Chapter Thirty-One: Speeding Up Progress

  Inside the chaotic region.

Shengdian Group's No. 4 Secret Laboratory.

Ahead is an experimental cabin isolated by special glass.

A test subject wearing a straitjacket is escorted into it by mercenaries with loaded guns.

Dr. Z's eyes gleamed with a mad expectation as he gazed at the experimental subject in the lab chamber.

As one of the leading figures in the Shengdian Group, the research project he was in charge of had never made any significant progress.

In the decision-making level, one's own voice is becoming increasingly weak.

Dr. Z is eager for research to make a major breakthrough so that he can reap more benefits from the Sheng Dian Group.

"Subject Z919, variant biochemical virus injection complete, experiment is about to begin."

By his side, an assistant holding a file was reporting to Dr. Z.

"I hope this time will be successful..."

Surrounding the laboratory, in large and small stasis chambers, were imprisoned bizarrely shaped mutants.

They were all products of failed experiments.

Among them, a three-meter-high hibernation chamber filled with blue biochemical liquid was stared at by Dr. Z for a long time.

This is his closest experiment to success so far.

  A new experiment has begun.

The test subject injected with the variant biochemical virus underwent mutation.

Muscles bulged out in large quantities, extending from the surface of the body were azure sharp thorns, which tore the straitjacket to shreds.

Fangs grew rapidly, skin was dyed deep blue by the variant virus, and faintly, there seemed to be a weak current flowing through the experimental body.

  Outside the experimental cabin.

The data on the screen continued to climb.

The researcher in charge of observation exclaimed: "The Yin energy index is increasing wildly and has already reached 70%!"

The mutated test subjects let out anguished wails.

Mutant biochemical viruses are constantly proliferating and evolving within him, he is like a balloon that is inflated to the point of bursting at any moment by mutant viruses.

Dr. Z was calm and composed.

Ignoring the test subject's pitiful expression, the researcher in charge ordered: "Inject 0.8 milliliters of liquid Kyrium with thunder properties."

  "Yes."

  The researcher immediately took action.

A bottle cap-sized hole opened at the top of the experimental cabin, and a dart flew out of the hole and pierced under the skin of the experimental body.

Pale blue lightning attribute liquid potassium was pushed into the experimental body.

But it triggered an even more intense reaction.

The Raikou and experimental body's internal You energy repel each other, with some of the You energy being quickly eliminated by Raikou.

But the remaining etheric energy began to replicate more rapidly under the catalysis of micro-quantities of gold.

A large number of biochemical viruses are produced in the experimental body, and they absorb a lot of energy.

Under the drive of these variant viruses, the experimental body gradually condensed a thick current in front of its body and violently struck the special glass of the experimental cabin.

The power of electricity is very strong.

Even special glass that can withstand tank shells without a scratch was shattered with spider web-like cracks.

However, the experimental body that launched the attack was drained of its last bit of energy.

His originally robust and sturdy body had become withered and emaciated, his bones protruding starkly, like a lifeless corpse.

  The experiment failed again.

The smile that had just floated up froze in an instant.

Dr. Z's eyes were even more sinister at this time, and his white hair stood up from his scalp.

  He was flustered and discomfited.

He grasped his assistant's collar and let out a furious roar:

  "Why! Why did it fail!"

"No way, experiment continues, next test subject is ready!"

A researcher next to him said in a low voice:

"Uh... Dr. Z, we've run out of test subjects..."

"None? Weren't there dozens of vagrants who were deceived and brought here? How can there be none? Believe me, I'll make you a test subject!"

Fierce eyes locked onto the researcher, and Dr. Z indeed harbored murderous intentions.

Just then, the laboratory door opened.

A man wearing a red coat with an evil face walked in.

"Isn't it? I just finished testing and you guys made such a big fuss?"

Looking at Dr. Z's eccentricity, the man said with a strange tone.

"Lie Feng, don't forget who gave you your current power!"

Dr. Z was not to be intimidated and threatened.

Lie Feng sneered at Dr. Z's words.

He immediately spoke up: "The Terminator's research has not yet made a breakthrough, but the Defender has already destroyed several of our strongholds."

"This doesn't need your concern, I have my own plan."

Dr. Z continued: "By the way, didn't you have a relationship with that Knife Edge? Why don't you go 'visit' him?"

At the mention of the word "Blade", Lie Feng's eyes flashed with a strong murderous intent.

But it subsided in the blink of an eye.

"Never mind, it's still a bit too early."

He waved his hand impatiently and said:

"I came over this time just to tell Dr. Z that, because your 'Terminator Project' has not made any progress, the others at Shengdian Group have decided to speed up the pace of the plan."

"And after the election, the first person to take action is you, Dr. Z."

After finishing speaking, Lie Feng left a profound gaze for Dr. Z.

Dr. Z's face was overcast with varying weather.

After hesitating for a long time, he finally replied:

"Got it, I'll carry out as planned."

With a look of satisfaction, he played with a peculiarly-shaped Nepalese dagger in his hand.

  "That's right."

Liefeng said to Dr. Z in a low and mysterious tone: "Don't worry, at the critical moment I will still lend you a hand."

  "After all, we're still allies..."

Then, with a swing of his red coat, Lie Feng turned and left the laboratory.

After Liefeng left, a researcher asked cautiously: "Dr. Z, what about our project..."

"The project will continue, but it must be done in secret and those old fools must not find out!"

Clutching his fist in frustration, Dr. Z said to his subordinates: "Also, release another batch of recruitment ads and capture a group of unemployed vagrants, I have use for them."

  "Yes!"

His subordinates immediately began making arrangements.

  A few days later.

In several more desolate cities in the chaotic region.

Help-wanted ads promising good treatment are posted deep in alleys where few people pass.

Dozens or even hundreds of vagrants who signed up were secretly transported to Laboratory No. 4, where they awaited unimaginable torture.

  Human experimentation.

This kind of thing is nothing new for people in Shengdian Group.

In Dr. Z's research, out of over a hundred vagrants, only about one-third were infected and transformed into Variants, barely surviving.

However, the disaster for these "survivors" has yet to end.

In order to speed up the progress of the plan.

Dr. Z injected large quantities of deactivated biochemical viruses into the bodies of these variants and other experimental subjects, preparing to secretly release them into chaotic areas.

Conduct large-scale biochemical virus infection experiments.
