Wu Pangzi and Lao Chen led their men towards the open area, when they heard voices coming from ahead. As they drew closer, they saw Zhang Feng with a guarded expression, Liu Zi looking bewildered, and Lao Liu, all three of them standing there.
"Old Chen, isn't this place perfect for an ambush with no one around? How did three big live people show up in just a short while?" Wu Pangzi teased while secretly signaling his men to surround them. Since they had already decided not to let anyone go down the mountain, these three people must be taken down no matter who they were.
Lao Chen snorted and ignored him, with a wave of his hand, his subordinates quickly closed in on Zhang Feng and the others, surrounding them.
Old Liu, who had just come to his senses from a daze, quickly put on the demeanor of an old soldier. He stood with a slight bow, his eyes narrowed slightly, using his peripheral vision to casually scan the crowd surrounding him, searching for a breakthrough in the encirclement.
Liuzi's reaction slowed down a lot, and when the enemy closed in, he was still a bit dazed, not understanding the situation. It wasn't until Old Liu reminded him that he adopted a military combat stance, vigilantly looking at Wu Baozi and others. Meanwhile, Zhang Feng, who had previously relied on his keen sense of hearing to detect the enemy early, also clenched his fists with a hint of tension.
Just as Zhang Feng was being pulled by Old Liu, he inadvertently heard a lot of noise in front of him, like the sound of clothes and branches rubbing against each other. He thought there might be some fierce beasts or giant insects lurking around, but what he didn't expect to see was a group of strangers.
"Who are you and why are you blocking our way down the mountain?" Zhang Feng asked solemnly, looking at the stranger in front of him.
Wu Pangzi walked up with a smile and said: "Little kid, don't bother asking who we are. Anyway, today's your day to die. With so many of us here, one spit from each of us can drown you. Let me send you on your way."
"Cut the nonsense, Wu, hurry up and attack! We'll kill them all and then ambush here. These three people don't seem like small fries based on their portraits, maybe they're some minor characters from the mountain," Little Chen said with a look of impatience.
"Haha, brothers, get ready to take action! Remember to make it quick and decisive, don't delay others' important matters." Wu Baozi laughed and gave the order.
"Yes! Big Brother!" The replies were a cacophony of voices, and soon Wu Baozi's men pulled out all sorts of weapons - swords, knives, axes, hammers, and more. Their ferocious faces slowly closed in on the three.
Lao Chen's subordinates also drew their knives under his instruction, and the sound on this side became more uniform. "Whoosh! Whoosh!" A neat knife-drawing sound rose, and these three bailiffs joined the encirclement from the other side, seeking to be steady and not leave any gaps.
"Lao Liu, in a moment I'll count one, two, three and you take the six sons and hurry to run, don't look back, remember, be sure to go down the mountain and explain the details of this matter to Qianhu Da Ren!" Zhang Feng said in a low voice as soon as he saw that things were not going well.
"Big brother! How can we leave you behind? We'll go up the mountain together and come down together. The three of us will fight our way out!" Liu Zi said, his eyes red.
But the old Chen opposite him clearly didn't want to delay any longer and shouted loudly "Take action!" As soon as Old Chen gave the order, all the attacking personnel rushed towards Zhang Feng and his two companions like a swarm of bees.
"Bang!" A subordinate had just swung his sword close, but was knocked flying by Zhang Feng's palm and fell under the tree. Zhang Feng slowly let out a breath, looking at the enemy in front of him with an increasingly cold expression.
……
A bamboo stick lightly tapped on the back of Little Zhang Feng, and Qingxuzi Master nodded in satisfaction as he corrected his posture.
"Master, what are we practicing here? Why is it so slow and different from what the other senior brothers are practicing?" Little Zhang Feng asked in puzzlement.
Qingxu Zi said faintly, "Disciple, you are practicing the Taiyi Cotton Palm of our sect. As for other brothers, they practice the Thirteen Postures of Taiji created by our ancestor Sanfeng."
"Why can't I learn that thirteen postures, Master?" Little Zhang Feng asked with a difficult-to-maintain head-turning posture.
Qingxu Zi shook his head, stretched out his hand and made a grasping motion, turning Xiao Zhang Feng's small head back to its original position: "You can't be considered my direct disciple from Wudang Mountain, so you haven't received a Daoist name, naturally you also can't learn the Taiji Thirteen Postures. However, this Taìyǐ Miánzhǎng is a technique created by my master, and I can teach it to you."
"Ah" Little Zhang Feng nodded as if he understood, but actually didn't. This caused him to lose his balance and stumble. With a wronged expression on his face, Little Zhang Feng lowered his head and quietly waited for Master's bamboo stick to come down.
"Ah..."
Before waiting for Master Zhutiao, Little Zhang Feng only heard a sigh "Disciple, lift your head and look at me." Little Zhang Feng hurriedly lifted his head, but Master was not in front of him. When he looked around, he found that Qingxuzi Master was standing beside the water tank.
"Disciple, watch closely as I demonstrate the Taiyi Cotton Palm!" Qingxuzi put down the bamboo stick in his hand and inserted both palms into the vat. "Whoosh!" A large amount of water was lifted out of the vat by Qingxuzi's palms, moving in sync with his hands. The palm seemed to take on a soft, boneless quality, yet it actually contained a subtle firmness within its gentleness.
As Qingxu Zi flipped his palms, a stream of water followed and shot straight at the ground. With a "plop" sound, mud splashed and the water dispersed. Looking again, the bluestone pavement had been pounded into a huge pit. Qingxu Zi immediately swung both arms, and all the water flew out onto the ground.
Little Zhang Feng's small mouth was wide open, and his round face was full of surprise. He didn't expect that the kung fu he had just practiced, with poses and slow turns, would be so powerful.
Qing Xuzi had his hands behind his back and a calm expression on his face as he waited for his disciple's praise.
"Master! You've ruined the newly renovated floor! Now Master Xuanyu will be angry again!"
Qing Xuzi maintained his dignified image for less than three seconds before it was instantly ruined, and he said with a twitching mouth corner: "Don't mind the trivial matter, disciple, go pick up the bamboo stick for your master."
"Hmm!" Little Zhang Feng quickly handed over the bamboo stick to Qingxuzi, and he still didn't know what he would face in a second...
……
"Master, I've been practicing this Taiyi Cotton Palm for a long time now. Today's the day it'll come in handy." Zhang Feng smiled wryly to himself.
On the other hand, Old Liu knew that he couldn't help in this situation, so he quickly dragged Sixth out of the encirclement. Sixth was still struggling desperately, and Old Liu repeatedly shouted: "Hurry up and go! It's definitely too late to go down the mountain to get reinforcements now. Go up the mountain immediately along the small road we took earlier and ask for their help. Tell them that the person they're looking for is right here!"
He stared blankly for a moment before asking, "What about you?"
Lao Liu snorted and said, "I've never been a deserter since I joined the army. These few rotten onions can't hold me back. Wait for me to break in and join forces with Zhang Zongqi to hold them off until you bring reinforcements down to capture them all."
"Alright! I'm going!" Liu Zi heard and rushed out of the grass heap towards the mountain, Wu Baozi and Lao Chen on the side couldn't stop him in time, and could only watch as Liu Zi ran further and further away...
