Ross's expressionless response. "You sent them back, which means this imperfect gift has been abandoned and they have lost their value."
So there will be no problem with the takeover by the Holy See.
Cynthia sighed and turned her gaze to Daniel, the only one still alive beside her.
He was completely naked, and his appearance looked particularly bad. His skin had peeled off in large quantities, with a light yellow liquid oozing out, and his dry lips had cracked into many white scales.
This punishment is already severe enough for him, Cynthia didn't want it to go as far as taking lives, her original intention was just hoping he would respect people, the meddling Church really has no bounds.
She turned to Ross, her voice firm, "The punishment for him is enough, I won't do any more execution, you now only have one thing to do, that is to put him down and throw him onto the street."
Rose locked eyes with her for a while, making sure she wouldn't do anything that would meet his expectations, before reluctantly saying, "Of course, if you're willing, let this be his punishment."
He waved his hand and several people in cloaks quickly went down to bring down the already shocked Daniel, throwing him onto the street outside the iron fence.
As she stepped back into the church, Cynthia lowered her voice and said to Rose's back, "Joe, help me get Daniel into the car, don't let him die."
Reentering the dimly lit church illuminated only by candles, Cynthia immediately spoke up, "The execution has ended, I'm going back."
She was ready to walk straight to the other door and leave through the alley, but that door was tightly closed at this moment.
"Miss Cynthia, come sit by me and let's have a chat, shall we?" Ross's voice was clear and calm.
He just used Daniel as an excuse to see her alone.
Cynthia came back to her senses and turned around, watching him take off his top hat and sit down on the long chair. She knew that if they didn't talk, she might not be able to leave through this door.
"What did you want to say to me alone?" She walked back and sat down on the rear seat.
"About my father, Kyrios." He spoke the name with a devout expression, then his face contorted in anguish. "But he never appears to me, nor does he answer my prayers."
"Alright Bishop Ross, I need to correct you - Caius is not your father." Cynthia grew a bit impatient as he brought this up, "And please, just get to the point already."
"It was he who created me! And then ruthlessly abandoned me!" Ross suddenly turned his head to the side, his face twisted in an instant, as if it wasn't his father's words that had struck a sore spot.
Cynthia also found herself a little blind at this meeting.
He is nothing like Kayus.
Caius always made extreme expressions, but he was forever a high-noble disdainful pose, never ugly.
"I wish I could be his servant forever, but he never notices me." Ross's voice fell low, with a paranoid madness, and a pair of red eyes stared at her, still hiding a hint of jealousy.
Want to be a fallen angel?
Cynthia frowned, he wouldn't think that drinking Kael's blood would allow him to grow wings and become his servant, would he?
Half-demons and fallen angels are fundamentally different and cannot be mentioned in the same breath.
"So?" Cynthia asked calmly.
"Do you want eternal life?" Ross's tone suddenly softened, with a hint of temptation. "Help me out with a little favor, and we'll be immortal together."
Are they becoming genderless together? Is he intentionally harming her?
Cynthia didn't expose him on the spot, but instead asked: "What does that mean?"
"A drop of blood, just a drop of blood, a drop of your father's blood can stop the fleeting passage of time for you." Ross repeated like a madman, his lips moving quickly, "How sacred! I am so eager!"
The more Cynthia looked at him, the more she felt he was a madman.
She stood up, feigning curiosity and leaned in close to Ross, her fingers touching his black hair, "Ross, you're a cardinal after all, can't just talk nonsense, you've got white hair already."
Her one sentence interrupted all of Ross's muttering.
The atmosphere inside the church suddenly turned icy cold.
Cynthia didn't care about his facial stiffness, and she seemed to not believe him either. "Your secret to longevity is hiding something from me, this isn't immortality, compared to the last time we met, you've aged a lot."
In fact, she didn't see the white hair or the wrinkles on Ross's face. She had only heard from Kaylus that once a half-demon was over 200 years old, they would accelerate their aging process. She was intentionally provoking Ross.
This talk of accelerated aging is actually more inclined towards a pause in time that has come back.
Time is flowing normally again.
She opened the closed channel door this time and looked back at the position where Ross had just sat, only to find that he was gone.
Estimated to be scared back to look in the mirror directly.
Cynthia walked back from the alley with a disdainful look in her eyes, and no one dared to stop her. She walked out of the Bell Tower smoothly.
Qiao's carriage is waiting at the gate.
"Has Daniel been brought back?" Cynthia walked over and asked.
Qiao nodded slightly, puzzled, "What did you bring him back for?"
"Although he verbally provoked me, it's not a capital offense." Cynthia opened the carriage door and saw Daniel lying on the footpad inside. She sat down beside him, "Let's go to the apothecary again."
Joe carried Daniel down from the carriage and threw him into a pharmacy in the city, and paid for his medical expenses in Cynthia's name.
Their lives were saved, and Cynthia asked Joe a question, "The Cardinal is half-demon, what about the Dark Pope? I went to the Vatican's grand cathedral today, and it felt like everyone was listening to Ross's words."
Joe thought about this for a moment, "The position of Cardinal is only under the Pope, with the right to elect the Pope, Ross has been in this position for 200 years, and almost everyone inside has been replaced by him, Lord Karius doesn't even bother to manage it."
Cynthia was stunned, so the Pope and the transmitter were no different, all decision-making power was in Ross's hands, no wonder she couldn't see the Pope even when it came to execution.
"What did he say to you?" Joe asked.
Cynthia didn't mince words. "He thinks I don't know he's half-demon, and wants me to get my hands on Kaylus' blood."
She became a little unhappy when she mentioned this, "I don't even want him to get hurt, how can I still go and hurt him."
Qiao patted her hair and sneered coldly, "Don't mind him, he'll pay the price for his foolish actions."
Cynthia then put this matter behind her mind, coming out for a trip, she naturally couldn't go back empty-handed.
