Chapter 70: A Dream of Eight Years, All for His Sake (10)

But she stood in front of him, without asking a word, he turned his head calmly to the man beside him and asked, "Who is she?"

Qin Zhi Ai was stunned, and the words on her lips instantly disappeared without a sound.

The man standing next to Gu Yu looked at her suspiciously, sizing her up with a glance, then shook his head and replied to Gu Yu's question: "Don't know."

Gu Yu nodded slightly, didn't say anything else, and instead put the cigarette he was holding between his fingers to his mouth, took two calm puffs, then extinguished the butt and threw it into the trash can. He turned to the man beside him and said, "Let's go, we're going in."

Then he calmly and unhurriedly walked past her side.

When his figure completely disappeared from Qin Zhi's corner of her eye, she still couldn't control herself, suddenly turned around, and shouted his name at his shadow: "Gu Yu Sheng."

Gu Yu Sheng and his friend stopped in their tracks, he slowly turned around, as if he had never seen her before, his gaze calm and indifferent.

He just stared at her without speaking, his gaze as if looking at a stranger, making her use great effort to squeeze out a sentence: "Gu Yu Sheng, do... don't you remember me?"

He stared at her for a while, as if trying to think hard about whether he knew her. After about a minute, he spoke up in a polite yet distant tone: "Sorry, miss, I really don't know you."

After finishing speaking, he bowed his head apologetically and turned around to leave without any hesitation.

His friend seemed curious, staring at her for a couple of seconds before following Gu Yu Sheng: "You really don't recognize her?"

"I don't remember knowing him." Gu Yusheng replied.

"Right, you're relying on this face of yours, often attracting bees and butterflies, no wonder she's hitting on you again."

"Perhaps." His voice was as gentle and elegant as ever, but the three words he spoke almost made Qin Zhi Ai's eyes redden.

Maybe... He took her previous question as a pickup line?

Six years... The man she had been searching for, remembering and thinking about for six years didn't remember her.

The person she had been waiting for all along had already forgotten her.

Qin Zhi's whole body felt numb, as if her blood had congealed, and she was devoid of any sensation. The only sound in her ears was the faint music drifting from the distant evening party: "My world is changing little by little for you, but you haven't noticed; all my efforts are invisible to you."

  ……

Qin Zhi'ai, lost in thought, didn't come back to herself for a long time. The housekeeper stretched out his hand and waved it twice in front of her eyes: "Miss, miss?"

Qin Zhi'ai rolled her eyes, suppressing the sour heat in her eye sockets, and gave the housekeeper a shallow smile.

"Miss, would you like some more food?"

"No need." Qin Zhi'ai shook her head, put down her chopsticks, stood up, and then remembered that she had just come downstairs to eat when she received Gu Yu's call. His words made her fingertips tremble slightly, and she spoke again to the butler, saying a number.
