Chapter 3 "Qingming Road No. 2"

"Of course it's a curse, otherwise why would drivers be unaware?"

The young man was somewhat ridiculing Xiao Mo, but Xiao Mo didn't feel embarrassed and asked again:

"Since you know it's a cursed place, why are you still going there? Aren't you afraid of dying?"

Xiao Mo's words once again left the young man speechless, he laughed twice, then asked with a hint of doubt:

"How can you know nothing at all? You don't even know where Qingming Road No. 2 is, and you don't even know who the curse is aimed at. Is the person who brought you here mute?"

Xiao Mo shook his head and didn't make another sound. The young man also seemed to have lost interest in continuing the conversation, and with a wave of his hand towards Xiao Mo, he said:

"What you're looking for is just behind here, but you'll have to climb over this pile of rubble. I'm outta here."

After finishing speaking, the young man's figure disappeared from above, seemingly jumping down.

Watching the strange young man disappear, Xiao Mo stood in place and recalled their conversation just now. From the young man's mouth, he roughly understood two pieces of information.

One of them is also young people who know about this place from others.

Secondly, Qingming Road No. 2 is indeed a cursed place, but they are not the objects of the curse there, and going in will not get them involved.

Xiao Mo didn't quite believe that the youth was summoned here by a mysterious person, because the mysterious person seemed to not want to be known by others. Otherwise, they wouldn't have communicated with him through text messages either. Moreover, the mysterious person had also warned him to never let anyone else know of his existence.

  "Cough...cough!"

A violent cough brought Xiao Mo back from his thoughts, he looked up at the pile of rubble and had already made a decision. He was going to go to that place - Qingming Road 2, although he didn't know much about the situation there, but since the young man could come and go as he pleased, it shouldn't be a problem for him either.

Xiao Mo stopped dawdling and, after pounding his chest a few times to relieve the congestion, quickly walked towards the pile of waste rocks.

Climbing was as difficult as he had imagined, with soft sand and gravel everywhere, making it hard to even stand still, let alone climb up, and he couldn't help but wonder how the young man had managed to get up there.

Xiao Mo climbed for nearly 5 minutes before reaching the top, where he was panting heavily with sweat dripping down his face. Below, there stood a classical villa, on which hung a worn-out wooden sign that read:

  "Qingming Road No. 2."

The villa was very large, just like some American movies, with a total of three floors, and it also came with a big yard. In his field of vision, the two sides of the villa were empty land, as for the front, because of the villa's shelter, he didn't know what was there either.

With a great deal of effort, Xiao Mo walked to the front gate of the villa. The gate was half open, probably left that way by the young man. He didn't hesitate and stepped inside.

Through the courtyard, Xiao Mo arrived at the outside of the main gate. The door was closed at this moment, and there were occasional voices coming from inside.

Xiao Mo felt a little nervous in his heart. After all, this was a cursed place. As soon as he thought of what had happened at Luohe School, he couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine.

Taking a deep breath, Xiao Mu heavily knocked on the door.

  "Bang bang......!"

Before long, the door creaked open and a burly man in his forties with a sinister scar on his face stood at the entrance.

This face was not unfamiliar to Xiao Mo, it was one of the two mysterious men who had found him back then. Xiao Mo was stunned on the spot. Looking at the man again, he also had a look of surprise, or more precisely, incredulity, as if Xiao Mo couldn't possibly be here.

The two of them shouted almost in unison after being stunned for a few seconds:

  "It's you!"

  "Xiao Mo!"

The man's face overflowed with excited smiles, he took a step forward and directly hugged Xiao Mo. The man's actions also left Xiao Mo at a loss. The man's body trembled with excitement, his mouth also speaking incoherently:

"It's really great that you're still alive! I knew you were a lucky kid and wouldn't die so easily, and you actually managed to escape from that godforsaken place!"

As he spoke, the man slapped him hard on the back and laughed with tears in his eyes:

  "You're really something!"

Xiao Mo was almost photographed to vomit blood, his back was burning with pain, and he had another severe cough.

Xiao Meng's face turned pale, and the man also realized his rash action, hurriedly asked with concern:

"Sorry, Xiao Mo, I'm too excited, accidentally..."

  "It's nothing... Cough, cough..."

The middle-aged man led Xiao Mo into the villa, where there were three people besides him. One was the long-haired young man he had met before, one was a woman with a mask on her face, and the last one... was a monk.

The three people inside saw that the middle-aged man was extremely agitated, and they all showed a look of doubt. The young man looked at Xiao Mo again, then asked the middle-aged man:

"A worm? Do you two know each other?"

  "A worm?"

Xiao Mo looked at the middle-aged man in confusion, while the middle-aged man turned his head and glared fiercely at the young man, then explained:

"Don't listen to that son of a bitch!"

Upon hearing this, Xiao Mo smiled awkwardly, while that monk was already laughing uncontrollably...

Xiao Mo is currently in a state of confusion, which is completely opposite to his original intention. His original intention was to come here to dispel his doubts, but instead, he has become increasingly perplexed.

From the reactions of these four people, it seems that only the middle-aged man knows him and their relationship seems to be very good. Also from his previous words, it can be roughly guessed that he had been to a very dangerous place, while the middle-aged man thought he was dead.

"Is it the mysterious person's 'gate'?"

Xiao Mo felt that his guess was about 80% accurate.

The middle-aged man seemed unaware that he had lost his memory and perhaps waited a while to chat with him alone, anyway, introduced those three people to him.

He first pointed to the woman sitting on the sofa in the corner and introduced her:

"This is Xinyan, who joined us a month ago."

The middle-aged man pointed at the monk over there and said:

"This is Miao, Master Miao Ran, who joined us three months ago."

  "Rotten Monk?"

Xiao Mo's expression changed strangely after hearing this, and he bit his lip to hold back his laughter. However, looking at the monk's appearance, with triangular eyes, square face, and a nose like a ditch, he indeed looked quite unsightly.

The middle-aged man also knew that the monk's name didn't sound good, and he hurriedly changed the subject, pointing to the young man opposite him:

"This little bastard is called Li Shuai, he just joined us three days ago and already knows how to spout nonsense."

  "Li Shuai?"

Xiao Mo had the urge to laugh again, Li Shuai saw Xiao Mo looking at him, and then he coolly messed with his bangs, and then proudly said:

"How is it? Is it true that people are as their names suggest?"

  Xiao Mu was shocked...

The middle-aged man pointed at Xiao Mo and introduced him to the three people again after introducing the three people to Xiao Mo.

"This is Xiao Mo, whom I often mention to you. The materials we have in our hands are mostly sorted and edited by him."

  "Is this person Xiao Mo?"

After learning about Xiao Mo's identity, the room suddenly fell into absolute silence, with three people's faces filled with incredulity.

"Older brother Gao, didn't you say Xiao Mo was already dead?"

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man smiled and looked at Xin Yan:

"As you can see, he's still doing very well."

Before the middle-aged man finished speaking, Li Shuai shouted in disbelief:

"I said a worm, you must have gotten it wrong. This kid doesn't know anything, not even the way here was told by me. How can such a rookie be that awesome Xiao Mu?"

"If that's true, then I really don't dare compliment your storytelling skills."

"You must know when to stop joking, damn it!"

This time the middle-aged man didn't take it lying down from Li Shuai, immediately glaring with anger, and together with the ferocious scar on his face, he looked like a bloodthirsty demon.

But Li Shuai still remained unmoved.

Xiao Mo was completely stunned. He didn't understand what the middle-aged man said at all. Li Shuai's words were not wrong in the slightest, and he really didn't even know the way to come here.

"It seems I've lost some memories, so the things you just said, I don't remember at all. All I recall is that we met before, and you once came to ask me about a ghost incident in the dorm with a young man around my age. As for your identity, name, these are all unclear to me."

The middle-aged man stared blankly at Xiao Mo, perhaps he was now doubting his ears, while Li Shuai said with a smug face:

"See, I told you this kid is a rookie, he clearly doesn't know anything."

The middle-aged man was stunned for a moment before asking Xiao Mo with a serious expression:

"You really don't remember anything? Not Old Xu, Chen Can, Wang Qing, Zhang Xiaoshun..."

"Sorry, I don't remember any of the people you mentioned."

  "I understand."

The middle-aged man's eyes flashed with a hint of gloom, he swallowed his saliva and paused for a few seconds before pointing to the upper floor and saying to Xiao Mo:

"I knew it wouldn't be easy to escape from there, let's go upstairs and talk, maybe I can remind you of something."
