The Cameras” Tyra replied, still flustered. “You send me to check them out— and I checked the cameras I found very interesting footage!!!"
Gustavo’s expression shifted as Tyra explained the footage. She recounted the strange figure, their covered face, and their deliberate actions.
“That’s... unsettling,” Gustavo admitted, his brow furrowed. “We should notify the bureaucrats about the intrusion. They’ll need to authorize a sweep of the area.”
He moved to his terminal to send a message, only to curse under his breath. “Grimomas,” he muttered. “They won’t check this until tomorrow.” With a resigned sigh, he hit send, knowing it would go unread until morning.
“Bureaucracy is always a headache, especially during Grimomas,” he said, shaking his head.
Tyra nodded in agreement, recalling the agonizing month she had once spent waiting for new combat armor.
With the immediate problem out of their hands, Tyra decided to change the subject. “Hey, Gustavo, quick question. How much information about dogs does the Codex hold?”
“Dogs?” Gustavo asked, raising an eyebrow. “Over five million entries, give or take. Why?”
Tyra blinked. “Five million? That’s ridiculous!”
“Well, people like dogs,” Gustavo said with a shrug. “There’s a lot of data about breeds, training, behavior... You name it, we’ve got it.”
Tyra hesitated, debating whether to explain her interest. “I... had a dream about a dog. It felt weird, like it was connected to something important.”
“A nightmare?” Gustavo asked. “Dreams can be strange, especially when you’re stressed.”
“Maybe,” Tyra said, though she wasn’t convinced. The dream had been vivid, almost too real to dismiss as a mere figment of her imagination. But without more to go on, it was just another unanswered question.
Closing the Day
“I think that’s all for now,” Tyra said, stepping back. “I’ll dig into this more tomorrow.” she says while thinking that she should bring up this subject of the dog when she can get more concrete information not only that it wasn't a dream but the exact appearance of the dog otherwise, she will have to search through more than 5,000,000 and she clearly doesn't want to do that.
“Sounds good,” Gustavo replied with a nod. “Take it easy—and enjoy Grimomas if you can.”
“I’ll try,” Tyra said with a small smile as she turned to leave. Her steps echoed down the hall, her mind still racing with thoughts of the intruder, the dream, and the mysteries that seemed to grow by the hour.
As she stepped outside into the cool night air, she made a silent promise to herself: she would uncover the truth, no matter what it took.
