Chapter 20 I Dont Want to Call Zhou Xiaoyun

Before they knew it, school had started. Zhou Guoqiang paid the tuition fees for Dabao and Dalya and brought back their new textbooks.

Dabao scribbled his name on the page with a pencil: Zhou---Zhi---Liang.

The strokes are more, Da Bao's characters are written big and ugly, the last character "Liáng" is missing two points and written incorrectly. Seeing Da Bao write his name, Zhou Fu suddenly remembered that Da Yu still didn't have a full name, thinking of giving Da Yu a good-sounding, easy-to-remember, and well-written one.

"Hmm... what's a good name? Let's just follow Xiaoxia and call her Xiaoyun, Zhou Xiaoyun. It sounds nice and is easy to write, so let's call her Zhou Xiaoyun."

His father finally thought of it after being stuck for half a day.

No way, Zhou Xiaoyun lamented in her heart. Why did Dad only give her such a name from birth to now? She didn't want to be called Zhou...Xiao...Yun...ah...

Why ask? This question is well raised. Zhou Xiaoyun has a bellyful of bitter water that she wants to pour out.

Other people's girls all have elegant and connotative names, like "Shi Qi" or "Yu Wei", just hearing them sounds like a beauty.

But Zhou Xiaoyun herself sounds like a name without connotation, lacking in elegance and refinement, especially after growing up. It's even more embarrassing to be called "Xiaoyun" by others all the time. No wonder I'm not very accomplished - a person's name can have a huge impact on their life.

Zhou Xiaoyun has always regretted that her parents gave her a name that is too casual and unrefined, now she must fight for her own lifelong happiness.

"Dad, I don't want to be called this name, give me a new one."

Zhou Xiaoyun pleaded, Zhou's father was somewhat displeased:

"What's wrong with the name Zhou Xiaoyun? I think it's great. The strokes are simple and easy to write. Look at your brother, Zhou Zhiliang, he still can't write his own name correctly after all these years, isn't that because the character 'Li' is too difficult to write? The characters 'Xiao' and 'Yun' are so easy to write, what's not to be satisfied with?"

"It's good that it's easy to write, but it's also too ordinary. Can't we call **** instead? It has a cultured meaning. When others hear it, they'll think the girl with this name is refined."

Zhou Xiaoyun proposed, she had thought of her new name long ago. ****, it sounds like a temperament type just by listening to it.

Zhou's father looked unwell, and no father wanted to mention his name again for fear of being disliked by their children.

"What's this? Not allowed to have two characters, all of us siblings have three characters. Your brothers are boys, so they're called Zhou Zhi Liang and Zhou Zhi Jie. Your uncle's older brother is called Zhou Zhi Hai, your older female cousin is called Zhou Xiao Xia, and you'll follow the same pattern, I've already thought about it, your younger sister will be called Zhou Xiao Yue."

Why should she follow Zhou Xiaoxia and be named after her, Zhou Xiaoyun was indignant. Her sister is indeed called Zhou Xiaoyue, can't this really be changed? No way, she wants to argue with reason and strength.

"Either I'll call out three words, how about Zhou Tingting? Or Zhou Yuanyuan?"

Zhou Xiaoyun retreated and sought a compromise, thinking that the repeated names of girls sounded good and elegant.

Zhou's father shook his head in disagreement: "It doesn't sound good, let's just call her Zhou Xiaoyun instead. The extra character in the middle makes it more intimate and affectionate, and it's both a formal name and an informal one that's easy to pronounce."

Zhou's father was stubborn, and as a child, Zhou Xiaoyun had no power to resist. She turned her pleading gaze to Zhao Yuzhen, who surprisingly said, "His dad chose a pretty good name."

Zhou Xiaoyun had no choice but to reluctantly accept the name she had been called for over twenty years. It seems that not everything goes as one wishes!

After dinner, Zhao Yuzhen was busy sewing a school bag for Zhou Xiaoyun under the lamp.

Zhou Xiaoyun used this kind of school bag until the fourth grade when she changed to a yellow canvas bag. It's not quite right to call it a school bag, actually it was just a few pieces of old cloth sewn together into a cloth bag that could hold a few books and some exercise books.

Zhao Yuzhen took out the old clothes that couldn't be worn at home, found a thicker one, cut it into several pieces of cloth with scissors, and then sewed the edges of the cloth together to form a cloth bag. Finally, she cut a long strip and sewed it on for carrying.

After finishing, Zhao Yuzhen measured it herself and thought it was not bad. She handed it over to Zhou Xiaoyun who was waiting aside: "Da Ya, your school bag is ready."

Zhou Xiaoyun responded with a sound and took over the schoolbag, looking at the colorful canvas bag feeling very intimate. As a child, she naturally didn't have the courage to ask for a canvas bag, and Dabao was also using the same canvas bag! Moreover, Zhao Yuzhen's craftsmanship was not bad, the stitching was very dense, and from a distance, it was impossible to see that it was made of several pieces of fabric.

Zhou Fu said to Zhou Xiaoyun: "Da Ya, bring your book over and I'll write your name on it for you."

Zhou Xiaoyun was unwilling. Her father's handwriting didn't look good at all, and her own writing was much better than his. However, she couldn't say that she knew how to write names.

"Dad, I want to learn how to write my name. School starts tomorrow and I still can't even write my own name! Can you teach me?"

Zhou's father enthusiastically agreed, picked up a pencil and wrote down the crooked "Zhou - Xiao - Yun" three words on paper. This font looks familiar, huh? How is it similar to my brother Dabao's handwriting?

No wonder Dabao's handwriting is so ugly, it turns out that he inherited it from his family!

Zhou Xiaoyun dared not laugh, desperately holding back her smile, putting on a serious face, and carefully writing her name in the language and math books. She tried to show the clumsiness and effort of a beginner learning to write, intentionally writing it a bit ugly.

Even so, it was enough to surprise Zhou Fu: "Hurry up and come see, our big girl learned to write her name in just one try, the characters are so neat and beautiful, come quick and see."

Zhao Yuzhen leaned over to take a look and was also surprised. Her educational level was not high, she hadn't even graduated from elementary school, and she could only recognize some simple characters. If she had to write, it would be somewhat laborious. Seeing Zhou Xiaoyun writing out her own name with one stroke at a time, she felt both astonished and delighted:

"Da Ya is really clever, she can write her name after just one try. Da Bao still sometimes writes his name incorrectly even now!"
