Chapter 140: The Mysterious Letter (10)

Qin Zhi'ai was taken aback by Gu Yu Sheng's sudden hug, and then a series of panicked screams rang in her ears.

She was just about to lift her head and look around to see what had happened when Gu Yu Sheng, who was holding her, suddenly pulled her back several steps towards the side of the road.

Gu Yu Sheng's movements were swift, Qin Zhi Ai couldn't keep up with the rhythm at all. When he stopped, she still plunged into his arms due to inertia, and then she heard the sound of a car whizzing by from not far away.

Qin Zhi Ai furrowed her brow, grabbed Gu Yu Sheng's arm and quickly stabilized her body. Then she raised her head to see a car speeding towards them from the front at an extremely fast speed.

The car didn't care about the pedestrians, driving recklessly and causing chaos on the entire pedestrian street. The crowd that had been walking in an orderly fashion just moments before was now in disarray, with people running wildly in all directions as if for their lives. Some who reacted too slowly were hit by the car and sent flying, crashing to the ground with blood gushing out.

Qin Zhi'ai and Gu Yu Sheng walked to a place, where there was a flight of stairs. The car drove up to the stairs, but couldn't drive up, so it had to stop reluctantly.

The car hadn't even extinguished the fire, and the people inside had already jumped out. There were three of them. They didn't even close the car door, and they rushed towards the stairs in a mad dash. When they ran halfway, I don't know what they saw, but suddenly they turned around and rushed back down the stairs.

When they ran back to the car, several police officers came from the direction of the car. The three people looked at each other and then looked around before suddenly choosing different directions to run in.

Accompanied by the intermittent screams, the three people returned to the car again, and each of them had an additional hostage. The hostages' throats were pressed against shiny knives.

Two young women, a boy of about five or six years old, the boy was scared to tears, wailing and crying, his mother, on the side, constantly begging for mercy from the three people.

At this time, several police officers also rushed down from the stairs. The police officers who were chasing from both front and back surrounded the three people, but none of them dared to move forward, fearing that the three would lose their temper and harm the hostages.

Before long, more police officers arrived on the scene. The three thugs looked at each other and one of them suddenly tore open his clothes, revealing a circle of explosives strapped to his waist.

At the sight of explosives, the crowd around became even more panicked, and the police also dared not to act rashly.

Two of the police officers, presumably the captain and deputy captain, whispered to each other for a couple of sentences. One of them went to negotiate with the three thugs, while the other led some people to disperse the crowd and set up a cordon on the pedestrian street.

The leading policeman, who had been directing all along, suddenly saw Gu Yu Sheng and was taken aback for a moment. He then jogged over, shouting "Captain Gu" from behind the yellow tape.
