5. Only one left standing

A glaring light made Elio close his eyelids. A cracking sound of energy collision bursted through the entire valley of White Town. Glass fitted on the windows shattered, trees close to the collision unrooted and flew away for metres.

Elio was unable to see what was happening, a huge gust of wind started pushing everything in its path. Elio flew away hitting his back against the wall of the house he was taking shelter in. Shattered glass came flying his way, he tried to move his body but with all the wind pressure he was unable to move an inch.

The glass came in fast, piercing Elio’s body. It was mere fate that saved him as the glasses missed vital organs and arteries of Elio.

On the battlefield Altan was still battling with the deadly beam sent out by Dyre. Both of the individuals gave out all of their strength to seal the moment. This was their final attempt to make sure their opponent would be dead, lying on the ground.

“Die!...Die!…Die!” - Dyre screamed with anger, as he kept on pushing his beam towards Altan.

“Aaaaaaaaagh”- Altan went straight into the beam, cutting through it bit by bit, with his broken sword. The broken sword kept on making a cracking sound, as he pushed through the beam.

“Boooooom.” A huge energy discharge took place. Destroying all of the buildings, and forestation near it. Elio was also knocked out cold, his house where he was taking shelter also gave up. It started breaking into rubles.

The explosion was so massive that it created a huge cloud of dust, in the shape of a mushroom. The mushroom cloud was so massive that it could be seen from a long distance.

Rocks and rubbles burning were showered all across White Town. The town was now covered with smoke and dust. The smoke went through all of the passages and streets of White Town. For a moment there was complete silence in the entire area.

Elio, who passed out, came between some of the rubble of his building. He got lucky as he was on the top floor, so a very light amount of rubles fell on them.

After a few minutes, the dust started to clear out. The battlefield started to be visible. Two figures, it was clear from the silhouette that only one of the figures came out as victorious.

The dust cleared out completely. Altan’s sword was now completely gone, the half broken sword was not able to take the pressure of Dyre’s magic.

The prosthetic part of Altan’s body was destroyed in the clash. Sparking can be seen at the edges of the destroyed prosthetic.

Altan with half of his body destroyed, with a half broken sword which now turned to dust somehow emerged victorious. He stood there holding the handle of his sword above his head marking his triumph over Dyre, an orb of night, while the left part of his body bled mercilessly.

Dyre was lying down, his eyes still open. He had a huge hole in his chest, which oozed with dense and dark blood. His eyes which were once filled with hatred now filled with tears.

With his teary eyes Dyre smiled looking at the dark sky, with snow falling down directly on his face.

“You gave it all, didn't you? I am impressed that people like you are still present in this cruel world.”- Dyre said with a very weak and fainting voice.

Altan came down on his knees to hear Dyre’s last words. “Do you really believe that this child will be the one? Hahaha, good for you.”- Dyre had a satisfied look on his face.

“I want to end all of this chaos,I want balance, all these sun and moon differences. I always wanted to make this world a better place. I know my strength is not enough, my goals are bigger than my potential. But, someone must take the initiative.” - Altan said slowly, while he kept on coughing blood.

“Take the boy and get away far from here general, fulfil your duties and let me fulfil mine. Save the boy, and I hope you succeed in the gambit. It will benefit all of us. I’ll see you in hell, Altan son of Hadrian. It was a wonderful battle, but I’ll take your leave now with a…bang!” - Dyre said softly while tears kept on dripping from his eyes.

“May you find peace, may you receive all the compassion that we were never able to provide you. Until we meet again”- Altan said as he got up and started walking towards Elio.

Dyre smiled, and a huge beam of energy was seen shooting straight towards the sky. Dyre was dead, but all of the magical energy inside his body came out rushing.

An enormous energy discharge took place, with blinding light and cracking sound. It destroyed everything in its way. The trees, buildings, statues, everything, the whole White Town turned to dust.

The blast was so strong that the light coming out of it could be seen for more than a minute.

  “Boooooooom”.

With a cracking sound, releasing all of his energy, Dyre, an orb of night, died. He smiled when death was at his doorstep. He accepted death like a true hero, a true hero of Indu. The darkness inside him faded away, with a bang he left the world.

Somewhere in the Grande mountain range.

“Aaaaaghhhh”, a monster with a large sword attacked a woman.

The woman dodged the large sword by slipping at the right moment. The monster after the attack was now in a very vulnerable position as its right neck was completely defenseless. The woman joined her fingers, and aimed for the monster's neck.

“Sun Dry”- The woman said while her hands pierced through the thick skin of the monster. She quickly removed her hands from the wound as the monster's neck oozed with dense blood.

The monster dropped on the ground holding its neck, as it was in great pain and having its vital artery ruptured. It died groaning.

At the same time another monster with a dagger leaped towards the woman from behind. The woman oblivious of the danger was completely defenseless. As soon as the monster could cut through the woman’s neck.

“Thud”, a man with a shield and a short sword came to rescue. He blocked the attack and swifty cuts through the monster’s neck.

“Nilufer don’t drop your guard, we are at war. Focus!”- The man exclaimed with resolve.

“Sorry, won’t happen again.” Nilufer said, cutting through another monster coming their way.

It was a fierce battle between the two groups. One side there were monsters, and on the other humans. The monsters outnumbered them but, the strength these people had were not of an average human being. They were not only giving a fair fight to the monsters, but were having an upper hand.

“We need to finish them fast, lord Altan may need our assistance.”- Nilufer ordered her men.

Nilufer, who was a 19 year old young woman, had long red hair with battle scars all over her body. She was very skilled on the battlefield and also had great magical control. Her ability to control large amounts of magic at such a small age and good battle IQ was the reason that she was promoted to a squad captain of one of the houses of Ravi.

“Boooom”, a cracking sound was heard along with a huge mushroom cloud that can be seen forming in White Town. The blast made earth tremble a bit, and rock slides started happening on the mountains.

“Lord Altan!”- Nilufer exclaimed as they kept on battling the remaining monsters.

“Come on boys, we can do this, show them why we are called protectors of Ravi. Give them hell right on earth.”- Nilufer commanded, as all of the soldiers started fighting more aggressively, slaughtering the monsters all around.

The monsters started to die one by one as soon as none of them survived the fury of the protectors of Ravi.

“Yaaaay!”- The men shouted in glory as all the monsters lay dead in front of them.

“Crackkkkk” a huge beam of light was seen going towards the sky, destroying all of the White Town.

“Quick! Lord Altan needs us.” - Nilufer exclaimed with terror in her eyes, as all of them started advancing towards White Town.

In the outskirts of White Town near the foothills of Grande mountain range.

A silhouette of a man carrying something on his right shoulder can be seen from a distance. He was limping as he looked tired and weak.

FInally dust cleared, it was Altan who was carrying Elio on his shoulder. Elio who was still unconscious was completely oblivious of the situation happening around him.

Altan was not in a good shape. He was bleeding very badly, and the right side of his face was completely burned. The burn was so serious that his skull was visible.

Altan somehow managed to save Elio, as the unconscious boy was harmless and sleeping with peace. Altan smiled looking at Elio and sat down resting his back on a large stone.

Altan looked at the dark sky, with snow falling down and released a great sigh of relief.

“You may change all of this young boy, change the world. Get stronger and have faith in yourself. Don’t pick sides, there are no black or white. Everything is grey.” - Altan said with a soft voice.

Unconscious Elio smiled in his sleep, this made Altan chuckle as a drop of tear fell from his eye.

“Are you cold? Hahah, me too. I want to eat some chicken noodles.”- Altan said as he started shining brightly.

The glare was so bright that the whole valley started shining. His light reached the mountains and White Town which was now all dust and stones lit up again. His warmth eased up Elio as he snuggled and held on tightly sleeping on Altan’s lap.

“Lord Altan! Is that you? Finally we found you.” - Nulifer screamed with joy.
