Chapter 8 The Crowded Bus

After getting up in the morning, Wu Qi habitually walked to the balcony and stretched his waist against the sunlight pouring in from outside.

He likes the sunshine in the early morning, because he enjoys the feeling of the sun shining on his body, which is warm and intimate, giving him a slight sense of home. For someone who has left their hometown to struggle, the hardships they face outside are not a big deal, what's really hard for them to bear is the loneliness that comes from being unable to blend in with their surroundings.

Wu Ji thought he was a romantic, but he couldn't fully immerse himself in anything. Every day when he woke up, his heart felt empty and hollow, and an inexplicable sense of desolate loneliness would arise.

He has graduated for five years, and he has been drifting for five years. The passion in his heart when he was young, the ambition to make a difference, all were shattered by this cruel reality, leaving nothing behind.

But he was powerless to change anything, and could only silently choose to endure, continuing to repeat this kind of hopeless day. He suddenly remembered a colleague's catchphrase, which was a very classic self-deprecation:

"Rich people live for pleasure, but as for us, living is just a optimistic attitude. So, in this world, as long as one is alive, it's worth our respect, because living really takes courage."

With his head bowed and gazing down at the window, Wu Qi clenched his fists tightly and secretly vowed to make a name for himself sooner or later!

As he was about to end his daily habit, he turned around and went back, however... a window on the opposite side suddenly caught his attention. Since the two buildings were not far apart, he could clearly see the balcony of the house across from him, where a little boy was standing.

He noticed the boy mainly because the boy was staring at him in terror, then saw the boy open the window of the balcony and shout at him:

  "Someone! Someone!"

Wu Qi looked around suspiciously, but didn't find anything out of place. He thought it was just the little boy's prank and decided to ignore him, turning his head and walking back.

Across from them, they heard a little boy's voice, and his mother rushed over, pulling the little boy to her side:

"What's all the commotion about so early in the morning?!"

The boy's gaze remained fixed on the window across from him, and it wasn't until half a day later that he finally replied:

"There is someone stuck on that window."

  "Who is it?"

The child's mother looked puzzled at the window across from her, but there was no one in the window opposite.

"Normally I tell you what's going on, don't lie! Come on, let's go inside!"

"I didn't lie, just now someone really was leaning on the window of that house."

  "What about the people now?"

Followed the big brother opposite into the house...

The reminder from the little boy did not take Wu Qi's heart, after all, he was also from that age, and at that time, there were not many things to do with evil tricks and teasing people around him. He still remembers today, the most excessive one, scared a friend to death.

As he thought of this, a child's figure flashed in his mind, the child who had climbed onto Cheng Wushuang's back. Yesterday when he saw that child, a familiar feeling surged up in his heart, and now as he thought about it again, this feeling became even stronger.

"Could it be that I've seen that kid before?"

Wu Qi shook his head in confusion, then entered the bathroom to wash up. During the process, he stopped more than once and turned back to look, always having the illusion that someone was standing behind him.

I don't know what's wrong with him, the more he washed, the more afraid he became, his back was also cool and refreshing, as if there were a pair of hands gently stroking it.

He suppressed the fear and quickly splashed some water on his face, then wiped it dry with a towel and rushed out. He glanced at the time and found that he was almost late, so he didn't have time to prepare breakfast and hastily put on his coat and ran downstairs.

At this time, there was no one in the corridor, only he himself running downstairs desperately, his footsteps sounding extremely urgent. After rushing out of the corridor, he stopped outside and looked back inside for a moment. During the process of just going downstairs, he seemed to have heard another faint sound of footsteps, which was very light but still caught by him. However, after stopping outside for a while, he didn't see anyone coming out.

  "What's wrong with me today?"

He slapped his forehead hard, telling himself not to think nonsense. He quickened his pace towards the bus stop again. There were a lot of people waiting for the bus at the bus stop, and he usually cursed in his heart, but today, he surprisingly felt relieved, and even fortunate that there were so many people here.

Before long, the bus slowly arrived, and he squeezed onto the bus with the crowd waiting for the bus. As soon as they got on, the bus offered a big discount, sending them a car full of human meat pies, which were both filling and satisfying.

Wu Qi was squeezed to the point of being flustered, but had to say that at this time, if someone stood next to a beautiful woman, it would be an excellent opportunity to make a move. Rubbing her vigorously, she wouldn't even be able to turn around and scold you.

Wu Qi no longer needed to hold onto anything, as the crowd was so dense that people were pressed chest to back. He too didn't bother holding on, and instead closed his eyes, lowered his head, and quietly waited for the end of this long journey.

The bus was moving slowly, but the number of people on it didn't seem to decrease at all. He opened his eyes with difficulty and looked out the window, fortunately, the distance from where he worked wasn't far away anymore.

  "Ah yo."

He was staring ahead when his feet suddenly hurt, apparently someone in front of him had accidentally stepped on them. He cried out in pain, thinking that the person who had stepped on his foot would apologize, but unexpectedly, not only did that person not apologize, they didn't even look at him.

Wu Qi felt a bit uncomfortable in his heart, but with so many people on the bus, it was inevitable that there would be some bumps and bruises. So he forcibly swallowed down this breath of air. But before the pain in his feet had even dissipated, both of his feet suddenly hurt again.

  "Ah yo!"

This time his painful cry finally made the person in front of him turn around, but that person just looked at him strangely for a moment before turning their head back as if nothing had happened.

  "My god!"

In his heart, he silently cursed the man, and Wu Qi's face turned even more iron-gray. Who would have thought that his feet suddenly hurt again. He looked down to see a pair of dirty shoes trampling on his leather shoes.

Without carefully distinguishing the size of those shoes, Wu Qi couldn't help but angrily say to that person:

  "Watch where you're going!"

The man looked back and gave him a strange look, but still didn't show any expression. At this time, Wu Qi felt that the people behind him were squeezing even harder, and his feet were also getting more painful because those shoes were still on top of them.

"I said you stepped on me, didn't you hear?!"

Because of his anger, Wu Qi's voice also unconsciously increased a few degrees, and the man turned his face again, this time he spoke:

"Are you sick or something? There's a huge empty space behind, but you insist on squeezing in here with me and shouting nonstop! Open your eyes wide and take a look, my foot is eighty feet away from yours, how could I possibly step on you?"

The man's body moved forward, but the force applied to his feet did not disappear. He looked down in a daze and saw that the shoes were still trampling on his feet.

However, it was just a pair of shoes, and on top of it... there were no feet!

  "Ah——!"

Wu Qi suddenly cried out in alarm, as his feet lost their balance and his body uncontrollably fell backwards, finally heavily crashing to the ground.

Upon hearing his shout, the driver hastily stopped the car and the people on board looked at him in confusion. At this moment, Wu Qi's heart was racing and he felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave, with cold tremors constantly running through his body.

His rear was empty, there were only a few people standing there, the bus wasn't crowded after all, originally... originally where did those people behind him go!!!!

"Hey, buddy? Hey, are you okay?"

  "It's nothing, it's okay, sorry."

The shoes on his feet had disappeared, and the crowd that was originally squeezed behind him was also gone. It seemed like everything was just an illusion he created, but in his heart, he knew clearly that what happened earlier was absolutely not an illusion!

Because his leather shoes were stained with muddy mud! Is this the best proof that everything is an illusion?
