Chapter 38: Recruitment

After comparing Daredevil's combat skills to Allen's, Russell couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for the tter, who was currently stuffing his face somewhere.

If Allen wanted to defeat Daredevil, he'd have to rely on his monstrous physical strength after transforming and overpower Daredevil with brute force.

Even then, Allen wouldn't have a 100% chance of winning. In fact, he might end up being toyed with by the experienced Daredevil like a cat pying with a mouse.

Once all the thugs in the warehouse had been taken down, Daredevil began his cleanup.

His method was simple. He grabbed a few grenades from the crates, pulled the pins, and tossed them toward the truck and various cargo boxes.

  *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

The grenade explosions triggered a chain reaction, and soon the entire warehouse was engulfed in fmes.

The successive explosions also woke up the nearby residents.

However, living in Hell's Kitchen came with an important rule: don't meddle in other people's business.

So, after a brief moment of lights flickering on in the surrounding buildings, they were quickly turned off, plunging the area back into darkness.

  "What a waste..."

Daredevil had destroyed a significant amount of weaponry. If used properly, it could have fueled a small-scale war.

But now, these valuable weapons were reduced to ashes in the fire, completely worthless.

No wonder Kingpin had turned his attention to Daredevil. Even someone as wealthy as him would feel the sting after suffering such losses multiple times.

After completing his task, Daredevil didn't linger in the warehouse. He agilely leaped onto the walls, climbed to the roof like a nimble ape, and began making his escape.

  "It's time to meet him..."

As Daredevil sprinted across the rooftops, Russell leaped from the roof of the Syndicate building and began closing the distance.

While Russell couldn't fly, his incredible jumping ability allowed him to move at astonishing speeds.

In just a few leaps, he appeared in Daredevil's path, nding on a rooftop like a god descending from the heavens.

His sudden appearance put Daredevil on high alert. He gripped his batons tightly, ready for a fight.

"Hi, I'm Russell. I'm an enhanced individual."

To prevent Daredevil from taking further action, Russell introduced himself and even revealed his status as an enhanced individual.

Even if he hadn't said it, Daredevil would have known Russell wasn't an ordinary human. After all, normal people couldn't jump dozens or even hundreds of meters in a single leap.

  "What do you want?"

Although Russell had shown goodwill, Daredevil didn't lower his batons. He remained cautious and kept his distance.

Russell wasn't bothered by this reaction. If he were in Daredevil's shoes, he'd also be on high alert if an unknown enhanced individual appeared right after completing a mission.

"Nothing too important. I just wanted to meet you and ask if you'd be interested in teaming up to take down Kingpin."

When Russell mentioned Kingpin, Daredevil's already heightened alertness went up another notch.

However, his tension soon eased slightly.

From Russell's heartbeat, Daredevil could tell he was being sincere.

This might sound far-fetched, but Daredevil truly had this ability.

With his enhanced hearing, he could detect whether someone was lying based on their heartbeat.

It was simir to how a lie detector worked, except Daredevil didn't need any equipment, just his ears.

"Why do you want to take down the Kingpin? You know he's not an easy target."

Although he confirmed Russell was telling the truth, he still didn't understand Russell's motives.

"Because he wants to take me down. You've probably heard about the two lunatics who recently attacked various gangs and the newly established 'Syndicate Bio' company st week, right?"

As a superhero active in Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil was well aware of these two major events, especially the establishment of 'Syndicate Bio'. He nodded silently.

Russell wasn't sure if this was Kingpin's doing or the gangs' own choice.

After 'Syndicate Bio' was officially established, the gangs that had been operating nearby had all moved out.

This created a strange vacuum in the area surrounding 'Syndicate Bio'.

For several blocks around the company, there were no gangs or thugs in sight.

An eerie sense of safety had emerged in the heart of Hell's Kitchen, a pce known for its chaos and crime.

"The gang attacks were my doing, and Syndicate Bio is my company... So, now you know why Kingpin wants to take me down."

Hearing this, Daredevil understood the situation, "So, what do you want to do? Team up, or share intel?"

Through his wyer identity, Daredevil had also gathered some information about 'Syndicate Bio'. He could confirm that the company had no ties to Kingpin.

"Why choose when I can have both? I want to team up with you to take down Kingpin, share intel, and even invite you to become Syndicate's legal counsel..." Russell id out his ideas without hesitation.

He wasn't too worried about Daredevil rejecting him.

Like Jessica, street-level heroes had a small weakness: they cked the support of a strong and reliable organization.

Fighting alone might seem impressive, but it had significant limitations.

An individual's power had its limits, but an organization could provide advantages in terms of manpower, funding, equipment, and intelligence.

So, to grow stronger... no, to achieve their goals and fulfill their missions, a reliable organization was absolutely essential.

"How did you know I'm a wyer?"

Daredevil didn't immediately agree. Instead, he asked a question that had been on his mind.

He was certain he had never revealed his true identity while operating as Daredevil, so he was curious how Russell had figured it out.

"Everyone has their secrets. I won't pry into yours, but I'll keep mine too..." Was Russell's reply...
