Chapter Sixty-four: Rest

Jingling Gongzi lowered his head and quietly looked at the motionless Wei Luo, after a while, a faint smile appeared on the corner of his lips.

He walked slowly up to Wei Luo, bent down and stretched out his hand.

He raised his hand and gently patted Weiluo's face with a soft and elegant motion.

Then he straightened up and said: "Put it in the side hall!"

  "Agreed."

Two maidservants came forward and carried Wei Luo, throwing her onto the bed in the side chamber.

The maid had just left when Wei Luo opened her eyes.

She fainted, but it was fake.

There was some danger, but Wei Luo was really in a mess. She was hungry and tired, and she felt the strongest panic and confusion of her life. Moreover, the little sanity she had left was still warning her: under such circumstances, she would make mistakes, and she would arouse the suspicion of Prince Jingyang.

Various factors intertwined, making her brain a mess, and she was completely at a loss, unable to think of what to do to get out of that situation. Fortunately, just as she was about to collapse from exhaustion, dizziness and faintness, she remembered that this body had a bad heart, although she hadn't had an episode since she started practicing sword fighting, but she could use it as an excuse to faint.

Wei Luo weakly blinked her tired and sour eyes, dazedly glanced in the direction that the two maidservants had left, and thought with joy: Ah, it's finally over.

She soon fell into a deep sleep after thinking it through.

Wei Luo woke up with a start in the midst of extreme hunger, and as soon as she opened her eyes, she clutched at her stomach which was twisted into knots of pain.

At this moment, a soft and pleasant girl's voice came over, "Eat?"

Wei Luo was taken aback, and as soon as she heard the word "food", she swallowed a mouthful of saliva and turned her head to look.

A young girl walked up to her with a food box, on which was placed an earthenware bowl of porridge. Wei Luo looked at the obviously millet porridge and swallowed several mouthfuls of saliva. She struggled to shift her gaze away from the earthenware bowl and looked around.

There was no one on either side, this is a very large room, with jade stone as the floor, and red wood carved into beds. The beds were separated by two layers of gauze curtains and one layer of beaded curtains. Moreover, there are four such beds in this house. She slept in one of them.

The girl was standing by her bed, and there was no one else around, so it seemed that the porridge was indeed for herself.

Wei Luo sat up with her hands on her waist and looked at the girl, smiling warmly. "Thank you."

The girl forced a smile, took a step forward to the head of Wei Luo's bed, and slowly squatted down. She held her upper body straight, placed the food box on top of her head, and presented it to Wei Luo, saying softly: "Please eat."

Wei Luo took it and started eating slowly. Even though she was in a hurry, her body subconsciously maintained some habits.

Although it was a small mouthful of food, the porridge melted in her mouth as soon as she ate it, and it wasn't hot. Wei Luo finished eating within a minute. She put the bowl back on the food box and thanked him again.

The girl lowered her head and slowly backed out.

Wei Luo closed her eyes, savoring the deliciousness of this porridge - it was the first bowl of porridge she had eaten since arriving in Guizhou, made purely from millet! And after going hungry for two days. Wei Luo felt herself floating on air, unfortunately, there wasn't enough.

Just as the girl was about to leave, Wei Luo softly called out, "Miss, is there still some of this food left?"

As soon as she spoke, the girl looked up at her and then lowered her head, softly replying: "No. This porridge was prepared last night according to the young master's instructions. The young master said it was 'a bowl of porridge'."

  "Thank you."

As soon as she heard the name of Jingling Gongzi, her mouth twitched. Wei Luo stretched out his hand to touch her head, and she furrowed her brow, thinking secretly: it seemed that he had said something important last night, what was it?

She raised her head again, thinking about the situation last night, wondering if she had done anything wrong or said anything wrong. But after thinking for half a day, all that appeared in front of her eyes was his scattered black hair, half-turned head, quietly gazing at her with that expression, which truly made her heart skip a beat.

She thought for half a day, and the scene after she gave him her clothes was completely unclear. Only these few handsome pictures appeared in her mind, of course, she still remembered her tension and heartbeat at that time.

After thinking for a while, Wei Luo shook her head and reached out to touch her clothes. She discovered that her robes had been changed. Now, she was wearing a set of blue undergarments and outer garments that were placed on the bed. Her straw sandals had also been replaced. On the floor, there was a pair of shoes made from thin sheepskin. The shoes were exquisite, small, and delicate, with a style similar to the rain boots she used to wear.

Wei Luo changed her clothes and shoes, then walked out of the side hall.

The vaulted ceiling is very high, with a huge dome that makes people walking inside feel like they are surrounded by echoes. Even breathing seems amplified.

Outside the palace, white jade serves as a railing, and green stone serves as a slab. Three steps away from each other stand swordsmen, while soldiers with long spears stand densely five paces apart. Weeping willows cast shadows below, where maidservants can be seen everywhere.

Wei Luo just took a glance and honestly lowered her head, walking towards the backyard - she still had to wash her face and rinse her mouth, these things were a big project.

Wei Luo walked quietly and soon found herself behind a row of wooden houses, where a well came into view. The wall of the well was also made of bluestone, half-hidden among the dense trees surrounding it, giving off an especially cool atmosphere. It was very quiet here now.

  Wei Luo walked over happily.

A moment later, Wei Luo walked out again after washing up and reapplying her makeup.

Her eyes have started to get blurry again.

Her stomach was full, and she had seen the surroundings. Her body once again sent her a signal of fatigue. Wei Luo returned to the side hall, leaning on the bed waiting - if something happened, someone would come find her here; if not, then she could rest.

It seemed that this day was indeed the one left by the Marquis of Jingling for her to rest. No one had come looking for her until evening, when the maid who had brought her millet porridge in the morning came over and called out softly: "Wei Luo, the young master is looking for you."

Two people walked, one in front and one behind. The maid servant walked ahead, without turning her head, saying: "The young master is having a banquet with the guest from Qin."

  Feasting with guests from Qin?

This is a very formal occasion, why did you call me?

At this time, the sun began to sink westward, and half of the sky was dyed red. Wei Luo followed the maid through the nine-turn corridor and arrived at the entrance of a large flower garden, where the sound of Sheng music came from.

The sound of the sheng, accompanied by the unrestrained laughter of several men, kept coming. Wei Luo turned around a peach blossom forest and arrived at a lake. In the center of the lake was a small island, where the sound of the sheng and the laughter were coming from.

She followed the maid over the stone bridge and onto the island.

After passing by dozens of peach blossom trees, a large area of grassland and various strange-shaped rocks appeared before her eyes. On the grassland, tents were set up, beautiful women walked among them, and swordsmen stood guard outside. More than ten young men dressed as nobles were chatting and laughing loudly.

Wei Luo only took one glance, and saw that it was still the same black-robed, jade-crowned young master of Jingling. At this moment, he was laughing loudly, with sunlight shining on his handsome face as if carved out of a sculpture, instantly radiant with splendor.

Weiluo took a glance and quickly lowered her head. She didn't need to instruct the maid again, who quietly walked over from behind, came up silently behind Jingling Gongzi, and stood still at a slight distance from him. At this time, a maid noiselessly brought over a stool and placed it in front of Weiluo, who calmly knelt down on it.
