  Took me out, made me oh so happy.

  I didn't care you wouldn't let me leave.

  So happy I walked, straying ever so further.

  Cry and scream you'd still threaten to slap me.

  Lacking happiness, ground down like leaves.

  Collars tightened, the pain growing sharper.

  For some lashes, no longer leashed.

  Yet I stayed, straying further and further.

  One day the pain stopped, lacked a tautness.

  Run free I did, into your waiting arms again.

  The collar was tighter.

  The leash was thicker.

  The arm was stronger.

  And we began again.
