Chapter 7: First Try (Part 1)

Ten minutes later, Song Baiyu appeared in front of a restaurant called "Father and Son Restaurant".

"Bo Yu, it's been a while, still the usual three dishes and one soup?" Just as Song Bo Yu had entered the restaurant, a sixty-something old man came out to greet him. The old man was slightly balding, with a ruddy complexion and a face full of smiles.

Song Baiyu nodded at the old man and a smile also appeared on his face. "Uncle Li, you're getting more spirited with age."

The elderly man who actively greeted Song Baiyu was surnamed Li, and Song Baiyu called him Uncle Li. This restaurant was run by Uncle Li and his son Li Ergui, with Uncle Li in charge of receiving guests and Li Ergui handling kitchen affairs.

The location of "Fu Zi Restaurant" is not very good, Song Bo Yu also discovered it unintentionally, after eating a meal here, he liked the taste here, and simply regarded this place as his second home. After coming and going, he became familiar with Li Shu and his son.

"Lazy eggplant in a plate, sauced carp in a pot, oyster oil with raw vegetables, and dangshen pork ribs soup." Uncle Li first shouted towards the kitchen, then turned around and asked Song Boyu with a smile: "Boyu, I didn't remember wrong, did I?"

"It's just these dishes, Uncle has a really good memory." Song Baiyu didn't think that he hadn't come for a long time, but the old man still remembered his most frequently eaten dishes, and he was slightly moved.

"Uncle Li, business has been good lately, right? It looks like it's a lot more lively than before." Song Boyu took a glance around and found that the flow of people in the restaurant was much larger than before. Although it wasn't mealtime yet, there were still over a dozen customers dining in the restaurant.

"It's okay, it's all about giving each other face, and there are many repeat customers." Lao Li smiled, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.

Uncle Li finished speaking and saw that there were more guests arriving at the door, so he smiled apologetically at Song Boyu and went to greet them.

Song Baiyu likes to come to this store, initially just because Li Er's cooking skills are good and suit his taste. Gradually, he really fell in love with this place. This place is far away from the bustling city, less noisy and dusty, the store is clean, the environment is quiet, and Uncle Li is enthusiastic and hospitable. Seeing Uncle Li and his son being filial, Song Baiyu feels a warm home here.

"Boss, who's the boss? Come and collect the goods." Just as Song Baiyu was deep in thought, a rough voice entered his ears. He turned around to see a young man in his twenties, wearing large floral pants, with a cigarette in his mouth and a bag of rice and some soy sauce and other kitchen supplies in his hand.

After entering the house, he put down the things in his hand on the table at the door, stepped on a stool with one foot, and swept his eyes around the room with a sly gaze.

"Didn't we stock up today?" Uncle Li was attending to customers when he heard someone shouting at the door, and he quickly ran to the entrance, asking Dahua Kuzi in puzzlement.

"Cut the crap, I'm giving you a good deal, are you going to take it or not?" The middle-aged man saw that the restaurant owner was an old man, his expression relaxed, and his tone became even more arrogant.

The loud voice of Da Hua Kao, combined with his fierce gaze scanning the room back and forth, quickly caught the attention of the customers in the restaurant. Some timid ones quietly packed up their things and hastily left the restaurant. Others who didn't leave, however, sped up their eating pace, constantly keeping an eye on the entrance.

Mr. Li, being a seasoned and astute person, took a glance at the frightened guests in the room, then looked at the young man who was staring at him with a ferocious grin, and realized that this young man was not actually delivering goods, but rather collecting protection fees.

"We didn't pay protection fees just at the beginning of the month, why are you here again?" Lǐ Shū (Old Man Li) grumbled in discontent.

The big flower pants didn't expect Old Man Li to dare talk back, he stretched out his large hand and directly grabbed Old Man Li's collar, scolding: "Old man, don't give face if you don't have face, which eye of yours saw me collecting protection fees? I'm delivering goods to you, do you understand what it means to deliver goods?"

"Alright, how much for these goods? I'll take them." Lao Li hastily replied as he saw the commotion caused by the floral pants and two more people walking out of the restaurant.

The big flower pants heard the words and smiled on his face, let go of Uncle Li at the same time, and loudly scolded: "Old guy, really, drink respectfully or be punished. These goods cost 5,000 yuan in total, hurry up and pay, I'm still rushing to the next house."

"What, 5,000 yuan? Why don't you go rob a bank? Our store doesn't even make that much money in a month!" Li Er Gui shouted loudly before Lao Shu could respond.

Li Er Gui had also discovered what happened outside just now, and he was seen holding a large kitchen knife, taking two or three steps to reach the entrance of the restaurant, tensely shielding Li Shu behind him.

"You... you want to kill someone?" Big Flower Pants didn't expect that a young man, who was even more robust than himself, would suddenly rush out with a shiny kitchen knife in hand, looking ferocious. His previous arrogance instantly disappeared, and he not only withdrew his leg from the stool but also retreated several steps, without noticing the tense expression on Li Er Gui's face.

"Get out of here, take all this stuff away." Li Er Gui originally just wanted to protect his father, but didn't expect to scare Da Hua Ku into a panic. He was secretly delighted and continued to put on a tough face.

"Alright, you wait for me." Seeing that Lao Er Gui didn't mean to make things difficult for him, Da Hua Ku Tai picked up his belongings and ran off. Only when he was far away did he loudly shout back.

Upon seeing this scene, the guests dining in the restaurant burst into loud laughter. They all exclaimed that Li Er was really something else, but Lao Li's face didn't look too good. However, he didn't say anything and continued to enthusiastically serve the guests.

Soon, Song Baiyu's dishes were served. He hadn't smelled meat for half a month, and suddenly seeing such delicious food, his appetite opened up, and he quickly swept away the food on the table. In just over ten minutes, he had already eaten three bowls of rice.

"Bo Yu, hurry up and eat, let's go after you finish eating. I'm sure those guys will be back soon." Uncle Li reminded him kindly as he saw Song Bo Yu almost finishing his meal.

"It's okay, Second Brother is here." Song Baiyu smiled and continued eating his meal.

"Ah, Er Gui is actually very timid and can only be bullied by others when it comes to fighting. That guy in the floral pants must have suffered a loss earlier, he'll definitely go back and get his gang members, looks like we won't be able to avoid giving them money after all. I just hope they'll let our restaurant off easy and not beat up Er Gui." Lao Li sighed.

Song Baiyu was taken aback by the words, he hadn't thought things would be so serious, and involuntarily said: "Uncle Li, then why don't you call the police?"

"It's useless to call the police, they'll only suffer more severe retaliation, unless the police can lock them up for 10 or 8 years, but is that possible?" Uncle Li shook his head: "Bai Yu, you've eaten your fill, hurry up and leave, don't wait until you're implicated too."

It seemed as if to verify Lao Li's words, the moment he finished speaking, several loud crashes were heard, and several tables had been overturned.

Almost all the tables were set with chopsticks, restaurant paper, soy sauce, seasoning salt, chili oil and so on. As these tables were overturned, the restaurant was suddenly in a mess, with chopsticks and chili oil flying everywhere in the air.

Unfortunately, Song Baiyu was the first to bear the brunt. A large amount of soy sauce was poured on his body, and a drop of chili oil was even smeared on his face. A chopstick also fell onto his head inopportunely and got stuck at the root of his ear.

"Everyone stop!" Song Baiyu picked up a paper towel from the dining table to wipe off the chili oil on his face, and then took down the chopsticks behind his ear, shouting loudly.

Song Baiyu was really angry, in his past life and this life, no one had ever dared to lay hands on him. Song Baiyu also couldn't tolerate others laying hands on him, but now, there was actually a group of blind things that provoked him and got him into such a sorry state, it was unbearable.

Under Lao Shu's persuasion, there were only three customers left in the restaurant at this time, including Song Baiyu. The other two customers were quick to see the opportunity and had already hidden aside, so they were lucky enough to escape, and only Song Baiyu was unlucky and did not take Lao Shu's words seriously.

Song Baiyu took a glance, there were seven people who came to the restaurant this time, led by a scar-faced man. These people either held choppers or long steel bars in their hands. Just after entering the door for a while, five tables in the restaurant had been overturned, and several benches were also smashed.

"Little kid, itching for a fight, huh? Trying to mind other people's business?" The scar-faced man took a glance at the food in front of Song Baiyu and saw that he was a customer. He sneered and quickly walked up to Song Baiyu, his big hairy hand reaching out to slap him on the back of the head.
