Wearing a high-end tailored red shirt under the backlight, with a brown animal fur coat outside, stood half a meter behind her.
"Lord Lays." The girl in front of Cynthia hastily greeted Lays and ran away without looking back.
It was just noon and the weather was exceptionally hot, but Lycoris, who wore thick fur as if only for show, brought nothing but icy coldness to Cynthia.
That night's brutal massacre involuntarily floated before her eyes again, and her face suddenly turned pale.
"Why..."
"Afraid of sunlight?" Lais's honey-colored long hair was combed to perfection, sticking close to her scalp and spreading down her back. Her overly pale face had lips that were as red as blood, slightly curved upwards in an arc. "Poor thing, I'm not one of those trashy vampires who fear this sort of thing."
The closer he got, the more that icy breath of death crawled up Cynthia's spine.
She crouched stiffly on the ground, watching as this terrifying vampire came around in front of her.
Although there were people passing by, no one was kind enough to stop and stay with her but instead ran past very quickly.
"What do you want to do? You know you can't eat me here."
"Of course, I just smelled a special fragrance, so I came over to take a look." Lays bent down, his nose as cold and hard as stone sniffed the scent on her body, the rose-colored iris reflected Cynthia's defensive expression.
"It seems the rumors were false." Lays whispered in her ear, his voice barely audible to anyone else, "You're still intact, full of fragrance, so sweet, that Kaelos guy didn't have the heart to devour you."
He stood right in front of me without breathing, and his chest didn't even have a slight fluctuation, showing an air of carelessness as if he was playing with his prey.
Cynthia couldn't understand why he still had such a great interest in her when the effect of the Blood Tonic had already worn off.
She struggled to calm herself down and replied coldly, "What's it to you? I still belong to Mr. Kayrus."
"It won't be long now." Lais's hand emerged from the large fur coat, gently stroking her face, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "For good and precious food, I always have plenty of patience."
"Immortality is a gift to you."
"Mercy? As long as Kyrios hasn't abandoned me, you'll never have the right to say that word to me."
Cynthia glared at the man in front of her, raised her hand and slapped him in the face without hesitation, so fast that even Lais couldn't react.
This slap probably felt like slapping her hand hard on a large, hard and edgeless marble slab. The pain was so intense that Cynthia almost cried out, clutching her wrist and thinking it was probably fractured.
Lais' eyes were almost overflowing with murderous intent, he gritted his sharp teeth and raised a gentlemanly smile filled with restrained anger, "You will pay the price, Cynthia."
"I'll dig out your heart and throw it into the stinky ditch to feed the fish." Cynthia responded viciously, without any retreat.
She stood up from the ground and took two steps back, moving her painful hand which had already started to redden on the palm.
With Kaylus as a threat, Cynthia didn't even glance at Lays and quickly ran out of the alley.
He would appear on Kirby Street during the day, which was absolutely unthinkable for her.
She thought all vampires would be afraid of sunlight, but unexpectedly, the high-level beings in this group are not afraid of sunlight, it's really unexpected and hateful to the extreme!
It seems that even in daytime, it's not absolutely safe anymore.
Regretting why she came here, Cynthia no longer had the thought of shopping for some expensive spices to take back home. She rushed straight towards the bridge, wanting to leave this place immediately!
In her haste, she didn't notice the road ahead and collided head-on with a fairy who had turned out from a small path beside her.
Her head bumped into his opponent's smooth arm, fortunately the other party pulled her arm and brought her back.
"Ah, I'm so sorry." Cynthia apologized, holding up her injured palm.
His gaze fell upon a stunning beauty with green hair and eyes, as well as pointed ears, and he was momentarily taken aback.
A stunningly beautiful but melancholic fairy.
"Are you okay?" The other person's voice was as soft and warm as a feather, filled with concern and kindness.
"It's okay, I'm really sorry for bumping into you." Cynthia replied immediately, probably the first gentle woman she had met since coming here.
She brought out a hint of an apologetic smile and took a step back to let the other person go first.
The female elf was very tall, at least half a head taller than Cynthia.
She stopped and didn't leave smoothly, but instead made a self-introduction to Cynthia.
"My name is Mei."
"Cynthia." Cynthia was taken aback by her initiative in striking up a conversation, but responded politely nonetheless.
"I heard you're Lord Caylus's daughter."
Cynthia looked at her in a daze, wondering why she suddenly brought up this topic of public knowledge.
That's right.
"Can you take me to see him?"
Mei's request put Cynthia on guard, "Sorry, I don't have the right to let him agree with you."
Plum's face was increasingly anxious, she pulled over Cynthia's wrist, regardless of her painful cry, and forcibly dragged her to a deserted alley.
Mei pinned her against the wall, saying seriously: "Listen, Cynthia, this is important. I have to see the lord, but I can't even get close to his castle."
The seemingly delicate and beautiful elf's strength was astonishing as she pinned her against the wall, her wrists aching so much that she was almost sweating.
"I have no way! Only he comes to see me, how can I know his whereabouts and take you to see him."
She didn't lie, and Mei found out soon enough.
"Alright then." She pulled over Cynthia's hand and a green, miniature vine-shaped totem was branded onto her wrist.
Immediately after, Mei whispered to her: "The land where the Elves live has reappeared with the footprints of the Giants, the King is injured and missing, we need the help of the Dark God."
"If you tell this to anyone other than Lord Caius, you will face my curse."
Cynthia was forced to accept this top-secret matter, her face filled with anger, "Are you guys crazy?! I'm just a sleeping companion! Going out for a stroll and cursing me!"
She's really about to be driven mad by this one disaster after another and is thinking of killing herself on the spot, who knows if she can still make it back.
"Sorry, but I've had enough." Mei sincerely apologized to Cynthia and even kindly put her dislocated wrist back in place.
